  • I've been in the market for a new netbook or tablet and stumbled across this. Best of both worlds it seems. While I like the Android OS I'm not crazy about it as I much prefer the Windows OS and even the Mac OS more but don't really like the design of the iPad OS. To limiting for my taste. This has sold me though. Might pick one up for my sister as well.

  • omg to slow , put ubuntu on it

  • Ive always stayed away from Eee PC cuz it seemed cheap..but looking at this it seems ohkay, its between this and the Lenovo Idea Pad S10-3T.. i have no clue which to pick, help?!

  • The socalled "annoying" stickers that display features and technical data about the product, serves as a general product advertising solution ("quick & simple" consumer information source) when they're exposed on store shelves.

  • I want a high performance tablet pc like this one. I have seen like a 100 deferent pads on the whole of youtube but I do not know which to buy. Please help. By the way, awsome vid man!!!!!!!!!!!

  • "What the... BEEP!" Haha I love this guy. And I agree about the stickers I hate that. Anyway I'm getting this soon sooo excited!

  • awesome i was thinking like hmmmm... ipad or computer and this is perfect best of both worlds

  • LOL "a photo viewer without any picrure is lots of FUN"!

  • smart point, this netbook doesnt need windows dvd maker cuz it doesnt have an optical drice

  • How much is it?

  • Thanks for video, could you tell me how loud is the coolong system?

  • mate, saw your vid and went and just bought this tonight- .asus should be paying you...very happy, just connected my samsung 24" to this and sweet it's built nicely...loaded with windows 7.. touch screen is responsive, and agree damn the stickers and removed the pre installed software...dvd...come on guys..great review well done

  • if you install youstreamit. you can play crysis if you have ur desktop pc turned on by streaming it. :D

  • Is this a dual core processor?

  • After you cleaned everything up, was the speed issue solved? I'm used to at least being able to format a computer and disable some settings to make them run acceptably fast, but this seems slow out of the box.

If you could describe overall speed after cleaning it up and specifically web browser speed, that would be great. Thank you.

  • oh, i luv u. first i thought it was col. hans landa speaking, LOL! and it has got nothing to do with the fact that ur german but just the way u speak. or was it deliberate on ur part, u channeling him? love u. this is certainly different from the mostly wooden gadget reviews.

  • 20 minutes review, and you don't even flip the screen around?

  • one last thing I forgot...needs at least 4gb of RAM (64bit designers will be able to do some cool stuff then)

  • 2 things about this netbook....should have 64 bit OS (its the future and the future is NOW) and a dual core processor and then it would be practically perfect....so maybe next years version I will get...ill stick with my 1201n for now...

  • i like these videos but why doesnt anyone ever go into tablet mode? well maybe its so we can actualy see the screen idk

  • Im On the fence with the Lenovo Idea Pad S10-3T or The ASUS Eee Pc T101MT. I dont know which one to get. Im trying to do comparisons. Im just kinda lost. HELPP!

  • @annabelhihi check out our massive 10-3t vs Gigabyte T1028 vs Viliv S10 video

  • @annabelhihi me too ! im kinda leaninq toward the Lenova thouqh . it's prettier .

  • @annabelhihi im having the same dilemma right now XD which one did you get?

  • My T101MT didn't come with the CD. Is it supposed to come with the CD?

  • OMG I love how you complain about the stickers. "I bought it already!" haha You sound very frank about everything. It makes your video not only informative, but also entertaining. :)

  • @BokuWaKaybo thanks for the feedback. these stickers are really annoying

  • @BokuWaKaybo i agree with you that was too funny lol

  • Thanks for the video.

I'm planning to get this with an extra 1GB upgrade and Win7 Home Premium. Can you tell us if the system can play HD streams (hulu/youtube) using flash 10.1 / updated graphic drivers without stutter? Likewise, if it can play stutter-free HD media using VLC Player or Media Player Classic?

Also, how responsive is the stylus for, say, class note-taking?

    Thanks.

It'd be great if it can at least handle 720P videos and decent input response for class notes.

  • @JaymarkTech it won't be able to run 720p videos. sorry

  • @JaymarkTech

Installing Ubuntu and VLC can allow you to play 720p videos flawlessly. I am able to do it on an older netbook (Lenovo S10).

    @minipcpro

Great video! I want one. :D

  • @minipcpro With CoreAVC it will easily run a 1080p video.

  • @minipcpro no It's able if you have STUWAIN. (I don't know exactly what this program is, but its rising 1.58 GHz to 2.15 GHz). If I made mistake pleas excuse me. (and Sorry for my bad english)

  • @minipcpro So wait, this wont play anything HD above 720p, including youtube vids??

