  • Great Gene McLellan composition. One of Anne Murray's best. Nice flute and instrumental backing.

  • But I wish that flute would take a hike.

  • Her best song by far. What a beauty too.

  • I grew up loving this song as Anne continues to have a huge fan base in the US .This song reminds me of another song by a Canadian songwiter Lennie Gallant. I would love to hear her sing "Pieces Of You'.

  • Love that this was written for her!

  • Such pure tones. And to sing like that live.

  • Hands down my favorite Anne Murray song. The last time I saw her in 2006, I requested it during the unplugged portion of the show and she did it beautifully.I'm sad to hear she is no longer performing live.

  • The REAL ANN MURRAY!!!!...The NEW Ann, only comes close!

Gene's daughter, Catherine is taking over where he left off,..What a song writer, singer & performer!

  • WHAT A SONG ! i know the pain, i still feel it. thanks ANN, and thank you GENE for your gift to us all.

  • This came so early in Anne's career and I have everything she ever recorded and this I think is still the finest recording she ever did (which in her case is saying something indeed). What amazes me about her recording career is that in her later albums she was still discovering worthy new songs and rediscovering almost forgotten songs. She was never satisfied with the ordinary. Hearing her sing this always makes me cry.

  • Wow, my mom told me about Anne when i was 10, i"m 47 now an have most of mom's records. So anne"s here, in my heart an on my turntable. We love you sweet lady.sc..

  • omg i saw this now for the first time and to think it was out there for what 40 years!

  • Fantastic. I love this song. It is so nice to see these performances.

  • This is a wonderful post and I thank the poster for so graciously sharing it.

One small thing for those who might search for this song on the Internet or in old record stores: the title is "Just Bidin' My Time."

  • My daughter sings Danny's Song to her baby... which brought up Anne Murray. And this song (not the flip side, Snowbird - the hit) was the next song of hers that came to mind. Nice to see so many others flipped their 45 and found it, too! I still remember every word.. "...but till the light says goodbye to the night and your face I see, I'll just keep bidin' my time while the glow from the wine makes a fool of me." One of my very favorites of hers..short, sweet, honest...and unforgettable.

  • A great singer, so richly gifted!

  • I've heard her sing it a hundred times and I cry everytime. There is so much truth and pain in the song and she from the start understood it entirely.

  • Classic Anne Murray! Polite, a lady all the way. I listened to this LP all the time in the early 70's and 90's. A very rich sound, like butter! Thanks rockpopjazz007, for posting this.

  • I have this on an old, very beat up 45 (on the reverse side of Snowbird). I wonder if I could ever find a cleaner copy of this song without the distracting surface noise from the vinyl being scratched up.

  • I heard this first on her Snowbird album when I was 10 in 1970. Still one of her best songs ever. Thank you for posting.

  • Perfect!

  • This is one of songs that inspired me to become a song writer.......so much to learn from this song and after 40 years I'm still humbled

    love Ann Murray

  • first lady of Canadian Song

  • so sweet. this has been one of my favorites. Thanks for posting.

  • Gene McClellan and a man named Gary Buck , magical musical geniuses from our great land of Canada

  • I think I played this song as much as the flipside - Snowbird. What a classy lady -- look at her glowing back then, all fresh and sensual. not painted like a geisha girl in heat. thank you for the freshness of these vids, and her continuing beauty, even now.

  • this is one, classy lady and performer. this song, and the other side of the record, remember "snowbird?" :), was an awesome debut for annie. we love you annie, and thank you for giving altos a good name.

  • I'm what is called a newbie to you tube, but I could get emotionally turned on by this music. I just love this womans musical artistry.

  • Such a nice McClellan tribute. WOW. I wore my record out with this song. Flip side of "Snowbird. What a gorgeous lady.
