  • I think I like the final version better, but I love this song. And while many people say this song reflects the book, I just don't see the connection all that much.

  • I've been trying to get my hands on a copy of Nabokov's book, Lolita, and I've realized that, while this is about Emilie, it really fits that book. A lot.

  • It's about child sexual abuse.

  • Most women who dress in EGL in Japan have no idea what the name "Gothic Lolita" came from, so calling this song Gothic Lolita makes no sense. And by the modern definition of the word "Gothic" (a cross between romance and horror), child abuse has nothing to do with it, so I don't know what EA means in that quote romakonoe shared. I would guess EA does not think child abuse is romantic in any way....

  • @goodyfun well from what i know of it, a lolita is also someone who is a sexually promiscuouse(sp?) young girl, or a girl above or below the age of consent who is desired by older men. That may be what she is referring to. I cant be entirely sure though

  • @littlefart123 Hmm. It would make more sense if it was a play on words with the the style name "Gothic Lolita".

  • @goodyfun it would actually. Just one of those we'll-never-know-for-sure-unless-she-tells-us deals. Kind of Like Hiromu Arakawa and Envys gender... o.O

  • @goodyfun The word Lolita basically means an attractive little girl or young girl. And gothic means dark.

  • @CabaretStockings both wrong.

  • @goodyfun The gothic literature which informed the gothic movement grew about due to the collapse of english society and its corruption. While some of the more modern stories have aspects of romance you'll find that the general consensus is actually a perversion of romance. Dracula for instance has very little to do with romance, even Harper and Mina's relationship could be seen as shallow, and Dracula's intrusion is merely a further corruption of love by ennui.

  • @xshmoe winged zephyr should have it :)

  • does anyone have the full version of THIS version? not the newer re released one, but this one. please and thanks x

  • ya IDK what it is about this one thats so much better but it just is haha.

I think it has more of a haunting quality.

  • i love dis song

  • Wow I can relate to this song so well...

  • WTF?? °__°

    poor lolitas.

    rotfl.

  • I've always preferred this first version than the final one that ended up on Opheliac

  • umm is this what I think it's about?

  • yes. yes it is. sexual abuse.

  • Reminds me of Le Portrait de Petit Cossette, which is an anime

  • me too.

  • wasnt this a song bout rape..

  • Yes, it is.

  • @bloodboy06 and murder

  • I like more this version than the other one.

This one is sung like... with more feeling..

  • It's kind of like "Lolita" by Vladimir Nabokov, isn't it?

  • hmm i seem to have a different version of this one o.o is this the original or a remake? :D

  • I agree, the version that I first heard is a little different than this version... I like both, though. I'm not sure which one is the original.

  • I'm pretty sure this is a remix...

  • i like this one better but do you think there's a full version? because the other one lasts for 6 minutes or so, and this one just 2 :(

  • Gothic Lolita is actually a clothing style popular in japan. The song is based of a famous poem written about the style.

  • famous poem?

sounds like itd be a pretty good one

    who was it written by?

  • Quote from EA- her description of the song.

"So I'm home tonight finishing the lyrics for a song on my upcoming "Opheliac" album entitled "Gothic Lolita." Oddly enough, it's not about the fashion, though I am a huge f a n of that as well (duh), but rather about the real thing, if you know wheat I mean. Really, what's more "gothic" than a child who grows up dead because of emotional murder at the hands of hapless pedophiles? "

I do love the fashion though :)

  • I think it's more in tuned with Lolita by Vladdimir Nabokov. Really a great book, but I think that's what she really was referring to by "Lolita" but just my thoughts.

  • I think it's more about her personal connection to the book.

  • i♥this song

my first emilie autumn song :]

  • AWESOME song!!! ^-^

  • I don't think she's overrated. But that's my opinion..

    I love her =DD

    n this song :D

  • i lov this song and her i lov the fashion too

  • The song isn't based on the fashion. Emilie Autumn stated that herself: "Really, what's more 'gothic' than a child who grows up dead because of emotional murder at the hands of hapless pedophiles?"

