You are probably right. On my desktop, I added Chrome, firefox, Opera, and ie6 under wine.
I would really love to run KDE. I miss the Kdevelop suite of applications. KDE 3.5.9 was great. I have tried many times to get a working KDE 4 on my netbook but the system is very fragile and loaded with cruft.
thats so fast. i was not going to buy a netbook untill i saw this.

The interface you're speaking of is called unity, which replaced the UI shown here in netbook editions 10.10 up.

Gnome, even Lubuntu are much more solid systems.
