I was in Kashmir in Feb. 2008, it is a beautiful place, even in the winter. There was great tension between the Kashmiris and the Indian soldiers who were plentiful and regarded as occupiers. Bored and despised young men with automatic weapons is not a calming presence, and I heard many accounts of beatings and sexual assault from the locals. So to seek protection the then ruler Hari Singh approached Delhi, for which India replied it can provide soldiers only if Kashmir is a part of India. I was in Kashmir in Feb. 2008, it is a beautiful place, even in the winter. There was great tension between the Kashmiris and the Indian soldiers who were plentiful and regarded as occupiers. Bored and despised young men with automatic weapons is not a calming presence, and I heard many accounts of beatings and sexual assault from the locals. Everyone is aggrieved and I doubt that there will ever be peace there-

So to seek protection the then ruler Hari Singh approached Delhi, for which India replied it can provide soldiers only if Kashmir is a part of India. I just hope you Kashmiris would take you head out of your asses and actually realize who is protecting Kashmir and who is trying to take over it.
