Sportscenter from 1995-2000 was the best. You had Dan Patrick, Keith Olbermann, Charley Steinner, Craig Kilborn, Bob Ley, Kenny Mayne... the anchors were all just great. I still watch it now but its not like it was then..
Dan Patrick was really popular when he joined Sportcenter with Keith Olbermann. When he left the program, he stared in his own program, "The Dan Patrick Show". It has been a dud thus he has past his prime. In other words Dan was no longer interesting.
It used to be that I could not, possibly would not ever dare miss the 11pm SC. There were amazing in those days. Now, to tell you the truth, I can't remember the last time I watched one. It's boring. I miss Keither, Dan and Kenny
Keith Olbermann, Dan Patrick = best sportscasters EVER!! ... i want the Darvin Ham backboard smash clip with them doing the commentary, but i cant find it anywhere.. it was the best!!
This may have been sportscenter at it's best but ESPN as a whole completely blew. THey would play/air the same shit all day long for like 6 hrs...shit was quite possibly the worst station on TV after the first 4 hrs. Then that bodybuilding shit they used to air for 3 hrs back to back to back? Oh god, that was horrendous.
@EmceeNolan Exactly. They may have been desperate for mid-day programming in the 90s, leading to bodybuilding, roller hockey, cheerleading, & a variety of other bizarre fringe sports making an appearance on the ESPN airwaves, but at least they were showing actual athletic events. Now they spend far more time talking about sports than actually showing them. Maybe it wouldn't be so bad if what the talking heads said wasn't cliche-laden tripe... but it's basically 98% cliche-laden tripe.
They really need to go back to this. I know we all feel like everything in the world reached perfection when we were 10 years old, but in this case SportsCenter really did reach perfection when I was 10 years old. What they do today is a pale imitation.