It's a different take on Lolita and shouldn't be mistaken for a complete reference to either the fashion or the book.

  • EA's kinda overrated if you ask me...maybe I just need to get past her vocals.

  • I like the song, I just hate the fact that it's called "Gothic Lolita". This song has nothing to do with the EGL Japanese Fashion, but I afraid a lot of people confuse Vladmir's "Lolita" and the Elegant Gothic Lolita style.

  • Listening to more of her stuff; I still don't like this song. Some of it is real good though.

  • I like this song. And by the way, This is only the demo version she recorded with her laptop... The album version is a lot longer than this version (And her vocals are more rougher.) XD

And yes, This song isn't about the fashion at all. Emilie's said herself this song is about her childhood as a rape vitim... Although she doesn't discuss it much, And I don't blame her. And It's more than likely it's about the book titled 'Lolita' too, since Emilie is a fan of that book.

  • Er, Vitim? I meant Victim.

  • didn't like the song much but its beter than amy lee. pfft, like that says alot... Found it looking at Bloodflowerz. Allow me to recomind chaism - isolated and The Birthday Massacre or otep if your more a metal type person looking for something with a good female singer. Genitorturers is worth mentioning.

  • Hm... I love The Birthday Massacre. I might just look into the bands you mentioned myself. hehe

  • Lolita means "forbidden love" and the style is actually more about being seductive in a way that seems dark and mysterious

  • no its not. Lolita refers to a young girl under the legal age for sex being in a relationship with an older man. Forbidden love? mabye. Creepy: definatly. Something Emilie Autumn knows nothing about: for sure.

  • that's the modern use of the word. Yes, when we refer to lolita today it's a young girl in a relationship with an older man. But the words gramatical meaning is "forbidden love"

  • I've read somewhere that lolita means "childish", "innocent" and "playfull" O____o

  • Sounds strange... I've always got to know it means "forbidden love", which i thought might be right... The way the dress and act is very focused on seducing

  • The way who dress? The gothic lolitas are not seducing, not at all :0

  • They pretend to be little schoolgirls and such? Some got a fetish for that

  • SUCKS !! funny LOLS ...

  • lol midi

  • don't like this song ._.

  • this isnt the whole song??? "Thank you, kind sirs You've made me what I am today A bundle of broken nerves A mouthful of words I'm still afraid to say I don't mind telling you Now that I'm old enough to love I couldn't begin to Even if my pretty life depended on it And funny thing, it does"
  • this song is so poser, a girl is talking about being a gothic lolita while singing off key to dance music. Do u people even know what "lolita" means? Look it up posers.

  • Dear, do -you- know what being a lolita means? It's about manners and behaving like a lady or gentleman. It's about beauty. If someone seems to be posing as a lolita, simply turn up your nose and walk off, or give them a quiet scolding. This song isn't even about the fashion or lifestyle 'gothic lolita'; it's about Lolita, a book about a girl in a relationship with a much older man. Look it up, pigeon.

  • Jesus, you're a dipshit.

  • soooooo coooooooooooool!!!

  • worked for me. :] awesome

  • I love this song. Thank you very much for posting!

  • This video doesn't seem to play on my pc :/

  • Really? It works fine for me

  • works now maybe reuploaded it O_o lol i no cause when i deleted a video and i tryed watching it all it said was loading... that was all lol

  • No human being can be gods ! They're humans ! Amylee is just a good singer and Emilie Autumn is just a great amazing artist ! Children, stop fighting and watch the brilliant video, while listening to the great song !!! Come on !!

  • No human being can be any kind of god. Amy Lee is a goddess though...XD Leave it at that.

  • In my opnion you all need to stop discussing whether or not it is Amy Lee or how to spell Yuck. Unless someone out-and-out asks something, can't we just watch the video without having a fight raging underneath? -_-

Just makes no sense to me...

  • IT'S NOT AMY FUCKING LEE! Just because it's a woman singing dark gothy music does not make it Amy Lee.

Any ways, amazing song, my friend did a cover of this song with her bf (who lives in Chicago) and his band. :]

  • yuk ami lee sucks ¬¬

  • First off, Its not Amy Lee. Second, Amy Lee is a goddess, so stfu.

