  • you have a fucked up profile

  • 1:26 - 1:33 Bro love moment.

  • there is a god there lost when someone does something bad god brings them down later in or right then so richard dawkins is lost

  • @DragonDave555 Wheres the proof?

  • @DragonDave555 I'm lost. Where's your punctuation, man? You don't make sense and I have a feeling that if I could understand your point I would still think you're stupid.

  • My atheism can be described as a 6.9^10 xD lol jk it's just 6.9

  • :}<3 atheism

  • I don't like this "we don't have proof" I more of a it's ridiculous and only someone scared and desperate or who has been brain washed their whole life would turn to literalistic religious philosophies. They don't think every book they read is a 100% true so why their chosen sect. We don't ask for proof of narnia we just disregard it

  • TheAnesthetics So you don't have an issue with the ideology of religion or its concepts itself? its just the habits and actions of the people who follow it that is relevant? straw-man argument my friend. Believing that Empiricism in itself disproves spirituality is a faith in itself. ''Prove'' me wrong with a logical argument this time...please...i'm bored :)

  • Dawkin's self admittedly is creating a religion in itself. To believe wholeheartedly in nothing is just as much a faith as believing in something

  • @MrKapfreebird

That's not really true. We don't go to "Nothing" church, we don't ask for "Nothing" donations. We don't go door to door trying to make people believe "Nothing". We don't wage wars against people who don't believe "Nothing". So, nothing about your argument is true.

Not believing in something doesn't require faith. We don't believe in God because we need proof. If you had an ounce of intelligence, that's quite the opposite of faith.

  • @TheAnesthetics perhaps it is not identical to Christianity in its habits but it has a name and is fairly dogmatic. Perhaps atheism is not becoming a religion as such but an institution.

  • @MrKapfreebird You're an idiot. Go read a book.

  • @Darius135gease Oh sorry, you've read one book on Theology and are now an enlightened, highly educated free thinker? Simply agreeing with the zeitgeist is as ignorant as fanatical creationism ignoring empirical facts. Go read some more books...

  • @MrKapfreebird Oh I'm sorry, you said atheism is a religion. And on that basis, you are an idiot.

  • @Darius135gease well you just proved my point about dogma...

  • @MrKapfreebird Alright buddy.

  • by definition religion and spirituality are not provable or inprovable

  • the reasons we cannot find scientific evidence for RELIGIOUS or SPIRITUAL CONCEPTS/IDEALS is because they are...CONCEPTS/IDEALS!!!

  • 1.5 million in sales does not mean shit when there are 7 billion people. Let me know when the book hits 800 million.

  • Some good qustions

  • RICHARD DAWKINS IS MY GOD !

  • They are practically flirting with each other at 1:15.

  • Comment removed

  • lol i love richard but man he blinks alot! lol

  • Christopher Hitchens? Rest in peace, you magnificent bastard. WOOO! BRING ON THE NEXT WAVE OF ATHEIST FREEDOM FIGHTERS!

  • 2 great guys having a great conversation.

I'm from Britain and have recently seen O'Reilly and Maher and listened to them on there shows and I've got to say O'reilly is a total dick...

  • Bill Maher, one of the finest examples of great Americans. Come back great Americans! We miss you!

  • He's not bright because he believes in something? You can be a Wiccan and be the smartest person on the Earth. You can DEEP DOWN believe that Pokemon exist somewhere and be the smartest person on the Earth. Just because a guy believe in some/all aspects of Christianity does not reflect his intelligence. All the -amazing- people of the Renaissance would like a word with you Mr. Dawkins.

  • T__T we can MAKE pink horses....

  • I bought his book at an airport! :D

  • If Atheism erased religion, over thousands of years, and only very few people still believed in God, I'm sure the world would long for something imaginative and fictional to believe in again; that is, the world will "grow up", and then everyone will realize nothing has really changed for them, and that they can be young at heart and mind and still survive through life just fine.

  • Bill Maher is a fcking retarded idiot

  • @jijweethetookniet

I’m sure he is smart enough to know it is spelt ‘fucking’

  • @samheuring

Lets bash someone for missing 1 letter in his sentence

You are truely a FCKING JOKE, see I did it again!

