  • I saw them live at the Michigan State far on a HOT day. They had these Miami Vice like yellow and baige suits on, and 3 ladies playing violin. And they played their butts off for us, and this was their closing song. And yes they played in front of a full house or grandstand, but the heat got to many of them, and they had to leave. Some lady said, I can't leave until I hear them play my song, GOOD TIMES!

  • I think this is my favorite Chic song.......

  • 72 people have bad times

  • @xxx69roband 75 :)

  • @xxx69roband Or rather, have good taste - sped up soul / disco / rnb is violence!

  • @healhurt okay, but the title is the best...... legend ....listen the bassline....

  • Bons Tempos....

  • Why this tune sounds like "We are family" from Sister Sledge, any story behind that fact ? anyway, that's 2 awesome tunes.,.

  • @F3FisGoodforYou ; This song was written and produced by Chic members Nile Rodgers and Bernard Edwards as was We are Family. They're playing bass and lead guitar on both songs also. Most of Sister Sledge's biggest hits were produced and written by the same two guys, as well as Upside Down by Diana Ross. They are simply awesome! When Bernard died in 1996 a part of me died with him he was the absolute bomb bassist, he had his own style. I wear dark shades to this day! Hope this helps....JW

  • @jwilliams7924 ...Thanks for your interesting explanations... I love to learn more about all those musicians. I'm started to learn bass a few months ago and listening to the bass line of "Good Times" always put a smile on my face... That's what those musicians were all about, bringing happiness !

  • Wonderful song - like all song of this group! There's nothing better then music of the 70ies!

  • I remember this from the bulls games in the 1990's.

  • 70 persons never had a good time..don't know how to have a good time...and will never have a good Times!!!!!!!!...

  • I feel like if I spoke phrases over this instrumental it might sound good...

  • @smorgs27

You might make a few dollars if you carry on doing that. Have you got any idea what you might call this talking over music?

  • @anonUK I think....I think I will call it....Hip Hop.

  • @smorgs27

Is that title taken from one of the songs you're going to come with?

  • come- up -with.

  • Yes indeed they were GOOD TIMES!!!

  • You see that dislike bar?

    Me Neither.

  • yeah i´ve noticed the same, sounds like it´s playing too fast ?

  • sounds like it's playing a little too fast ?

  • @martin84125 Yeah - it is and the pitch is distorted as a result. :(

  • @martin84125 and I think it's up a half step

  • @martin84125 It only sounds fast because you're used to hearing the slowed-down sample on Sugarhill Gang's "Rapper's Delight".

  • @martin84125 you have might heard the slower one but yes, this is original

  • @martin84125 Much much too fast.

  • @adeoduyemi You were not ROLLER SKATING! : )

  • @martin84125 Didn't your Top 40 station do that to get more songs per hour?

We have one that butchers an ELO song with the edit.

  • @steadfastcoward yes! All the radio stations here played the songs at a faster pace. Diana Ross's It's My House sounded way better a little faster. There were many songs in the 1980's that were better off faster....others suffered for it.

  • i listen to this song and i was born in 2011

  • Don't know about y'all but I'm 19 from London and live my life with the funk of 1970's

  • the sound of '79!!

  • Yeah...like rolling in some NY club back when X wuz legit n Cola was endorsed by the gov: Uh huh like that was Good times yeah! Can you say Hello 1920s!

  • the best bass line off the wold.

  • @Johnatanfxc

yeah, Mr Bernard Edwards on the BASS ....

  • really good funky shit

  • I want to feel that vivid orange carpet under me while sitting on one of 20 mushroom shaped benches; fingers working furiously to lace up my skates cause THIS SONG CAME ON WHILE I WAS PAYING TO GET IN!

Soggy pizza, Pink Lady drinks and smiles all around. Wish my only worry now was about having the right kind of comb in my back pocket and wings in my hair.

  • Where's my Rollerskates...for some Funky All out Speeding...with 'Rexing/Sideways' moves throwning down!

  • BEST TIMES!!!

  • NOW I JUST WANT TO ROLLERSKATE IN A RINK DRINKING MALT.

  • Comment removed

  • great jam , but whoever put this on here had the tempo too fast.

  • @MrDeepsea61 yep

  • @44yavet nothing bets the old school

  • @MrDeepsea61 no, it's perfect, original too slow

  • lol brings back so many memories, wish i was there now and know then what i know now!

