Don't play the race card, because Jesus wasn't white. Just look at where he was born, bethlehem is in modern day Palestine which is part of the Middle East. Now logic says that he would have the same physical characteristics as most people from that region, and it's widely believed that his skin tone was somewhere in between olive and deep bronze. The only reason people see a white jesus is because most artwork depicting him came from the predominately white Europe of the 13th-15th centuries.

Even if atheists are right and science is the way to go, people that are active members in a religion have higher life expectancies that those who don't attend any services. You can look it up, there is a study on this. Something about our brains gives us more natural opiates when we're in pain if we pray to God. It was even featured in a Time magazine issue.

They have higher life expectancy because it gives them hope, when the reality of the situation are bleak. Religion allows people to not bear all the burdens of what they face, it allows them to transfer the stress to something else. My gf is a grad student in psych, so I hear about these studies. Regardless, it doesn't prove god exist, but if he doesn't so what, just believing in his existence is good enough for some. And this is why some would consider it stupidity. Not me though.