  • @jijweethetookniet lol it’s spelt truly.

  • @samheuring

Sorry for making mistakes in a language thats not mine

    what a loser you are

  • @jijweethetookniet Eh bien, je suis français, vous êtes juste ignorants

  • @samheuring serieusement, faites un effort

  • @samheuring Like he knew that you were French.

  • Oh wow, this interview is so damn biased.

Completely entertaining though and it sure beats listening to Bill O'Reilly yelling at people. I liked it.

  • @Mentocthemindtaker Should they have pretended that there is something rational about believing in a magic man in the clouds? Would that have been unbiased?

  • @lumpheadthump What? Lol, no.

I was mostly just commenting that usually talk shows just interview guests about whatever they're promoting. If they do present a point of view on a particular issue they usually present both sides of the argument.

Like I said , I really enjoyed this, it's good to see rational thought being discussed so well on television. I just thought it was unusual.

  • @Mentocthemindtaker Oh, gotcha.

  • science can answer unto science what science requires ... but there is a whole load of stuff that is from a different reality ... for example: wikipedia - jalus/rainbow body ... like i say, a different reality...

  • Darwin wasn't a creationist but I do believe that he did believe in a higher power so I don't know what he meant when he said that Darwin had a deathbed conversion

  • Two of the smartest men on this planet today

  • @motorheadbanger90 Don't forget Hitchens

  • Thank God for Richard Dawkins!......errr I mean, ....... il get my coat

  • Dawkins is a 6.9.. neheheh what a pro.

  • This is why I love this guy. He doesn't believe there is a God, but he scientifically leaves the option open.

  • @Jscuzza That is the only logical conclusion

  • @Jscuzza any rational skeptic must. There is no proof that one doesn't exist because it's essentially unprovable either way. The ones we know of are all man made but we can't prove that there is no intelligent designing force. It's just ridiculously unlikely and if true the designer is a tyrant.

  • @Jscuzza It's not really a reason to love him, it would be stupid to say there is absolutely no god. Its just stupid to say it.

  • Prof Dawkins' straight talking is brilliant and makes so much sense - unlike bigoted, ignorant morons such as bill o' reilly.

  • Dawkins is aweosme

  • I can't wait till the 23rd century when people will be living in digital worlds and will have access to old archived websites such as you tube. then They can look back on these videos and maybe read our comments. Cause its likely someone will see this comment if its archived and kept for 100s upon 1000s upon 10s of 1000s of years so it feels good to be part of some of the first atheists relatively.

They'll look back at this, the way we look back on the people who thought the earth was flat.

  • @deanmullen10 great comment ;)

  • @deanmullen10 you watch too much tv

  • @deanmullen10 the earth is flat...didn't you know that?

  • @zachariahm10 haha of course! :P lol

  • @deanmullen10 I greatly appreciate your comment.

  • @deanmullen10 Awesome, maybe this comment has been archived. Hey, future human, still play the game in the future? THE GAME. Hi from 2011, if it's possible clone me, I was awesome, trust me.

  • @deanmullen10 That's one of the best comments I've ever seen on Youtube

  • @deanmullen10 I never really thought of it that way. We really are, relatively, the pioneers. A world without religion? Perhaps it will never happen, but the statistics say it's on the way.

  • @deanmullen10 hey, pretty cool thought man, really liked it

  • @deanmullen10 "first atheists" ?? lets see, humans have been around for 300,000 years.....pretty sure there have been atheists before there was any "god".

  • @theabcsofstds first large group of atheists, because before the modern world there wasn't many atheists, maybe 1 in a few 1000 and atheism has a stronger meaning than the time when they simply didn't believe in god because they never gave thought to the idea of god or where everything came from, I meant in that way, I didn't mean it literally.

  • @deanmullen10 as the number of likes increase on your comments. So does my hope for a better future :)

  • never knew how many patient, rational and confident speakers are so activly involved in atheism. they are truly a breath of fresh air.

  • Thank you both for at least trying.

