It makes your ears ring and makes you disoriented the first time no matter how big you are, a 4 year old shooting a gun would put him in such shock that the chance of him being able to point it back at himself and shoot himself is pretty slim. Ofcourse its possible... But everythings possible

I believe that the parents are at complete fault for the death of their daughter and the guilt that their son will feel when he grows up because this could have been avoided if they would have properly secured the firearms.

I agree, a fine would be in order and maybe not to be able to own a gun ever again. The whole family is going to need counseling after this. I'm sure they've learned from this. But a child that age is capable of finding a gun that's very carefully hidden too. It's very unfortunate.

All kids (like people) are different. Some are very cagey and cunning at 5 yrs. old, and some are really innocent. If the child wasn't educated or even knew his family had a gun, he could've easily thought if was his sibling's toy. I don't know. But not only did they lose a 4 yr. old daughter, their other kids are taken away. Who knows when they'll return home where they need to be in their grief.
