@KatoFilms Easy yes, pretty no. You can zoom while recording, but only in digital zoom mode. It won't optically zoom. The best practice, which is actually how everyone should be shooting videos as, is to first zoom, and then record at that zooming level.
You people bitch a lot. It looks fantastic compared to other P&S cameras. What more could you expect? The majority of cameras these days don't even offer HD resolution like this. Yes, the camera does refocus it just takes it a while. If people are really that concerned about it then just buy a camcorder.

Autofocusing is poor on this camera!!! What I mean is that when you move away from the original object of focus that camera doesn't try to refocus. There is only 1 P&S camera that does an excellent job and it has HD but I'm not telling what model it is.
On which camera? I'm pretty familiar with the SD1100, and I know next to nothing about the SD1000. But I know the SD12000 is basically an redesigned SD1100 with more megapixels.
BTW, I already bought the SD970... It's coming in the mail in a week or two since it's back-ordered. :)

I used to have SD1000 and now have SD1200 and the video looks just as good. There is no optical zoom in video mode too bad.
