critiques either loved this movie totally or hated it , but fact is it is a very risky concept , western audiences think everyone dies and goes to heaven but what happens when that person dies and thinks heaven is coming back to you........
I thought the movie was good till the end. I am really into weird/atmospheric movies (Donnie Darko, The Wicker Man, etc.), but the end when Nicole is crying on the beach....that's where I could not connect no dots at all. Also the letter thing, I'm confused about that too.
he used the letters to become sean..the letters were written by anna to sean when he was alive, but he never opened them to show clara he loved her more. When the kid saw clara bury the letters and dug them up, he read them and memorized things so anna would believe he was sean. The kid developed a second personality because he fell in love with clara's way of writting.
@edwierd256 then how did he know where he died? surely sean didnt see into the future and write, "oh btw im going to die under this tunnel today while i go for a jog" i believe he wasnt reincarnated but simply possesed, (there alot of Kubrick references in this movie, he wrote movies dealing with bein possesed) but not by something bad, rather seans good side. The side that loved Anna and didnt have an affair. Hence why he rembered where he died but only as dejvu..
@edwierd256 He was still developing his thoughts the letters helped him fully remeber. once he found out he had affair he feels unworthy for Anna and leaves the boys body
People didn't like it because they don't like to face the truth - the man Sean was unfaithful to his wife and dies of a guilty heart (falls on his knees) as the little boy falls on his knees when she sends him away. Does anyone have a video of what the little boy says when they are questioning him and he talks of splitting the atom and seems to know something about something odd going on between the Nicole character's sister and her husband?
Well, it is quite good that you connected the dots. The fact that he falls on his knees, that is remarkable. But I don't know what is going on between Laura and his husband. Please elaborate
The truth is that just like we have pathologic liers we have people that have to say the truth all the time. Yes, this people exist. Normally people like this have very, very good memory and that exactly protects them from lying. Great Authors have made reference to this in various literary works. So if Sean died because he was unfaithful, that is not good. Ana deserves the best!
Yes, it was a great movie. I love it at the beginning. When the author talks about being approached by a bird. That is so touching. I really don't understand why the Academy Awards didn't grab the depth and profoundness of this movie. But it has happened before in all the arts, like literature and painting, where years have to go by so that people really understand what was going on. It is the unknown!
I saw that movie on tv almost by accident and it was impressive!
I had no idea of the stir it caused. I can understand the reasons but then again the movie is done with taste playing on the atmosphere and imagination and succeeds. I think the stir vindicates it!