  • 6.9?..either you dont believe or you do. atheist's are confused

  • @zachariahm10 the plural of "atheist" is "atheists" without the apostrophe. I believe you are confused on English grammar.

  • @cerpintaxt28 we'll tha'nk y'ou k'ind s'ir for correc'ting my gram'mer. yo'u a're re'ally sm'art. correct that sentence too if you please.

  • @zachariahm10 I like the butts of chickens. There, corrected.

  • @SeipherRed very nice

  • A real scientific argument would not rely on smug self-assurance, and the balance of cheers-to-jeers in the crowd at a talk show. Fact is nobody KNOWS for sure what is "behind it all," but to me it seems the height of stupidity to see all the matter, energy, and life in the Universe, and stubbornly cling to an unsupported dogma that this is all there is, and it all came from nothing, for no reason. Even if you don't want to believe in the Christian God per se. Look up "Hubble Ultra-Deep-Field."

  • @DominicMetal1979 Rarely do people make fun of deists. The people who get made fun of are the people who believe things in spite of evidence to the contrary, like people who believe that everything the Bible says is true, or the Bible is the best book ever. Those people are believing things that are proven to be untrue, and they deserve to be ridiculed.

If you just think there may be some sort of intelligence "behind it all", I doubt you'll ever find anyone to mock you for that.

  • @ninjajesus81 OK, fair enough. I do have reasons I believe that the intelligence behind it all is the Christian/Jewish God, but mostly my point is just that people should not be smug, and IMO there is no place for ridiculing or mocking anyone. The mere act of mocking is a bad character trait, regardless of the target. People should be caring and good-natured.

I don't think you can show me anything in the Bible that has been proven to be untrue. Genesis 1, possibly is not to be taken literally?

  • @DominicMetal1979 Leviticus 11:20-23 Talks about various insects and says they have 4 legs. We know all insects have 6 legs.

  • @DominicMetal1979 There are other facts which have been reported as mistaken historically too. Misinformation was common in those days much more than in the renaissance. Anyway Bill O'Reilly was completely hostile to anyone who did not think as him. Did you watch his interview with Richard Dawkins? He does not do that with Dawkins only but also with many other people. Bill Maher was instead friendly ground for Dawkins that's why he was able to explain better.

  • @Blasthood Yeah well search for "Dawkins DESTROYED in 60 seconds"

  • @DominicMetal1979 It shows absolutely nothing, just your sheer stupidity in assuming things that do not exist. Please refrain from misleading other people to the wrong conclusions.

  • @DominicMetal1979 So the Hubble Ultra-Deep-Field showed some very ancient galaxies. And that is reason to assume that the universe is *not* all there is how?

  • jayzuz is the ownly gawd.

  • foolish people.

can you speak using your own created voice??????????????? can you breath using an air created by your science containing your own molecules and atoms????? FOOOOOOLIIIISH

  • @magski1 what?

  • @magski1 No, seriously, what?

  • @magski1 No, we cannot.

However, we were evolved into a world where these things were plentiful, and because of this, (some) living things adapted to breathing air and using our voices in a way which can be called "speech".

Either way, though, the fact that these things were here for us to evolve into using does not mean, by default, that there is a God who created it; so your point is entirely irrelevant.

  • @lightandbeautiful Truth is is a human construction and is completely memetic. There is no real truth to anything, just interpretation. So automatically I know your channel is a load of bollocks and your message is bigotted nonsense. Anyone claiming to have the truth about anything is wrong.

Of course homosexual and heterosexual relationships are different, you foolish person. Men and women relate differently to each other than men do to men and women to women.

  • Dawkins is a legend!!!

  • God bless richard dawkins and bill maher, may they live forever in eternal paradise

  • wow so nice to see sane people in the audience

  • everyone whom follow this rap is of the DEVIL

  • @bloodcleatttt Please retype your comment when you understand the correct use of 'whom'. Until then no-one will take you seriously.

Also, your capitalisation of the word devil does not strike fear into the hearts of men and make your misuse of the word whom any less obvious.

