this game is really awsome! Anyone who likes RPG's, Sonic charas, or fast battles will love this game! I got it for my sweet 16th, and i'm already addicted to it! get itXD. its MUCH better than the shadow game. its not flawless, but it is very, very good. it has a bit of a slow begining but it picks up. iv been a fan of sonic fan since the start but im also very critical of their recent games, some of which have been decent/ok and others(most actually) which have been down right terrible.

this game is not for everyone but if you like rpg's and sonic i would recomend it. its enjoyable

According too Wikipedia, the eleven party characters are (SPOILERS): Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, Amy, Shadow, Rouge, E-123 Omega, Cream, Big, Shade, & Eggman. Although I personally think Shade is Blaze being controlled.

The Epic part is that you control what Sonic says (OK, that's cool) and there are Cutscenes that are fully animated comic style with a grand amount of actual movement.

I'm open to the possibility of this being good, but, honestly, NOTHING from any of the promotional material released so far has roused any interest from me. All details of the story we have so far suggest that it's going to be the same sort of failfest that Sonic 06 and Shadow were.

Sonic doesn't need EPIC STORYTELLING. It needs solid characters with believable personalities that actually relate to eachother. Not cardboard cutout anime cliches.

The combat also looks shitty.

We'll see. I fear they're going to make the whole thing excessively grimdark (hell, look at the title), and that this will extend to the characters. We don't need a whole cast of angsty losers like Shadow. I'm thinking more along the lines of Azumanga Daioh, which has some of the best character interaction I've seen, and was alot of fun for it.

Hell, Sonic Battle wasn't far off in this respect. So maybe this'll get it right. As I say, we'll see, but my breath isn't exactly bated.

What about the title? The title means nothing. I don't get what it is about a title that has the word Dark in it that makes people think that it's going to be on par with Evangelion or maybe just ShtH, but it's really stupid, because really it doesn't mean anything. Oh and Shadow isn't an "Angsty loser." Not currently anyway.

Bioware says that the team working on this are big Sonic fans. Everything they've said in interviews says they'll respect the source material and I'm going to trust them.

Um, a title means EVERYTHING. They wouldn't put the word "dark" in a title if the product had no such aspect to it. That's common sense. The promotional art has all been along those lines, too (well, the stuff that isn't horrible Sonic X style rehash).

The team working on Unleashed also give the impression that they're big fans and are trying to respect the series. So they created the werehog. Woo.

Again: everything we've actually SEEN has been discouraging. I'll naysay until I'm proved wrong.

No it doesn't. The only thing that Dark Brotherhood means is that the brotherhood mentioned is evil. That doesn't mean it's going to be grimdark. That's what I was saying. It is true that Bioware has also said that the story will be a bit darker than most Sonic games, but that doesn't mean it's going to be a grimdark either. I'm thinking more along the lines of SA2 lvl rather than ShtH lvl. Bioware also has better writers than Sonic Team so I'm sure they can pull it off.

As for Unleashed, that's being made by a section of Sonic Team, so that's a different story all together. Who knows, maybe the Werehog will work, we don't know yet. All I know is that a few Sonic fans on a forum I frequent got to play SC:DB at Summer of Sonic and they loved it, and no Sonic fans have played Unleashed yet, that I know of.

Seeing as I feel I can trust these particular fans more than a game reviewer or a PR guy, then I'm going to put my faith in Sonic Chronicles.

there isnt a whole lot of details from the story, so I wouldnt judge that yet. Sonic 06's storyline wasnt bad, but it wasnt really great either, same for shadow. I agree on the second paragraph. so you think the combat looks bad? well thats how it is in most RPGs before they're released. Golden Sun's battle system didnt look all that great when that was in development, but when the game came out, it turns out as one of the greatest RPGs ever made.

I am a mid oldschool and newschool fan. The first games I played were oldschool but I enjoy some 3D games. Most 2D games were good if they were on a Home Console, while the 3D games were pretty good. The only bad games if you go by reviews and exclude the directors cuts, are Shadow, and Sonic 06. I like many different types of games so I'll give this a try.

Chaos, Tikal, and others from the old games, like Bean, Mighty and even Ray! And about making new styled Sonic games... I would agree, only if they kept the Genesis Sonic style.
