@YOYOdaMOOSE Actually states that allow CCWs have seen a drop in crime, and colleges that allow CCWs have had no reported gun related accidents, threats, or thefts. CCW holders don't carry because they are scared, they carry because it is their right to defend themselves.

This kid doesn't know a damned thing about 'crime'. It's not about a fistfight, it's about crimes such as murder, rape, etc. Just because his girlfriend was murdered does NOT make him an expert in this field, and it's a crying shame that his opinion carries any clout simply because a tragedy befell him and her family. Although it may be speculating, I would wager everything I've got that fewer people would have died had there been guns allowed on campus.

I love the fact that the college kid ends up making an argument supporting concealed carry, and even a drop in the age requirement.

I'm 20. I'm old enough to have defended my country for 2 years, but I will be helpless to defend myself for one more year.

An 18 year old freshman, however, could go and buy a shotgun and high powered rifle and go on an unstoppable killing spree. Even if I could legally carry a handgun, it would be no match for such weapons in the vast majority of situations.

At IUPUI in Indianapolis, if you're wearing a backpack, you're a target. 2 students were robbed at gunpoint in the past month. It's weird. It's like the criminals had no regard for school policy.

@beautifulataxia2 statistics prove that your assumption is wrong. utah has allowed guns on campus for a combined total of more than 70 semesters. there hasn't been one instance at all where there was an accident or crime that involved a firearm by a licensed individual. your assumption is based on availability heuristics, which in psychology, is a very innacurate way to make a decsion.

An armed society is a polite society. I still think it is amazing how everyone trusts the school cops who have little to no experience. Yet the Combat Vet student can't have the firearm even though he/she has more and better training and experience then the Police that they so blindly trust.