  • I like Richard Dawkins somewhat and Bill Maher too BUT just because their is no scientific "evidence" of the existence of god doesn't really mean there is any less than a 50-50 % chance of there being a god !

  • @Claronium780 Or a 50-50 % chance of there being a Flying Spaghetti Monster. Who knows, man? Who knows...

  • @LittleBabyWheeler but to be fair a flying spaghetti monster is a very spcecific thing, saying there's a god in general - some supreme being is much different

  • @Claronium780 Probability is a measure of *possible* outcomes. Not of imaginable outcomes.

  • @TomFynn but isn't virtually anthing possible?

  • @Claronium780 Well, jump off a high cliff. How high is the probability that you will not end up fish food? See?

  • @Claronium780 You can say the same thing about god being a platypus who enjoys playing table tennis with sea otters that our geologists.

  • @eddyg545 no you can't - the possiblity of there being a god is much more high than saying something specific like "god is a platapus", etc...

What you said is like saying there's a chance there's a building in say Seattle that is in between a certain height and then saying there's EQUALLY as valid a chance that there's a building of a certain height that was built in some random year and has a random number of people (you randomly pick) living in it

    There's a difference

  • @Claronium780 Number of things assumed

    1. There is a god

    2. he has the ability to create a universe

    3. Ability to create earth

    4. Ability to create every living thing on earth

    5. Ability to embody himself within a human

    6. Ability to listen to our thoughts

    7. Ability to be at every single point in space at once

and I could go on but those are the common traits of the western god. Am I being far fetched when I want a platypus god? How is a human god any more probable than a platypus god?

  • @Claronium780 Number of things assumed

    1. There is a god

    2. he has the ability to create a universe

    3. Ability to create earth

    4. Ability to create every living thing on earth

    5. Ability to embody himself within a human

    6. Ability to listen to our thoughts

    7. Ability to be at every single point in space at once

and I could go on but those are the common traits of the western god. Am I being far fetched when I want a platypus god? How is a human god any more probable than a platypus god?

  • @eddyg545 Ok, you're totally right when it comes to ORGANIZED RELGION , but just believing that's there's likely a greater being is completely different - that does not go nearly as far as organized relgions

  • @Claronium780 When is religion not organized?

  • thank god (sorry im a new atheist and now i dont no what to say) people like richard are alive

  • i want to ask him one question.... how does he cope with answering the same shit for years upon years?

  • @necessaryevil101 He'd probably tell you there's nothing more worth vehemently fighting for than real Truth.

  • @Trickycandyfloss I couldn't agree more. Its so reassuring

  • Yay! No more Bill O'Reilly - my brain hurts after listening to Bill talk.

  • A tape recorder ... in the future? Good luck on that.

  • Do the audience really find Dawkins that funny? It makes it hard to watch.

  • "Hopefully it'll be by the bed in every hotel in America." - Damn straight!

  • @EdgePitSwing the bible will always be there. that will never change. And thank god that it is there.

  • @zachariahm10 Nice troll.

  • @EdgePitSwing thanks bro:)

  • @zachariahm10 Yes thank the nonsensical god for his book of nonsense that "He" had written by people.

  • Dawkins is freakin' great!

  • Richard Dawkins and Pat Condell are the most rational clear thinking men of our time!

  • It looks like Bill finally found true love, because he seems to be obcessed with Dawkins. Now if they will just come out of the closet they can be happy for the rest of their lives.

  • Also, Bill Maher is pretty deluded about christians i.m.o. Not about christianity that much, but about christians. To say they're all the same in their beliefs is pretty ridiculous.

  • At the last remark, I thought of the irony and extreme hypocrisy of people who steal hotel bibles. That's just hilarious.

  • i pray to the sun everyday, to stop christians insulting atheist and being racists bigots

  • charles darwin was tutord by satan hmiself AND THE GREATEST TRICK THAT THE DEVIL HAS EVER PLAYED IS TELLING EVERYONE HE DOSENT EXSIST

  • @lilbadman96 So then what about all the atheists, or anyone who doesn't believe in God? Is that God's greatest trick as well as Satan's? Because niether Satan nor God actually said anything directly to any person as far as I know. And I have not ever met God nor Satan personally so I have no proof to believe that they do exist.

