Big deal. I'm an atheist and even I know that the Bible was never supposed to capture every single thing. Did Jesus eat? Yes, the Bible says so. Did Jesus poop? Of course the Bible isn't going to mention that but we know if he ate he must have pooped. It wasn't included because it wasn't relevant. Remember in biblical times we thought all of Creation extended no further than Saturn. The possible existance of life elsewhere just wasn't relevant to the times but that doesn't rule it out.
@mvanroy Actually, in Biblical times the Hebrews were well aware that the heavens stretch out to the stars and beyond. I think youre referring to the age of Galileo or some other philosopher's time when common knowledge took a step back.

This is one of the reasons why I think religion is human made, especially christianity. The belief that this god created the entire universe consisting of hundreds of billions of galaxies, and thats just in the observable universe. What we see is probably only 1 small part of a much larger universe. Yet out of all that a god made only 1 little speck of a planet the only place with life. It dosen't make any sense. Why waste all that immense space. To me it's obvious religion is human made.

If everyone just has their own take on interpretation of scripture, it will lead to chaos. The Church isn't perfect, because it's made up of imperfect people. I'd assume that this was just the explanation people came up with before evolution was prooven to exist. Over time, significant chaneg happens. the idea behing evolution ISN'T that two animals have sex and a completely new animal pops out. It's that small changes are made until you get to something completely different. That argument made absolutely not sense.

Almost no two living creatures are geneticaly identical. If an animal is born with a trait that is beneficial, then it will pass on those genes to its children, and thus the evolutionary process begins. Also, there is overwhelming evidence that humans did not come into being immediately after the world started.

If aliens do exist, (at the moment there is no real evidence in support of this) then all the Church is saying is that God created the universe and everything in it. Big deal. I'm an atheist and even I know that the Bible was never supposed to capture every single thing. Did Jesus eat? Yes, the Bible says so. Did Jesus poop? Of course the Bible isn't going to mention that but we know if he ate he must have pooped. It wasn't included because it wasn't relevant. Remember in biblical times we thought all of Creation extended no further than Saturn. The possible existance of life elsewhere just wasn't relevant to the times but that doesn't rule it out.

This is one of the reasons why I think religion is human made, especially christianity. The belief that this god created the entire universe consisting of hundreds of billions of galaxies, and thats just in the observable universe. What we see is probably only 1 small part of a much larger universe. Yet out of all that a god made only 1 little speck of a planet the only place with life. It dosen't make any sense. Why waste all that immense space. To me it's obvious religion is human made.

Aliens are "real" in a sense, but don't be fooled, they aren't what they say they are. I believe these beings are fallen angels(demons) and they are trying to trick people into believing they made us. In the Bible it says God created Adam and Eve, and there was no mention of other alien life.

The blood cells are found living even though its been exposed to nature for centuries, and red blood cells can only live outside of the body for about 120 days. The muscle is found in the heart. Because, when I read it, I get the opposite. I plainly see the Bible call Peter the Rock, and explain it according to it's context. I see the same thing with Mary.

@PraiseandadoreHim Hello, my friend. Thank you for your comment. I, too had great difficulty when reading the passage. My mind was focussed on that one sentence. It wasnt until i imagined myself right there and read the entire passage, not just the sentance that i realised that Christ was speaking of Himself as the rock, and not Peter. Even Peter said he was just a fellow believer. There is even NO evidence for the papacy from Peter himself.

If everyone just has their own take on interpretation of scripture, it will lead to chaos. The Church isn't perfect, because it's made up of imperfect people. But it is instituted by Christ, that is clear in scripture. You do know that Peter translates to Rock, right?

The original Greek says "for thou art petros, and upon this petra I shall build my church." Petros is masculine for 'pebble' and petra is feminine for 'rock'. Christ is the rock, not Peter.

No where does the NT dictate fancy buildings, robes, repetitive prayer, a priesthood, Mary worship, sectarianism, or any order of service, etc.. all these are man made traditions added on.

I'd assume that this was just the explanation people came up with before evolution was prooven to exist. Its quite possible that god created life well before the Genesis claims. there is no other way to justify your religion, as there is no way evolution doesn't exist.

Over time, significant chaneg happens. the idea behing evolution ISN'T that two animals have sex and a completely new animal pops out. It's that small changes are made until you get to something completely different. That argument made absolutely not sense.

Almost no two living creatures are geneticaly identical. If an animal is born with a trait that is beneficial, then it will pass on those genes to its children, and thus the evolutionary process begins. Also, there is overwhelming evidence that humans did not come into being immediately after the world started.

For the last 30 years or so I have been studying religions and cults as a hobby. If a person is honest and sincerely seeking the truth, it is hard to deny the amazing things which God has 'built' into His Word. Something none of the other beliefs can lay claim to.

@asimomantech Actually it's not hypocrisy.The Catholic Church does not impose its beliefs on others. She only seeks to proclaim the truth. If aliens do exist, (at the moment there is no real evidence in support of this) then all the Church is saying is that God created the universe and everything in it. If there are "aliens" or others forms of life outside of earth, it is of God's creation. Though interesting, it's a pointless debate. The Church will cross that bridge when we get to it, if ever.

I also know well of the Crusades and Inquisitions, which haters of my faith have rightfully dragged out for centuries after they have occured. Some of what happened during those events was good. Most was not. I recognize that my Church is not perfect, for it is made up of imperfect people. Throughout history, it has been noted that sometimes bad people used a good thing (the Church) and corrupt it for their own selfish purposes.

@Grimwork Yeah, I can understand that point of view, I share it actually. At the same time, I don't think the opposite view is necessarily ego-centric. I mean, Christ died for our sins on Earth. I think it would be beautiful if he had actually created all of this just for us, to show us how much he loves us. If Earth is the only planet that can support life, how much more precious it would become, you know? But I still agree.
