I'll install one in my t04z above and would like to know if the pressurization goes straight to the intercoooler turbine and intercooler to the intake manifold, BOV without in any of these paths?
@tubestick00 So he's a coward for driving his car in a reasonably sensible manor whilst having a bit of fun, compared to driving so fast he can't brake in time to avoid the car coming round the next tight mountain bend. Grow up
@30ounceBounce Thanks for the support. I've been a passenger on this road in a vehicle which lost control and I nearly was killed as a result. I have a respect for what can and does go wrong. I have nothing to prove to anyone, especially morons like @tubestick00 - I dont feel the need to speed and act recklessly simply to impress them. I'm glad some people understand that :)
@markwtf82 to be fair the car probably has a lot more power that could be used on a road like that. barely coming onto full boost before having to start braking. cant wait to get my new car out to the mountains, should be nice with the twins even if i dont have 500hp.
true compressor surge is when the turbo is to big for the motor. it literally makes more air/boost for the engine to use. resulting in excess air stalling the turbo. this is just lift of flutter. sigh its harmless.
@flynniz I took my BOV off my STOCK turbo, and it flutters. Compressor surge is not when the turbo is too big for the motor, its when the air has no where to go, ie. no bov.
@joshs088008 Real compressor surge is when you have a mismatched turbo. It happens under throttle and effectively pushes more air than the engine takes in, causing blowback and is what can cause damage to turbos - exhaust gases pushing heavily on the turbine wheel and excessive backpressure on the compressor. Running no bov is essentially the same, pushing more air than the engine can ingest as you shut the throttle... It doesnt cause the damage most youtube nubchanics scream about though.
Guys, you can stop arguing already.. the car had NO BOV. That noise is flutter/compressor surge. As for all the e-warriors that persistently tell me that the "turbo will blow up" - I did 30,000kms on that turbo setup over 2 years, and its still going strong today, making over 500rwhp the whole time, all day, every day on pump fuel. If that doesnt disprove everyones theory then I dont know what will. People can say whatever they want behind the safety of their computer desk, but this is 1st hand!
@markwtf82 I cannot thumbs up that comment enough. So many car experts on youtube, funny how they ALL know about turbocharging and the effects of compressor surge.
@firat123456789 fırat sesin açıklaması fluid mechanics bilgisiyle kolay olur. bu gibi yüksek basınç çalışan turbolarda blow off koyamazsın zaten. ama ufak motora yüksek basıncı blow off suz verirsen ya turbo salyangozu ölür ya şaft:D
This is *unmistakably* compressor surge, through and through. The only possibility of a modern relief valve producing this sound is one with an impossibly stiff valve spring that even engine vacuum in conjunction with charge pressure could not overcome. Relief valves are omitted purposely by owners in Asian markets and in race cars because they are a common point of failure/leakage. You think it's a blowoff valve because Americans seem to have this obsession with their absurd sound.
@AmonBabii It's unmistakably NOT compressor surge....I have seen a million bov's sound just like that....Mine makes the same sound on a professionally tuned setup by Horse Power Freaks....Three year's running strong at 736RWHP.
The sound your car makes is light compressor surge. It's inherent in all large-frame turbo setups because the mass of the impeller assembly is so high, due to its size, thereby carrying more inertia and still compressing a large volume of charge after the throttle closes. You combine it with a much stiffer relief valve that resists opening to make that fluttering effect (simply spring harmonics on the valve). I'm not questioning your ego (736HP?), just your understanding of turbos.
@AmonBabii I don't have a big turbo only 67mm, I have had bigger turbo's that made no such sound....Understanding of turbo's....This isn't my first rodeo. I'm 26 years old and ever since I was 18 I have had a turbo car. I'm on my fifth one now and two turbo supra's are included in that list. I have a very strong understanding of turbo's.
can you tell me if thts bad cause my brother's mk3 was perfectly fine for like 1 week then it started dosing....... if u no whts wrong please reply......
Well supra from my experiences of dosing about 75% of stockish turbos doing it usually shear of exhaust wheels. So little ricer boy driver your civic who dont you learn what your talking about, because anyone with half a brain who knows anything about cars will tell you dosing is bad
@swat3067769 Everyone acts like turbo flutter is so bad, but in my experience, the negative effects of it are just exaggerations. I have been running about 20 psi without blow off valve for over 500 miles on my civic, and my pos $100 ebay turbo still works perfectly.
@mbedsor I have personal experience with dose pipes. Believe me, when people say that it is so bad for your turbo to not have bov, they only say that so they can sound like they know something about cars. I'm not saying that it isn't bad for turbos, but it is not nearly as bad as people say it is.
@mbedsor It's not really a yes or no answer to be honest. It certainly isn't good, but if your not on a high boost it should be ok. It can depend on the size and manufacture of turbo aswell. Some are better than others.
@mbedsor The best thing is if you like this noise, and you have a turbocharged car, buy a recirculated blow-off valve. This creates the same noise but isn't bad for your turbo at all.
