Yeah it's true but i'm biased towards true artistic subject matter not the glorification of violence drug trafficking or in the case of Eminem attempting to slander artist or R&B singers and name dropping in an irritating voice. You can't name the good things about one side or rap (true subject matter, soulful lyrics) and name all the bad things about another style of rap (drug trafficing and violence). It's not a balanced argument.
I love Eminem because of what he used to spit - ridiculously intriquate lyrics and an undercover of fear. Just because Eminem raps about violence, doesn't mean he glorifies it - he's creating a horror scene like Thriller.
I know that Eminem could have really balanced "the force" if he would have evolved lyrically as well as conceptually! but he didn't his music has "ok" after The Marshall Mathers album , its like Em hasn't grown very much since the early releases. I thought he was gonna be the next to take the "throne" but it seems he lost his fire IMO
The Eminem Show was a great album, but after that he was weak. But that doesn't mean we can't appreciate his earlier work. If you listen to his work properly, you'd know that conceptually his songs are very diverse. Just because there's a lot about his rough upbringing, doesn't mean he's a one-trick-pony.
And I think you should separate hip hop. It's like comparing Mozart to The Beatles, they're completely different styles of work - they're both brilliant at what they do.

Biggie did'nt have enough material to be considered great! I'm sorry the guy only had 2 legitimate albums thats why he doesn't make my top10 along with Big L and Big Pun! What I can say is that both those dudes created excellent music while they were here but. there just wasn't enough to place them in the Top 10.
What do you want from the man? He died after his second album was recorded! It shouldn't be about quantity, but quality. If all of Biggie's albums were great, that's good enough for me. Big L and Big Pun just weren't as good as Biggie.
Well as much as I love Kweli (and I do, he's got to be my favourite rapper) he hasn't ever made a jam-packed album. He makes about 5 great songs per album, and the rest are mundane. Train of Thought and Blackstar were his main two, after that he fell off somewhat.
I know, and I love his great stuff. He's my favourite rapper. But you can't exclude Biggie just because he didn't make enough material, because all of Biggie's albums were packed with superb material.

Damon stayed with the street? Nah, Damon's attitude was that he wanted to share the wealth as a team. Jay aint want that. He wanted the money for himself. Rocafella was doing very well and had investments in so many other places aside from music. Jay could've shared the wealth and still been rich. Yeah it's true but i'm biased towards true artistic subject matter not the glorification of violence drug trafficking or in the case of Eminem attempting to slander artist or R&B singers and name dropping in an irritating voice. Don't get me wrong Big/Pac/Em are all great artist but its all about delivery and subject matter IMO

You can't name the good things about one side or rap (true subject matter, soulful lyrics) and name all the bad things about another style of rap (drug trafficing and violence). It's not a balanced argument.
I love Eminem because of what he used to spit - ridiculously intriquate lyrics and an undercover of fear. Just because Eminem raps about violence, doesn't mean he glorifies it - he's creating a horror scene like Thriller.

I know that Eminem could have really balanced "the force" if he would have evolved lyrically as well as conceptually! but he didn't his music has "ok" after The Marshall Mathers album , its like Em hasn't grown very much since the early releases. The Eminem Show was a great album, but after that he was weak. But that doesn't mean we can't appreciate his earlier work. If you listen to his work properly, you'd know that conceptually his songs are very diverse. Just because there's a lot about his rough upbringing, doesn't mean he's a one-trick-pony.
And I think you should separate hip hop. It's like comparing Mozart to The Beatles, they're completely different styles of work - they're both brilliant at what they do.

In order for him to stay on pace with evolving wordsmiths like Lupe Fiasco or Jay Electronica etc. I think he needed to refresh the style. On the other hand the track 3am off the new album is the shit but that's one of the few bright spots (even with the super violence it was all around a great thought out track

Yes he failed to improve, but look at his older stuff. Everything from Infinate to The Eminem Show is superb.
You went for lyrical content rappers, whereas people like Jay Z rely more on flow. Those are the two components to a fantastic rapper/MC, whatever you want to call it. That's why Biggie Smalls was so amazing, he was the king of both.

Biggie did'nt have enough material to be considered great! I'm sorry the guy only had 2 legitimate albums thats why he doesn't make my top10 along with Big L and Big Pun! What I can say is that both those dudes created excellent music while they were here but. there just wasn't enough to place them in the Top 10.

What do you want from the man? He died after his second album was recorded! It shouldn't be about quantity, but quality. If all of Biggie's albums were great, that's good enough for me. Big L and Big Pun just weren't as good as Biggie.

Well as much as I love Kweli (and I do, he's got to be my favourite rapper) he hasn't ever made a jam-packed album. He makes about 5 great songs per album, and the rest are mundane. Train of Thought and Blackstar were his main two, after that he fell off somewhat.
