Great video! I'm building a bow aimed at shooting from the kayak after watching this! ~ Prairie Winds Archery on Face Book or Etsy. Thanks again! I can't wait till spring!
Oh smoked carp are great eating, Buffalo and Asian Carp are excellent! I brine the carp and buffalo.
There is a technique for de-boning them. There is a row of 'Y' shaped bones along the sides. You cut one fillet from above them, and one below them, giving you two boneless fillets per side. And, of course, you cut out the red strip of meat along the lateral line. There is probably a tutorial on YouTube for this somewhere.
Then you can fry, bake, broil, grill or smoke them. Delicious.
I am a respectful carp fisherman, always catch and release of the fish. I see no problem with what this man is doing, hes getting his meal. It's the ones who take the carp and throw them on the bank who are the disgusting ones. Great video.
@MonsterBullhead what if you slice their gills then throw them on the bank? Less suffering for the fish and a nice meal for the birds? I don't bowfish yet, but carp are invasive where i fish and a real nuisance.
@niignastii Not really, actually. As long as you clean and cook them properly, and be sure to remove the 'mud vein', they taste ok. Just use alot of breading, hehe.
I'd like to try it from a kayak, just so I can get into places my boat can't. I've seen some monster carp in water 6" deep many, many countless times. Good shootin man, keep whackin em.
Nice work sir.... Well done in all aspects, the bowfishing, video shooting, and production. I've thought about it before, but now you've convinced me to try this sport myself. Thank you.
u should use those old school fishing arrows made out of wood, the point like comes off and the line is attached to the arrow only so after you hit it, you gotta get the arrow which is floating cuz its wooden,
Yononindo, this is a very spiritual video. I was out in my kayak, as you say Kajak, yesterday. I paddled into a school of grass carp that were feeding. I wondered if they were edible. I was bass fishing, but I had no luck. I also bowfish. I have a compound, but after seeing you use the recurve, I think I'll buy one. How do you prepare and cook your fish? You did an excellent job of filming. Keep them coming.
That's a beautiful video and some very nice shots from down low on the water. Carp are considered a delicacy in Europe. When first brought to US breeding ponds were protected by armed guards!
I hear thats dangerous to have the string tied to the end of the arrow like that. Some times it can wrap up on the bow string and it whips the arrow around.
Yes, Common carp are awful so I hear and besides that they are bottom feeders so they can be toxic. The ones he was shooting aren't bottom feeders and they taste good so I hear.
Brother, I hope you didn't over limit your Carp fishing....you know how the WHITE MAN makes the rules nowadays and it will always be in his favor.....love the videos and keep em coming.
EXCELLENT production! I tried to get into bowfishing with some odds and ends i had laying around in the garage... 30lb recurve, and a tape-on-reel... i bought the arrow and other fixings,,,, the 30lb bow wasnt near enough to even toss the arrow... Im thinkin about getting a bow within the month though, cant wait!
How can you stand the tape-on-reel!!! It takes me like 15min per shot!
i love bowfishing but i dont eat the fish i shoot. i cant, the rivers and lakes r so polluted u cant eat anyhting frow the water. 1 river i shoot was rated 1 of the top 10 most polluted water systems in the country(jersey)
If you can afford a bow, a KAYAK, the computer, camera and editing software for this video then you damned sure aren't doing this for food. There is nothing wrong with taking sport in bowfishing. But trying to act newage native and not offend anybody is just freakin gay.
Yononindo.. respect! This is truly amazingly good filming, never seen anything like it!! I've been planing a bowfishingtrip with my AF convertible kajak.. and will most sertainly go this summer! How do you train for such shooting?
They're shot clean through the heart. Sudden, swift, brutal, clinical. The mark of a skilled bowman, at one with his craft (sic). Honor greatness when it confronts you. Bow down and be humble. Tell your children you were there, you saw it too.

you can see them. It only takes a few inches of visibility. Even in dark water you can see their shadow or their wake as they swim.