  • @lilbadman96 Did Satan also teach you how to spell? Because that's pretty shitty as well :/

  • @lilbadman96 You are the type of Christian that Maher & Dawkins loves to mock.

  • @lilbadman96 Shut up dimwit...

  • @lilbadman96 r u trolling or just fucking insane?

  • @lilbadman96 The greatestb trick the Church ever played was making everyone think that the Christian deity was a 'caring', 'loving' God!

  • 5:05 - 5:33 --> Dr. Dawkins hit the nail on the head. That's my situation (and I'm betting it's the situation for at least a billion more).

I'm not looking for thumbs up, but a simple comment would serve as a shout-out to the Agnostics in this category! :D

  • Craig ventor was the one who finish the human genome

  • I`ve just finished reading his book. He did a fantastic job in exposing all the bigotry of religions, blind faith and belief in supernatural.

That`s how people should expose their opinions.

    Terrific book and great author.

  • @ThreeLions89 yeah it's great! have you read the greatest show on earth yet?

  • @aPpLeJuIcE37RainLucy Not yet. I`m now reading "the selfish gene" and I hope I`ll have time to read "The greatest show on earth" during the winter vacations since I`m a student.

  • @aPpLeJuIcE37RainLucy ANd you? Have you read "the greatest show on earth"? If so please tell me if it is as good as "the god delusioN" :D

  • @ThreeLions89 yes definitely! right now i am part way through The Blind Watchmaker and i'm enjoying it quite a bit. i personally liked The Greatest Show on Earth better than the God Delusion. both great books but i love reading more about science stuff.

once you're done reading Dawkins, i highly suggest Carl Sagans Cosmos!! also a fantastic book!

  • @aPpLeJuIcE37RainLucy Thank you for your feedback and your suggestion. I`ll do so ;)

  • Richard dawkins. Now there`s a man who know`s his shit.

  • I've learned more from Richard Hawkins that my philosophy and ethics lesson.

  • @bloodyvamp77 its goes vice versa thats what iam trying to say

  • I am afraid Bill was being less than honest. Dr. Collins does not believe in Creationism or Intelligent Design.

  • Careful - Nixon had a tape recorder switched on and witnesses.

  • Wish I had a vagina so I could bear Dawkins' children

  • @TAz69x ahahahahha, my god!!!

  • well when Richard Hawkins said people are fed up by religious nuts putting their beliefs down peoples throat i seen atheists do it all the time

  • @TimurTheConqueror LOL, yes, because with critical thinking atheists have "beliefs"...

    ಠ_ಠ

  • @TimurTheConqueror "Richard Hawkins" Who? :P Ohhh... do you mean Dawkins?

"nuts putting their beliefs down peoples throat i seen atheists do it all the time" There's good reasons for that, good factual reasons. For instance: Religious people oppose science to one degree or another, in the vast majority, by assuming "God did X" or "God did Y". It holds back the whole human race, if there's still people saying "I won't think about the origin of life, because God dunnit!". We need real answers.

  • My father was a Jehovah's Witness before he read Dawkins' book (he was brought up in a religious family) and he's now sworn that he's gonna help fight so that children will not have to suffer what he did.

  • I once said to my deeply Christian friend, "The Bible is kind of like the Harry Potter books really" to which he replied, "No, you can't make the Bible up, it's too difficult". What? It's difficult to make up a story about a talking snake? And the building of an ark that can carry 2 of EVERY species on Earth!?!

  • On my death bed i will say something like......"I wish i'd had more sex and learned to play the guitar properly". It's easier to get their knickers off if you can play something "romantic"

  • Faith is the bridge between not understanding something and understanding it, its entirely natural- religion feeds on this and manipulates it, it is a very dangerous thing

  • Would it be illogical to want Richard Dawkins as my children's godfather?? LMAO

  • There isn't a correlation between intelligence and faith. Faith is spiritual and has to be experienced, not taught. There is no way to prove that a God exists but there is no way to disprove it. The Bible isn't mean to be taken literally, it uses stories to convey a message.
