  • "Our conceding powers". Who signed most of the treaties that conceded those powers? Eh? Mags?

  • John Major was better than Thatcher. Unlike her, he wasn't a anti-Europe anti-working class far righter. Major was a decent man, I would have more respect for the Tories if they voted more people like him in.

  • When thatcher was asked what was the greatest achievement of her time and the answer was 'The New labour'. He is the only politician I know who completely changed policies of the opposition by 180 degree

  • @getmadgetmad1 There was still no referendum. You liking the Treaty has nothing to do with it.

  • Divide and rule - it always has been the core of the British foreign policy. Now Euro is under the most difficult challenge since its inception. The lower the Euro gets, the happier the British. In relative terms, the problem of the US secretly or publicly printing unlimited amounts of dollar and the fact that Britain has nothing to sell as mot astute hedge fund managers know are now both forgotten because of the Euro crisis.

  • GOD she's a backbench driver.

  • the Tories signed the Maastrict Treaty without a referendum!

  • If you ask Thatcherite Tories what they think of John Major, you will get the same answer...

    ''COMPLETE BASTARD!''

Don't tar us all with the same brush

  • No referendum on anything between 79 and 97 and there were far more controversial policies passed in thatchers reign than during majors!

  • Between 1979-1990, there was no major constitutional change. Like I said before, if you ask Thatcherites what they think of Major they will reply ''Complete Bastard.'' The Tories were split because of Europe because Major refused a referendum. And Mrs T always regretted signing the SEA, and she later revealed this with the Rome speech, ''No, No, No.''

  • Her words seem prophetic considering the Lisbon Treaty and the continuing power grab of the EU.

  • I think Thatcher is better PM than Major, Blair or Brown.

  • Amen to that. Better combined x 10!

  • i have a big heart for maggie she was like having a third nan but she made some bad mistakes calling us lefties and scum people lost there homes and jobs as a direct result of her polices wasnt lefties at all they was all tory voters standing up for them selves but yeah she did alot for the unskilled market as well as the skilled how many kids can leave school now and jump straight into a job? get a house? non as my generation has to support them and how long can that last :S

  • Worst PM ever?

Considering what Wilson, Heath, Callaghan, Blair & Brown have done?

    Are you mad?

  • Don't forget Major. Negative Equity, Black Wednesday etc.

  • Don't forget how strong the economy was when he left office.

Oh look what 11 years can do......

  • Well these things are cyclical and there is a lot of luck involved.

For example would you therefore argue, using such logic, that Margaret Thatcher was a failure because when she left office in November 1990, the economy was in dire straits. Inflation was approaching the level it was when she arrived in office in 1979. Interest rates were at 15%, unemployment was rocketing, negative equity was beginning to be a problem, economic growth was negative...

  • Alternatively would you credit Gordon Brown and Tony Blair with good economic management around 1999/2000 with high employment, low debt, low inflation, sustained economic growth etc? Because those things happened on his watch too.

Don't get me wrong I detest Labour and the Socialists as much as a I despise the Tories, LibDems, UKIP, BNP and the others, but there is much luck involved in how the economy does. But, it was on John Major's watch that Britain suffered the first run on its currency.

  • the music is better than the person the video is about.

  • long live Maggie

  • what's the score?, it's pretty good

  • Nice Italian music to open up there.

  • Do you know what that piece of Italian music is called?

  • you idiot. This is not Italian and doestn even sound Italian. It is from the Carmen suite by Bizet which is spannish

  • Don't call me an idiot, thats rude. If I thought it was Italian it's cause it sounded like a piece of Italian music i remember but can't remember what it's called.

  • I used my bros username btw incase you are confused.

  • ....beautiful piece of music -see if you can find the CD of Carmen by Bizet - the whole thing - it's wonderful.....

  • spannish? p.s. - what does Italian 'sound' like? - describe Italian sounding music ...

.... is this how people talk to each other here? - calm down, be polite and INCLUDE each other in what you have discovered - music - experiences - ...... Huh?!

  • This is indeed from « Carmen », but Bizet was French. The action is set in Spain though.