    Third...Its A-M-Y L-E-E. Get it right dipshit.

Fourth...Its Y-U-C-K...Do you honestly need online grammar lessons?

  • first: I know, this girl is Emilie Atumn no Amy Lee ¬¬ second: I only say: Amy Lee Sucks (for me ok??) third: In my country (Mexico) it's "yuk" and "iac"

  • Does anyone know where I can download this song? I personally don't like her voice very much but the song's really good.

Emilie Autumn's singing about the book Lolita right? People seem to have mixed ideas.

  • Thank you! You've put one of my favorite songs on.. she has such a beautiful voice. Gothic lolitas *drools* er.. fave! *mops up mess*

  • Oh I love her, she has a beautiful voice <33

  • emilie is my god! have you joined the bloomer bargaid

  • Great song

  • Thank you for posting this song. It's a beautiful work of art. It's very pleasing to the ear. =]

  • heyyoyo28439 i have a really good go kill your self.

  • i love Emilie Autumn, tho my name wouldnt show it, lol. This song is awesome

  • awsome song awsome voice very nice *adds to favorites*

  • this good but it wouldnt be something i'll listen to all the time but i really love her song Rose Red

  • i love loliats im one

  • That wasn't the whole song biznitch yah left out some parts, but still thnx for postin!

  • What do you have wedged up in your ass? You need to learn how to respect other people's opinions. While Emilie is a wonderful singer, Amy lee is a great singer as well, and you should respect that. They both have their talents, and comparing the two is like comparing Iggy Pop to The Rolling stones. But, judging by your horrendous display of immaturity, I doubt you even know who either of those two are.

  • awful

  • Bitch shut the fuck up, cuz noone cares what the fuck you have to say about her, she's a far better singer than Paris Hilton, why don't you go critisize someone who can't beat your ass!

  • Actually, no one cares about what YOU have to say. If you cannot respect other people's opinions, then don't bother to state your own. And you think you can compete with Hilton? She's rich and a social icon. While I don't care for her voice at all, I respect those who do. Hun, get some common sense, please.

  • xxxx

  • I think I kinda like it. Her voice is very unique like SpikeeNiikura said. Its not great, but I like to listen to it. Her music is also unique, which matches her voice. If someone like amy Lee (all hail Amy)were sing it, I think it wouldnt be as good, her voice just matches it.

  • how dare you compare Amy Lee and Emily Autumn.

They are two completley different artists!

    D<

  • yeah, the difference is that Emilie Autumn IS a real artist.

  • Amy Lee sux ass, she can't sing half as good as Emilie

  • other way around dipshit, emilie wishes she could match amy lee

  • this fucking suck!!!!

  • yeah well so do you, but you don't here anyone sayin it outloud, and BTW she doesn't suck, she sings ten times better than you're sorry ass!

  • lol this is really bad.

  • this is thw first song i´ve heard from her,and i really like it! her voice is very unique , but i think she´s a very cool singer and this song is real neat!

  • i love this song! then again i love all her songs....

  • I love this song! Emilie Autumn rocks..

I have both the EP and the Special Edition

I've got my love note right here...

  • I love this song! Thx for uploading~

  • lol this suck.

  • This isnt her best song. Not my fave by her at all.

  • It was good... Untill she opened her mouth. D: Because singing about pedofiles with medeocre vocals is so loli... Its not even the fact its about that which gets to me as i like Jonestown tea by OTEP, its just this song. D:

  • lol shes not singin about peedos shes singin about sum1 murdering her n that shes a dead little girl lol READ THE LYRICS Y DONT YA lol i luv it

  • I did read the lyrics. Thats how i got that impression, not from listening to the song. D:

  • just because she doesn't sing like kelly clarkson or amy from evanescence doesnt mean their mediocre. just different. she has her own style.

  • i love this song and all her other i just wish somewhere on the net there was some mp3 that i could have

  • pretty.

  • put more of her songs on here or tell me how to so i can lol

  • I love EA and this song too...
