Yeah, Stamets certainly knows his shit and good for him on building his nice, safe family business - well done, big pat on the back. However, Psilocybe Fanaticus is MY myco hero. He laid it all on the line for the part of the community whose interest in Mycology is just a means to an end (acquiring psilocybin to expand our minds with), and whose legacy is the wonderfully simple PF Tek... allowing the laymen amongst us, i.e. those with normal sized brains, to grow shrooms in our closets.
@Treetale - the wisest people are usually very humble too. I think arrogance is a sure sign of ignorance. Just look at all these narcissistic politicians, claiming they can fix the worlds problems with war & consumerism....what a contrast!
Actually, I dont think he studders in the way you think of it. I sound just like this guy, I often talk fast and studder, and acording to a doctor I do this because I'm extremely insterested in what I talk about, and often start on the next sentence before I finish the last xD
Very great watch, and an inspiration to all mycologists.
I agree. Look at the end, he speaks clearly because he is answering the question. When he tells a story he gets very excited and you can actually hear him saying a word, stop, then later in the next sentence you hear that word, so I think your right. I wasn't aware people did this until you brought it up.
@UNIONWARE there is a program called youtube downloader. There are other similar programs. You can find some at cnet [dot] com. Then click on downloads or software or something. :)
Stamets is a typical American in that he speaks only one language, English. English-only speakers should make a conscious effort to speak more slowly and clearly, avoiding slang, if they want to be understood by foreign audiences. So come on you guys, make the effort to speak more clearly, simply and you will be understood by everyone, including those who aren't fluent in English.
@DrZenith Americans speak one language typically because of how isolated they are with only spanish really well know on the west coast because of mexico, second, our education system doesn't even teach any language in public education until high school and two years at that is the minimum if that.
Problem is he didn't say what is the knowledget that mushrooms passed on, but I believe in him! He said he doesn't know anything but he knows more than me!!
@Kumichoo sorry to reply so many months on, but there is a Terence Mckenna video called the rites of spring, where he talks about the knowledge that plants and mushrooms pass on. It's really interesting. It's a few hours long, but Mckenna is easy to listen to.
