Nothing in all history had ever succeeded like America, and every American knew it.Nowhere else on the globe had ever nature been at once so rich and so generous, and her riches were available to all who had the enterprise to take them and the good fortune to be white.Progress was not,to him,a philosophical idea but a commonplace of experience:he saw it daily in the steady rise of community and nation to wealth and power.I love American history.
the folks in this clip may not have had a lot of money but they had something more important , they had a connection to the land and their neighbors that is missing today , also people did with a lot less , and did not have all of the tech junk we have today i think they were better for it . how many family sit down at the kitchen table with their kids today ? too busy working to pay for a 60,000.00 dollar kitchen they never even eat in
this video depresses me. There is something about today's culture that feels so distant. In a world where technology brings us all closer virtually, I feel more distant than ever from everyone around me.
I look at the blacks and I look at the whites. Everyone seems so happy. But then I have to remind myself that this is still the period where racism is rife and lynchings took place against people of a different colour... And for me, any period in any country which contains something so terrible cannot be called a "Golden Age".
We wont blame the faults of a few on the many of us that live here in North America! I live in Canada, and I LOVE America and Americans! For it is important to note and remember their administration truly is not representative of the people! As we have persevere in the past so shall we again! "The Library of Congress recently released color photographs of everyday citizens taken during America's Great Depression and it's early recovery. The images posses a great deal of character and evoke the essence of what it means to be an American, perseverance."
its sad but i feel that in the next 2 years you will see this all over again. in the 1930's people helped each other out. what do you think that the me generation will do? god forbid
All logic to the contrary. President Bill Clinton left office in 2001 with a federal budget surplus of $127 billion. President George Bush ran a deficit of $319 billion in 2005. This numbers are from the non-partisan Office of Management and Budget. In what way is Bush's record "conservative"?
In no way at all is boy George conservative. (in case you're thinking there is a real difference between the big players in each party, know that they are both controlled by the same people)
Again, politics is irrelevant. The next president, whoever that may be, will preside over an economic collapse because that is what our actual rulers desire.

There were about 265,000 Asians in America back in 1930. That's about 2/10ths of 1 percent of the entire population. More chance in photos from the West and not the South or Midwest like these photos.
oh you americans and your great depression... there is still hope, this video shows that even in so hard times there still is hope!!! tell that to ppl in subsaharian africa and show them how hard it was during the "depression"
Its all relative... this was a horrific period of time for these people. If you were watching your children die of malaria and malnutrition while your government stood by and yelled at you to keep moving, would you be thinking about people in Africa? I think not.
Poor, self-absorbed kayakto: remember that next time you lose a loved one, or go broke and end up on the street, that what happens to you doesn't matter. You don't matter. Everyone on earth lives a perfect life, because there are people in "subsaharian" africa... Seriously, why do you little people with little minds make yourselves so easy to ridicule?
While I respect the right of every non-American to use every YouTube video that mentions America as an opportunity to bash the country, I think you ought to use a little more discretion. This video does not promise scenes from The Great Depression, and is not about The Great Depression. It's called "America's Golden Age." Thanks anyway.

That's become the default position of the people who bash Clinton - they pretend that GW Bush is not one of theirs.
You just implied that a Hillary Clinton administration would cause a depression. I pointed out that Bush has trashed surplus.
Sorry, you cannot have it both ways. I'm no great fan of Hillary, but it is impossible to do worse than this administration.
