This is great! I didn't realize that Jamilah had danced so on long on Solid Gold until you pointed it out. I do recall her popping up during some of the countdown routines. She and Darcel would have similar hairstyles, which would through me off, during the early seasons.

Thank you IB charmed again. Jamilah was one of my favs. She was a hot, sexy dancer. I remember when she started and then disappeared. I was worried that she would not return.

Loved it!!! I would've never known that was Jamilah back in 1983. I first saw her after Janeen & Trish left the show, saw her for 4 - 5 episodes till Chelsea came on.

Actually, I think Jamilah came on after Chelsea and before Lezlie. I remember her in "Always Something There To Remind Me" by Naked Eyes when they did the opening number and I think that was During Marilyn McCoo's solo hosting gig (but I could be wrong).

Thanks for the info on Jamilah. I never knew she was a replacement dancer on the 3rd season. That season sure was wild. Dancers were coming and going all over the place.

Would you happen to have a chronology of that season? Which dancers did they start with, and then who replaced who?

I think (don't quote me) the replacements were Janeen, Lucinda, Chelsea, tall dark haired dancer you can seen in "Don't Fight It" in the Deborah Jenssen Spotlight II, Jamilah, Lezlie, then Janeen (again). All those dancers took over one spot in the line-up. There were others, like Gayle, Eileen, Arlene and Nicole, but they took over for other dancers that left.

Can anyone verify the order or names? Thanks!

Oh gosh! I forgot Trish McFarlan is also in that line-up. I think after Janeen and before Lucinda , but only for a couple of shows. Then Trish comes back as a regular dancer on Solid Gold Hits during Solid Gold's 4th season.

Trish and Janeen looked an awful lot alike. The best way to see them and know whose who is Janeen can be seen in Countdown '82 and in the Solid Gold 84-85/Stephanie Mills uploads and Trish can been seen in the Deborah Jenssen Spotlights in the Solid Gold Hits clips. Or check out my MySpace photo albums and you can see Janeen in 82 group photo and Trish in the SGH TV guide clip. But they were almost exactly alike in height and look.

Which dancer was Lucinda? I've seen her name on a couple places as a SGD but can't place her. I had thought the dancer you identified as the "tall dark haired dancer" in Deborah Jenssen Spotlight II might be her but I guess not. Does she appear in any of your videos?

The reason that I put that clip in is because it is one of only a couple of numbers that shows Jamilah on the set of Solid Gold BEFORE season 5 (when most think was the 1st time they say her) and the new sound stage.

I am sorry if the footage I am using doesn't fit your idea of how it should be done.

Well thanks for clarifying. I do try to use footage in these videos that focuses on the named dancer, but in this case since the footage from Jamilah's 1st run on Solid Gold is limited I used that one because her face can be seen clearly and one can verify that it is her. I hope that makes sense.

Got it! I remember who she was now. I just never knew Trish was her name.

I think Trish and Chelsea were also on a short-lived series called "You Write the Songs" hosted by Ben Vareen which featured some "copy-cat" SG dancers called the YWTS dancers.

I have a couple eps on an old VHS tape. I plan on buying a DVD/VHS combo player so I can transfer them. But it might take me awhile to do that and post them here.
