I'm currently using a layer of strings and guitar on the entire board and turn of the guitar volume with my modwheel when I play a string chord, holding the strings with a pedal, but the downside to that is that I will have strings in the background of the guitar sound (though not very notable because the guitar sound is louder).

Ps. This would be really cool to play as a break in between songs when you have a gig.

Hi mate, I love this solo jam. I'm trying to recreate this setup on my pc3x and I've got a few questions.

1. What is the lead sound that you're using?

2. What are the effects you've used on this lead (have you tweaked anything that's not on the default programs)?

3. Are you using a split mode to keep the strings sounding in the background? (I'm currently switching between sounds on the entire board, holding the strings with a pedal, but the downi

@arduderjnn 1) Lead sound (which really is an elettric guitar sound) is Program #104 Rockin' Lead MW.

2) No effects, all parameters are as defaults.

3) Sound in background is a pad, not strings. It's Program #92 Wispy One. I recorded chord in Song Mode, then I played it in loop and at the same time I player the solo with guitar sound. :)

Some Pink Floyd and Dream Theater isn't really improv is it? More like a Jam. I'll let you have it. Not big on that lead sound though.

The pads are based on Pink Floys, with the lead there are also parts of Dream theater and Pink Floyd, but it's improvvised ;)

are u doing this "octavarium" effect with the modulation wheel? Cause i also have the PC3x but i just cant work well with the wheel...good job on the vid.

N, I didn't use modulation wheel. I only used pitch wheel and for the guitar distorsion effect used aftertouch :-)
