Sorry, I made that first comment really really wordy. What I meant to ask was, If I can't find a place to do dips comfortably, could I replace dips with skull crushers instead?
This is calisthenics workouts which means only bodyweight Thats why he's not using real weights. Your body gets use to doing only bodyweight workouts like this! Which helps really good!
I'm not gonna lie, I'm a 16 yr old girl and I've been excercising a lot lately. Before I fell over doing only one. Now I'm actually able to keep up. :]
When I try these I feel a significant pain in my right elbow. I have had tendinitis in this elbow before. Is this just one exercise I should sit out or could I be doing it wrong??
@bboybeelzmon Hey ever heard of progression? Diamond pushups have always been easier because they don't work triceps as much as this. And considering the fact that you replied to a comment of mine that's almost 2 years old, I'll assume you're not the brightest fellows anyways.
Just curious, is it bad for your back doing the skullcrusher this way? I've always done them on my back with weights.. just curious as it looks like a good alternative when you're on the road or not able to get to a gym.
nah, this is better than doing them on your back. this way requires a lot of core tension during the exercise whereas doing them on your back with weights uses very little core or stabilizer muscles.
I would have to say its depending on what you are doing the exercises for, if you are doing them to condition for parkour then yeah this is more than likely going to help you more but doing skull crushers on your back isolates the tricep muscle more than this exercise.
Did these for the first time almost a week ago. Challenging and fun, definitely felt it :) I sort of discovered this exercise on my own a long time ago before I knew it was an actual exercise, but I didn't think anything of it, I just knew it was hard. haha
This exercise can be made harder in 3 ways. Depending on the degree to which you adjust these 3 ways, this exercise can be scaled to any level. Experiment with a combination of all 3 ways to find a challenging level for you.
1. The lower the wall, the harder the exercise becomes.
2. The more you bend at the elbows, the harder the exercise becomes.
3. When in the starting position, the straighter of a line you form with your body and arms, the harder the exercise becomes.
Wow that hurts you triceps! Nice exercise :)

If I have no walls around or anything like the such, could I replace dips with these? Or should I keep looking for places to do dips?
Tehmedic101 3 months ago
@Tehmedic101 If you cant find a 1-3 ft. tall stationary object to push of for this exercise, I think you need to be a bit more creative!

Teendayday007 1 year ago
@Teendayday007 Do it on a taller obstacle to start with. As you get better, you can do it on a shorter one which is much harder.

How high should the wall be?
UniversalTruths 2 years ago
the higher the wall, the easier it is. find a height that is challenging for you.

If it hurts your elbow, I would say stay away from it. Also double check your form to make sure you are doing it right.
DemonDrills 2 years ago
@cgwsc you should probably check with your doctor b4 you try this again! if the pain worsens it could end up very bad

Woah dang! I could barely do 3...
Thanks for this though! I've been trying to find a tricep workout that didn't require weights, and this is perfect!

youngtraceur 3 years ago
shoot for sets of 5-8 reps to build strength. if you are looking to build endurance, go higher than that.
DemonDrills 3 years ago
is it hard to do? it looks really strenuous..
