@Badboykilla96 the focus dial is a pain in the arse, and given the choice I would now get a Panasonic TM750 - but other than that it's great. If you can get it for a good price go for it.
@laazteka I'm sure you've already figured it out by now but turn on, hit the function button then from the "P" at the top move over to the far right of the persons head and press select, then scroll to the sixth item on the right and press select.
if you are doing nothing to improve the quality other than just using 24p, 30p, and 60i, I gotta say that this is the best video cam I have ever seen.. Im gonna buy one..
@RyderStudios thanks for the comment. In a screening of a short film I made people couldn't tell the difference between footage taken with the Canon and a $5000 Sony professional DV cam, so I'm pretty satisfied.
3 years is a long time in digital equipment. Go treat yourself! Sony stuff I've had keeps breaking on me, last thing was a $100 earphones which lasted 4 months, but, like I said the stabilisation on the HDR-XR520V is better than the iVIS..
If you had a problem with Sony AVCHD encoding you might have them again with the Canon....
Well first of all i paid $1,500 for it, I cant edit the videos at all, Its heavy, The hd ant that good, I been using it for 3 years its trash...I hate sony and love canon
Right now, neither. The S11 is good, but the Everio GZ HM400 is topping the polls in Japan beating out the S11, and it's cheaper. If you definitely want to go Canon - then I think it boils down to how much you want to spend...
Well it should be, but i have seen some reviews that say, the image stabilization is not as good as promised.
Same OIS is implimented by Sony( First camcorder ever with 3 way stabilization) in the XR520 and CX520, but they are getting a much better feedback both by user and reviewer. and sony performs best in low light in this class of camcorders.
the things sony lack is 24p and full manual controls over aperture and shutter. ( althought it has 6 blade aperture vs. 2 blade aperture of canon)
And in 16:9, how is this not in 16:9 when u film with a 16:9 camera.. amazing?! Looks like u filmed in a lower bitstream which films in a 14:9 resolution and than made a mistake with encoding.
DOES IT HAVE NIGHT VISION

the legria is the version that's sold in europe....the vixia is the version sold in the us...same camera...no difference
patrat236 2 years ago
@kingleo42042h Vixia is NTSC based, Legria is PAL
123esmann123 2 years ago
@kingleo42042h The Legiria is for the United Kingdom and a PAL version type, while the Vixia is for the USA and cultured around the NTSC format.

Hi, great videos. I have just bought a HF S11 and is quite new to there more advanced camcorders.
You talk about 24p, 30p and 60i, what exactly means this? I can't find any settings on the camcorder nor in the manual mension these settings.

Same here. I can't wait to get my canon hf10. sony is decent but compared to the canon, it is pretty below average.

Transter2001,should I get this camera?
NordicRick 2 years ago
Simple answer - yes. But if you are doing a lot of filming on the move, maybe think about the Sony HDR-XR520V.
Transter2001 2 years ago

so wats the diffrence between the s11 and s10?
Haik000 2 years ago
-S11 has 64GB and S10 has 32GB(both can be extended via SD cards)
-S11 has the new 3 way image stabilization and S10 has the old one.( the new is suppose to work perfectly while walking)
That's all, I believe
mahamza86 2 years ago
Oh ok awesome! Thanks a lot for the info. I think that 3 way image stabilization thing should come really handy!
