this is the best album Blake has ever done... yeah that includes dear you.... of course, dear you is still the best album of the 90's... of course, im blwing him up, but to me Blake is seriously GOD, or a minor prophet at least, or just a dude who is awesome as shit....
@somecallmejames i think 24-hr revenge therapy is the best album he's ever done, with this one a close second! but thats me, whatever, Blake is amazing
@BrandonConspiracy You're deluding yourself if you think that the made up term meant anymore when this album came out than it does now. Any real fan of music simply doesn't care what label the fan boys and scenesters placed on a record, they just want to hear good music.
@SamuelHellDay i just still think this is pure indie rock. i think emo came from indie and it was just a bad direction from indie, but JTB is too good to be emo in my opinion, but Jawbreaker has that punky edge to it so i can see that haha and I figured you knew the singers are the same person, you dont come off as "stupid" =)
JTB. Awesome. Fuck the haters/labels they give. Try not being a douche critic and enjoy the beautiful melodies/lyrics that this band contributed to the world.
Brian on guitar used to play in The Van Pelt, another indie-emo act, but a bit different from the other acts, with a bit more emo sound, the vocalist also used to sing in Native Nod, a prominent "old school" emo band, both having that emo moss icon kindof sound, very punk.
So the inspiration of all these things are pretty clear. Conclusion? Post indie-emo rock. Lol. Useless, but informing
perfected music.

Jawbreaker was a bay area punk band with a dark melodic feel to them. Jets to Brazil in kick ass Indie Rock no more no less.

@KohlKorruption The fact that you're classifying bands shows that you just don't get it.

(part 2, read 1 first :b)
Chris from the band played in Texas Is The Reason, typical 90's indie-emo.
They hung around. played shows and shared label with The Promise Ring, another prominent 90's indie-emo band.
Blake Schwarzenbach sang in Jawbreaker which are pretty much known for mixing emo with other forms of punk and indie rock.

Well, all this emo debate made me comment here. (part 1)
All of you can hear indie moments, right? emo moments and punk inspiration right, but what should it be classified as?
nonetheless.
