"you need to have a Farley High IQ" thats a load of bull shit because both of my parents are physicians and they were both labled with learning disabilities with IQ tests and they were not high whatsoever i'm becoming one also and i have been labled with a disability and my IQ isn't high whatsoever i think if has more to do with taking in information and basically studying, and if you are consistent with those things i think you should be fine, not having a high IQ doesn't matter whatsoever lol.
@Superscott641 I agree. IQ is WAY overrated. Don't get me wrong; it's certainly a nice skill to have (scoring high on problem solving tests), but many intelligent people don't score well on these tests. You can't limit intelligence to one type of test and automatically determine yourself to be smarter than somebody or be discouraged if you don't score high. I already dislike this woman, a shame...
@MissSovietBones True that IQ doesn't tell the whole story but in order to be successful in college, you need good test taking skills. Granted, test taking is not the most important thing in becoming a doctor but its how the system works.
And it has been shown that test taking correlates very strongly with IQ score.
Moreover, you need a certain IQ, about 120, to be creative. I will most certainly agree that very high IQ doesn't mean anything but there is a minimum required.
@kotofu Good test taking skills are certainly innately better in some people, but they can be improved with practice and test prep by others. We may not all start from the same point, but we can surely build ourselves for improvement.
Depending on the ?Q tests, the score can be improved in some areas. Of course other areas are much harder to improve, like fluid skills, but they can with work.
@kotofu And I definitely agree with the last paragraph. I've seen people test in the 'retarded' areas and are insanely creative, like savants. Creativity is capable from everyone. I don't believe in minimums to anything. If one has basic logic or at least builds upon their rational skills, they can go far in life.
How much fifferent is the life or a regular MD VS an orthopedic surgeon lets say, ain't there no way around being on call 24/7 how can you have a solcial life?

"tremendously high IQ" ????
i disagree haha
americium14703 3 years ago
Exactly. You do not need a great deal if intelligence; but you do require memorization to a high degree. That just means studying.
