I think the 2012 movie was hyped. It had nothing to do with the end of the world. (It's not like the planet blew up into a gazillion pieces) The film however raised the question of our human species & our beautiful Earth. The plot of the movie was nature striking back at humans with its fury of natural disasters; leaving the human species crippled in the struggle for survival. Also raises the question of taking 'fate' in your own hands.