  • Who remembers this song and still loves it. Because I know I do =)

  • Waaaaaaaaaaaaaay TO FAST!!! destroys "the funk"!

  • @ChillGregD /watch?v=eKl6EZShaaw

  • Good Times starts when it begins to play. ^^

  • good!

  • is it me or is a lot of now days rap and r n b just sampled 70's and 80's disco and pop song o_O

  • @TheHeavymetal80 Well no, because a) Rapper's Delight was released in 1979 and b) sampling has been highly restricted under new copyright laws, meaning the majority of hip-hop/rap over the last 3 or 4 years has been non-sampled, which has been much to the detriment of the genre as the only avenue open now to producers is the same equipment and software - which is why quite a lot of the modern end of the genre is similar in sound.

  • These guys ripped off The Sugarhill Gang.

  • @antdigger its the other way around dude

  • Could never remember who the Sugarhill gang ripped off now i know.

  • @Robcatist Nooo it's the other way around, they sampled the sugarhill gang

  • @ilovegirls1810 Really....go get some education

  • LOVE THE BANGING BASS.

  • i here you felix50h, bringing back memories,happy days

  • For those that are in there 50's do ya remember these days....good times. It's nice to reflect back to the days gone by.......good times!

  • Everytime I hear this song I think of that M&M's commercial!

  • One of the most important songs ever created.

  • It sounds like it's sped up just a little bit. =/

    R.I.P. Bernard Edwards.

  • @HaroldRehling It seems sped-up by about a semitone indeed. That's not even a little, but will keep Google's bots from recognizing it as a copyright infringement.

  • the 80's were the good times all those good groups gave real dance muxic

  • What you hear is not a test,

    I'm rapping to the beat...

  • woo hoo bring on the WHP tonight...!

  • @MsSleevy, I'll be right there with you, only a few hours to go now, the wait is killing me!

  • che scopata che è questo giro di basso.

  • 67 people didnt have good times listening to this song!

  • This is too fast!

  • Comment removed

  • To those who don't know; no it is not the same bassline from Queen's "another one bites the dust; similar but different. This song was first. And yes it is the same bassline used in rapper's delight; this is the song they got it from. In fact, it was quite popular in the clubs to mash up the two songs.

  • Late 70's - 80's brilliant time !!

  • Where's my roller skates and young body?

  • @felix5oh I thought the same... skateboard in fact ... It' s "only" more than 30 years ago!

  • @felix5oh You left them back in the 80s when you came to the 2000s(smile).

  • @felix5oh I have it right here ;)

  • ear-gasmic...love it

  • pirates of the caribbean piano

  • It has been time-stretched, tempo is too fast. I don't like it at this speed. But original recording is great.

  • is this the same bassline and background music as rapper's delight, sounds similar?

  • @samburks001

    or

"another one bites the dust" but different tempo. In saying that this is also sped up.

  • @samburks001 The Sugarhill Gang nicked the lot from Chic!!! Rodgers and Edwards threatened with legal action and were given a settlement and and credits for the tune.

  • @MsSleevy Queen stole the riff too.

  • im disco stew...HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!

  • lovethis songbychicgoodtimes

  • 21th century is definitely a bad time.

  • BEST SONG OF ALL TIMES!!! THANKS FOR POSTING!!

  • The Best of the best Bassist Bernand Edwards 4ever KING OF THE BASS'

  • This baseline comes from Good Times. Sugar Hill gang and every other 70s NYC rapper used it at bloc parties. Niles Rodgers is a genius

  • @spankydaley dont forget bernard edwards

  • wooooo!!!! this baseline comes from the sugerhill gang but i remember this so well, cant believe its now over thirty yrs old!! goes to show that well constructed pop is the always going to be EVERGREEN..

  • wooooo!!!!

  • Wow-This brings back memories........hot hot evenings following dancing at a disco.........the 70's were fantastic for music.. compare disco, Steely Dan, Earth Wind and Fire etc with today's no-talent crap foisted on young folk.

  • hey im 16, and even I have to agree that most music sucks nowadays.....ofcourse coldplay is an exception to that rule and maybe adele (although she's boring as hell:P)

  • How to they get the scream synth thing?

  • Felicidades a quienes pasaron a bailar estas canciones en una disco con esfera de luces