  • @JaymarkTech

Installing Ubuntu and VLC can allow you to play 720p videos flawlessly. I am able to do it on an older netbook (Lenovo S10).

  • @calib88 Good to know, but I'll need to check if it performs similarly under Win7. I just ordered this, will receive Wednesday and will let everyone here know. Thanks for the info.

  • @JaymarkTech Not quite. Flash Video Above 480p is a no go. Despite this, Media Player Classic can Handle 720p .mkv files easily, but VLC stutters like crazy with .mkv Also Windows Media Player can play 720p .mp4 smoothly. This info comes from a desktop Single core 1.6Ghz Atom and Intel GMA950 running on a 1920x1080 Screen (using VGA)

  • @eppik I know this now because I recently purchased this netbook tablet. I'm actually doing my own set of videos on it. Two are done so far. Visit my channel to watch them plz =)

  • christoph waltz?

  • Its not the SSD that is slow. Its the RAM. You need to upgrade to 2 GB quick. Windows 7 uses nearly to 1 GB you have on its own.

  • @dark777888 believe me, it is first of all the preinstalled software. 2GB of RAM gives you a performance plus on the desktop of Win 7 in combination with Atom N450 of around 20%, means you can feel it. I have half a dozen netbooks with 2GB RAM and can tell when one has a slow HDD and lots of bloatware installed

  • @minipcpro Okay, i never really though an SDD would be an issue like that. Ive never owned a netbook before though so ill take your word for it. After stripping down all that junk software on it does it run okay though? Cuz im really looking into getting one of these netvertible things and the T101MT looks like a great idea. Any others that are better?

  • @dark777888 it runs perfectly now. fresh installation of windows 7 ultimate on a kingston 30GB SSD Now V. Another nice netvertible to consider would be the Gigabyte T1028

  • @minipcpro Okay cool, ill give it a look. Thanks for the help. I currently have a sony vaio laptop which is great but i need the portability of something smaller.

  • @minipcpro When you installed the SSD, how was the warranty voided? Were you forced to break a seal or sticker placed somewhere?

  • Comment removed

  • @dark777888 If you find SSDs to be too expensive, you can purchase a Class 6 4GB SDHC Flash Memory and use it for TurboBoost. I'm using this on a laptop with a 5400RPM hard drive and there is a noticeable difference in performance. It's a bit safer to do too because replacing the hard drive of the T101MT will void the warranty. If you can afford the SSD and do not care for the warranty, by all means, go for it.

  • @JaymarkTech Ill definitely do the SSD since you all say it boosts performance by a ton. Im not really worried about the warranty either.

  • @dark777888 Turbo-Boost will only really be noticeable in a low ram system like this. Therefore, it is noticeable on netbooks with low end specs. It will not give you the same wow factor as adding another DIMM and an SSD. If you don't care for the warranty, replace the hard drive. Even a cheap SSD will outperform the included drive in read/write speed. But try to get at least a 64GB one and make sure it has TRIM technology (a form of automatic memory management that keeps write speed up)

  • @JaymarkTech So if i get a nice new SDD and upgrade the ram to the max 2gb it should all be good you think?

  • @dark777888 For it's purpose, yes. The SSD and extra ram will make loading programs and files a lot snappier.

  • oh yeaaaahh :) 10 inch.. not a netbook size anymore like some people said

  • how much?

  • He sounds like bruno:P

  • @tubekolla there is no Acer Travelmate with 10.1" display, sorry. Netbooks are all about 10-inch in these days but i agree with you, there would be a market for 8.9-inch

  • Put Linux on it, I bet it's faster.

  • cant you just add more ram to m,ake it go faster

  • I like the fact that computer makers are finally moving away from the glossy finishes.

  • how do you change the operating system to english??

    thanks so much!

  • @t0i0n0a i just had the option when i booted it up for the first time

  • This ships with Windows 7 starter and starter does not support multi touch. Install 7HP or better to get better performance and multitouch.

  • @Otacon421 there are 2 different versions. In Europe and Asia it ships with Windows 7 HP

  • Do you think this pc is worfth buying if it comes with windows 7 home premium or should i buy something else?

  • @j0kerowner make sure to not buy the Windows 7 starter edition one. it really sucks. the 7 HP is fine

  • umm does the pen come with the pc and if not did u buy some special pc touchscreen pen or just some normal pen :D?

  • @j0kerowner yes, it comes with this stylus pen

  • no offense but i would go with the dell mini 10v! i mean the one i got, its a intel atom n270 clocked @ 1.66GHZ with xp(i later installed 7) and it was running fast out of the box! even with all that *beeping* dell preinstalled crap! again no offense and i NOT trying to be mean.

