You know, I just realized that our license plates here in Maryland have a blue heron on them (the plates you pay extra to donate to the Bay). I think that's the bird we saw sitting on a neighbour's roof not long ago. Great big thing just flew right by our window and perched on a roof. They sit on this one house on a certain road around here, too.
