  • is the new york dude's neck broken?

  • nobel price to him ? are u mad !! if he got it, the world goes in peace. if u are not pro jew u will never get nobel.

  • i wish the interviewer would let Finkelstein complete his answers/arguments

  • God Bles Pr. Norman Filnkelstein ! Ge Him the Nobel Humman Right Freedom Price ! Great Man who Can took truth for all price !

  • the broadcaster is funny

  • Here's my analysis:

Invading Iraq and seizing its oil is a capitalist's dream come true (this is something very few people should disagree about). The financial elite (majority of wealthy financiers) love money and incidentally love Israel. The financial elite have a strong influence over U.S. politics. As a result, a war in Iraq is popular to U.S. politicians, to the pro-Zionists, and ultimately, to the financial elite. What it comes down to in the end is money. The rest are details.

  • 9/11 is actually an inside job. This create mistrust in Wall Street. Wall Street and all Banks and Insurance don't trust the administration. They just want to take whatever they can to prepare the time they would have been pick as the scape goat. They will continue to corrupt the economy until the regime of this global policy use up their glue.

  • I thought they were saying that Rumsfeild and Cheney were not neo-cons

  • I know your comment is old, but I think they are seperating Neo Cons that were in the government, with ones that were in lobbies driving the decision of war . Which means if lobbies are powerful enough to make this happen, then that means the government don't run things for the people .

  • Finkelstein is right when he says that because of the huge debacle in the Iraq war, people are ostensibly and randomly drawing stupendous conclusions by saying that the motive for the invasion was oil or protection of Israel. These instigators might not be the actual reasons for the occupation. Instead, and as Dr. Finkelstein puts it, it was primarily meant to demonstrate to the world, especially in the post 9/11 era, that the U.S. is still "in charge" of the world.

  • follow the paper trail, smell the green, its all about the money, i think maybe we should take a closer look at saudi arabia, or are they too rich to face close scrutiny, considering, in a murder investigation, all the suspects family is interviewed. osama bin ladan is a member of the saudi royal family, COME ON!!!! just like rock stars and celebritys, they are getting away with what us normal people would be sent to prison for, follow the paper trail and lets finnish this debate....NUFF SED

  • Bin laden isnt a member of the royal family. He's from the very wealthy Bin Laden family that own the biggest construction company in saudi arabia.

  • First time I've heard Finkelstein sound almost naive. As a matter of fact, they both sound too naive. Or maybe I'm just too suspicious, NOT.

  • its bigger than America and bigger than Israel- I am surprised they don't see that!

  • I agree with him, it was America's war not Israel's.

  • I think Finkelstein is minimizing the U.S. incentive for oil as a primary factor for invading Iraq. As he rightly points out, the invasion was a way to exercise U.S. power in the middle east. But it seems to me that controlling the oil resources would be an obvious means of exercising that power. Finkelstein also thinks that the neocons didn't have any real influence in the invasion, even though Mearsheimer seems to make a pretty compelling case that suggests otherwise.

  • "Finkelstein also thinks that the neocons didn't have any real influence in the invasion, even though Mearsheimer seems to make a pretty compelling case that suggests otherwise." Finkelstein's opening statement says otherwise. He says the chief architects of the war and invasion were Cheney and Rumsfeld, neo-cons.

  • I like Finkelstein a lot, i believe hes a sincere man. Honestly i dont know why he claims there's zero evidence that Israel was one of the biggest factors in invaded and occuping Iraq. Mr. Meisheimer just laid out some the evidence there for Norman, by including statement from a couple high ranking US officals about one of the real motives. I suspect Finkelstein is trying to salvage what left of his image after being fired from Depaul. Just a guess though.

  • Fink is generally an honest man and clear thinker -- but he desperately wants to ignore/not believe that the Iraq war is about Israel.

  • No, I think you're mistaken. He believes wholeheartedly that the war in Iraq is for Israel's interests.

  • No he doesn't. I have sen him speak to this several times -- just listen to this video. He puts the Iraq War on Cheney and Rumsfeld, ignoring the fact that the neocons thought the whole thing up for their vision of what is good for Israel.

  • great programme...so too this particular episode.

  • Scotland Yard is working on indictment for Genocide and crimes against Humanity for Tony Blairs lying part in this scam

The motives for Iraq are clear:

    NO-bid contracts to Cheney's companies

To put a lid on Iraq's Oil production, (which in turn greatly diminished supply; raised the price of oil from $20 barrel to $110 to the glee of Bush's Saudi friends -- And thereby continued the US Dollar - Petro cycle)

  • A substantial part of it is a little more subtle. Iraq is right at the heart of the Arab world, and more generally of the Muslim world. Long before the Iraq War, and even before the first Gulf War, this region was a major leader in opposition to imperialism, colonialism, and America. It's independent. The Empire doesn't like this.

Indie media needs to be paying far more attention to things like the building of military bases in Iraq. The war was about "control" more than it was about theft.