  • Do u have rewview or demonstration how to install SSD and how much faster does it work after that. I want to buy a tablet pc. For me COST and SPEED are important, i know I cannot get both of them at the same time, but i can try to get the best possible solutions. I like this laptop, but if its slow i do not want to buy it. I am just going to do web surfing and documenting stuff, no games etc. So i need the speed to do only documents, presentation etc.

  • looks nice but i heard it is not a capicitive touch so finger swipe is sluggest and crappy according another video review that demo the finger swipe.

  • bad review...u should show more finger gestures...can it do 2 fingers touch...pinch??....

  • @DJTEVAdotCOM do i really need to answer this comment? Yes i need to. Sweety, how about taking a look at the title? It says UNBOXING and FIRST IMPRESSIONS. not review at all.

    Read ---> Think ---> Comment!

  • so out of the two.. which do you recommend. the T101MT or the Gigabyte T1000?

  • @dirtylicious i really like booth but the build quality of the T101MT is slightly better

  • @minipcpro for the reply back. So after 2 weeks and cleaning up the crapware, has the performance gotten any better?

  • @dirtylicious it flies now... i did a complete fresh installation on a new Kingston SSD Now V 30GB

  • Don't diss on the stickers... lol... We Asians love our stickers :P

  • @pogularocky yeah i know ;) I think it's just a waste of ressources, even though the systems would be more expensive cause of course all these manufacturers are paying for this

  • @minipcpro

I think the component manufacturers like the video cards (ATI or Nvidia) or processors (AMD or Intel) and so on push the PC manufacturers to advertise their components through labels. They want to make sure you know it has an Intel of an ATI or Samsung screen or whatever.

  • its slow. too bad

  • For those asking about the memory upgrade, it will only support a 1GB module, being used in combination with the onboard 1GB of memory, for a total of 2GB.

As far as the speed of the memory it is in fact DDR2-800. I have tested this to be true.

  • Hey Sascha!

As you tested this netbook, I have two important questions:

    1) How "loud" is the fan? I just bought a HP Mini 5102 and I could not work with it due to the noise of the fan!!! Is the T101 pretty silent (e.g. compared to the Samsung N150 - my sister uses it and you can never really "hear" the fan working)?

    2) Do you know if this unit will come with integrated UMTS in the near future?

Thanks for your help and greetings from bavaria! :)

  • @Neokazaki

you can't hear the fan at all, at least i never did and i am still very confident that i can hear pretty well ;)

i am pretty sure that we will see a 3G version in the future but i can't tell you when, sorry.

  • Hi again - I got this machine, trying to upgrade RAM using a 2GB Kingston PC2-5300 module but Windows 7 Ultimate (I upgraded the OS) isn't recognizing it... does it only take max 2GB? I also tried a 1GB PC2-6400 module but it isn't recognizing that either.. any ideas?

  • @basel009 that's weird. did you check your BIOS? is it recognizing the 2GB module?

  • @minipcpro yes, i checked the bios but no luck... i was able to get a 1GB PC2-6400 module to get recognized (bringing the total RAM to 2GB) but neither of the PC2-5300 modules are getting recognized..

  • @basel009 sorry i got it wrong. you can only upgrade it to 2GB in total

  • Comment removed

  • Hey mate great review. Im on the edge of buying a T101 but i was wondering if you managed to speed it up a little bit by cleaning out all those rubbish programs?

  • Bang!, get ...:D

  • Thanks very much. Do you mind telling me if I can put win 7 pro 32 bit upgrade or will I have problems. You really gave a wonderful review and I appreciate it as it will be months before it will come to Israel. Fredy

  • @fredyr68 hey Fredy. You won't have any problems installing Windows 7 32bit on it, not matter what version

  • @minipcpro Thanks for the quick reply. Your review is the best I have seen . Thanks again. fredyr

  • god asus please put the ion2 and a 1366x768 in these, it would be the undisputed king of netbooks

  • So much crapware. I would just whip the HDD and reinstall windows.

  • Thanks for the review.. what kind of DD2 SODIMM memory does it take? i.e. PC2-4200 or 5300 or 6400?

  • @basel009 get the pc-5300 sodimm

  • @minipcpro Thank you!

  • Great review...have you tried out inking the the stylus yet? I'd love to see a demo...so far all the touchscreen netbooks I've seen seem to fail at performing anywhere near the level of the higher end tablets which use active digitizing technology.

  • Hey, just wondering when the second review with the reinstalled Windows 7 is coming out. Thanks for the reviews, this netvertible definitely looks promising.

  • @Weedontoast7 the ASUS 1201N, Samsung N510 and Lenovo Ideapad S12 are also sporting Ion chipsets
