The trajectory from Iran to the US goes right over Europe. Also, w/ respect to N. Korea, google Taepodong. That's their current attempt at a long range missle, and they have been working on it and tested it in 2006.  So I would say Keith would have been more accurate if he said they don't have a *successfully tested and proven* missle that can reach Europe. That doesn't mean it will always be that way...

Keith is often funny, but sometimes (like this case) he can lay on the stupid. The shield would be able to protect Europe (not just Poland). There is no way the number of interceptors planned to go into Poland could even begin to defend against Russia's massive stockpile, and a shot to the US from Russia wouldn't even be able to be defended from Poland (the trajectories just don't work).  Keith is on sometimes, but here he just shows his ignorance.

but the shield would include advanced radar systems that would be able to monitor russia. so we are basicly telling the russians we are going to surround you with a military alliance that we head fund and arm your enemies ignore your grievances and build a missile defense system that can monitor your airspace. Now you're getting to some arguments that might mean something (and are quite independent of missile defense), as opposed to the stupidity Keith was blowing in this segment. It seems that from your comment you would consider the monitoring of their airspace the more egregious offense, but that is already done quite extensively and has been since the cold war. And as far as arming their enemies, there is really no way the GMD system could be used offensively. It is cannot re-enter the atmosphere.
