  • Shame, shame, shame! Lucky I drilled it into my mother that certain "professionals" are not to be trusted.

  • I will never raise money for this group! Nice cushy jobs in this organization!

  • my goodness. we must topple down this crazy organisation, before they start calling a genocide. there is a video they made called "I am AUTISM" it is a hateful video, yet 99% of people who are not autistic including my family said there was nothing hateful about that video. i swear in 10 years from now they will be sending us to concentration camps like they did in the 1950's. until the 70's autistics were being sterilised so they couldn't reproduce.

  • @ultradumbass. What I can't understand is why Autism Speaks can't get their shit together concerning their victim stats. Several years ago it was 1 in 250 diagnosed with Autism, 2008; 1 in 166, 2009; 1 in 150, today; 1 in 110. At this rate, three years from now EVERY baby will be born with Autism. Pure shock value and exploitation to increase donations. I think Bernie Madoff is more trustworthy than these people. Who is monitoring these morons?

  • @lizard944 the reason people think more have autism is because all these "disorders" are being branched together. aspergers was not considered part of autism until 1994. just like down syndrome, fetal alcohol syndrome, tourettes and bipolar only recently have been labeled as distantly related. in fact really only 1 in 5-10,000 have aspergers but many who are labelled as aspergers have other things such as PDD-NOS, severe ADHD, and a few other random things.

  • Autism Speaks does NOT speak for my autistic son or my family.

  • Don't forget the money for the big 'benefit' shindigs. That's where they get to dress up in shiny clothes, and see and rub elbows with rock stars, and tell those of us who'd like to actually help by politely asking guests on the public sidewalk outside of the venue "would you like some information about vaccine safety?" that we're going to get arrested if we don't leave. And that we're "spoiling their evening."

  • Plus, despite all this cash, they stopped any grants at the end of 2009 because they said they couldn't afford it! According to Autism Speaks' Twitter page, they spent only $400K on community services, too!

  • And even if the scientists need to be paid a lot, why do they need so many vice presidents with salaries of over $100,000 if they're working for a goddamn charity?

  • On the topic of the research, only about $25,000,000 out of a whole $65,000,000 went to it. Better than the community services, but still a small amount of money in comparison. Plus, this is highly cobtroversial research into a "cure" for autism that most people who are actually autistic happen to be exteremly opposed too, yes even the "low-functioning" ones.

  • Getting the money from grants is just as bad as getting it from donations if that money isn't being spent on the right things. Look at what they spent on the community services program! Less than they spent on travel and office expenses! Money put to good use? I don't think so.

  • Also, its good they get tax exempted. BECAUSE ITS A NONGOVERNMENTAL-FUNDED PROJECT. Peoples tax dollars dont pay for crap in this organization. Thank you for you time.

  • the world are you doing to help the cause? Also, its called an "alliance" that helped to "back up" the funding for Autism Speaks. It's a group of scientists, business leaders, etc. Everyone has to get money, because not everyone is willing to spend their free time on just "a cause." It takes professionals to get the jobs done. Thank youuuu sir. Have a nice day btw

  • especially professionals, do not work for free. A lot of this money are from donations, but MOST of it are from grants from other types of organizations. People do have to be paid for the research during the "projects" to find a "cure." What research facility work for free? St. Jude hospital perhaps? Even they have to advertise and other things to make money to fund the hospital. There's a phrase called "it takes money to make money." If their efforts are all you can critisize, tell me what in

  • Dude, you're so ignorant on the issues of the business world, and youre trying to become an "activist" or something. But look, that website you put in the sidebar is on the Autism Speaks website right? They said "To date, NAAR has committed nearly $30 million to fund more than 270 autism research projects, fellowships, and collaborative programs worldwide — more than any other non-governmental organization." The NAAR were the people who help fun projects. If you haven't noticed, most people,

  • Omg, It's called the business world. Theyre suppose to make that much. It's not like theyre working for an unprofitable organization

  • @rockshizzle But it's a CHARITY. They make their money from people who DONATE IT. They're not a business like Google, they are meant to actually help people.

  • @rockshizzle Also, they happen to be tax exempt. Of they're a business as you claim, why should they be making tax exempt profit from donations that are meant to help people, but instead pay greedy Nazis?

  • @rockshizzle Last but not least, they DO call themselves a non-profit organisation.

  • Thank you for making this. Very enlightening!

  • They wern't saying that at all, if anything they where saying the complete opposite!

As for people not knowing what autism is if it wasen't for Autism Speaks, that's not true, people would know what autism ACTUALLY is, not the negative image and stereotypes that Autism Speaks pushes to everyone.

  • ...Also, why not actually watch this video and see what this organisation you are defending so much spends it's money on? Doesen't look like it's doing much good for anyone who's not working there...

  • @AutieParentsUnited

Actually, there is an autism organization that have been around a lot longer than Autism Speaks: Autism Society of America, which has been around since 1965.

  • @AutieParentsUnited They still don't know what autism is. Thanks to Autism Speaks they know there is a label called autism, but they do not know anything about it and think it is bad... again, thanks to Autism Speaks.
