  • So i herd you liek mudkipz !

  • but tablets have sad dam ass ><

  • Now try to open photoshop.....

  • fyi a tablet is meant to start up that fast so it can't truly be compared to boot up with a lap macbook or any laptop for any reason.

  • so i herd you liek mudkipz?

  • so, i herd u liek mudkips

  • I would still go for Mac OS simply because i need to access terminal with the nature of my work. If Windows 8 has that option, then i may consider but so far Windows OS have failed miserably in terms of flexibility with terminal.

  • EPIC. Windows for life!

  • you .... turn off your laptops?

  • @Voxnulla To do boot tests.

  • @Shrimp4074 And that tells you .. what ??? How your system would have started up in a post 90's computing paradigm ?

What the fuck does anybody care who reboots ones every 3 to 6 months ?

  • its not the operating system that counts most times. its whats inside the computer. idiots.

  • @smiletehk Words to live by!

  • yeah but in the HDD hierarchy: High perforcance ssd >>>SSD>>>>>>>>>>7200rpm HDD>>>>5400rpm.

  • For example: I have a 27" imac with a core i7 920, 8 gigs ram, and 1TB spinner, from the refit menu boot times are:

    34.86 Sec - OSX Lion

30.94 Sec- Win8 (bare with no services, like anti-virus, windows update,etc..)

when comparing the speed of OSes you need to get rid of discrepancies and be as objective as possible. In my lowly opinion, it is still too early to claim a victor.

  • I see your point, but does the "low-end" tablet have a solid-state disk? because that makes a huge difference, what I had mentioned that you should have dual-booted your macbook pro with windows 8 and then timed each boot, that would have given a more accurate and real-world test. If you are booting a full computer vs. a tablet there are differing variables that will affect boot times.... Not hatin' or trolling, just making a mere observation.

  • So wait a minute, Is it me or is this test a little off? I mean if you wanted to truly test one OS against the other wouldn't you want to use the same hardware?

  • @benbudge The MacBook Pro is twice as powerful as the tablet and it still loses by over 30 seconds. I don't see any reason to go find a weaker Mac to do the comparison with when it already loses that badly.

  • gratz, thats an old macbook.. buy a new one and try again

  • @SkumpiJ nobody with a real brain is gonna buy mac after windows 8, windows 8 boots faster than osx with lower hardware specs, is gonna be able to run all windows 7 software, xbox 360 compatible, metro gui enabled or disabled, is the best of windows 7 plus plus many other things...osx is obsolete already, and no, you CANT run REAL WINDOWS using genetics bootcamp or virtualization drivers than cant comunicate properly with the hardware. Your W7 on your mac was genetic NOT REAL, was slow that way.

  • @SkumpiJ The 2011 MacBook Pro takes 27 seconds to boot, still over twice as long as the Windows 8 boot, so it wouldn't make a difference. Not to mention the Tablet in this video isn't high-end, so why would I use a top of the line MacBook Pro to do a comparison anyway?

  • apple got assfucked

  • OSX is dead already!!!

  • Cook, you watchin' this?

  • wtf no u cheated
