@thirteenfingers Thanks. This video is relatively old now (6 hours a day every day I work put this video about fifty performance hours ago...) and I changed to a 3 cup routine and kept that portion of the hat line. I slowed down a bit and added a pause after the joke, which allows more people to get it before I finish up. Sadly, I had to eliminate the Abbott turban trick since it was getting expensive to buy cloth and it wasn't getting as strong of an impact as I wanted. Glad you liked the clip!
@TheHalMak I think that's something I'm really looking forwards to when I finally get my act onto the street.
The sheer volume of shows that allows 8 days of work to render a recording "relatively old" and the conditions that push that kind of improvement REALLY appeal. :)
@thirteenfingers Indeed. If you haven't already, I suggest you read Jimmy Talksalot's book and anything you can about Jim Cellini. Also, rather than working on the act in private, you might want to just take it to the street. You can afford to make mistakes on the street (just be sure to learn from them) and still get paid for basically practicing. My current street show is 90% different (and better) material (routines, lines, and actions) than this video shows, and each step was incremental.
@TheHalMak I've been doing a fair bit of homework so far, and with my first few hats I'll be buying some books and videos. I'm particularly looking forwards to getting my hands on Krowd Keeping and Jimmy's book too.
I'll be looking for stuff about Cellini soon. I knew who he was before I even got into magic properly so his reputation as the master of the street show definitely precedes him.
Nice hat line.
I missed the part before "my cup is full" but it still made me chuckle.
(Nice act too - it's not like the hat line was the only good part!)
