    Great stuff !

  • This song goes hard.

  • Like if your listening in 2012! :DDD

  • One of my favorite singers! I remember dancing to this at school dances and doing the twist, and that was in 1967! He was still a hit years after he first came out with this song!

  • this might be one of the best songs ever

  • first time i v ever heard this song when its not a sound bite i love it

  • 0:43 does he say "come on little bitch" xD

  • @android059 i always thought so! HAHA

  • @android059 It sure sounds like it! But it cant be, lyrics like those in that period were unthinkable.

  • @android059 it says come on little miss.

  • @iWriteUinMyDeathNote and when you're old, teenage assholes will laugh about you, except your generation won't have a single song to contribute to history ... unless you think lady gaga is a good definition of your generation. oh wait, retards like you don't survive very long and people don't remember shitty generations of music. silly me...

  • lang lang ist her aber immer wieder schön

  • this was the absolute hit by my dance school about 1961, I remember with joy

  • @ThatDeadGuy01 I thought he said that too...

  • I saw a live band the other night playing oldies, including "the Twist". You can hear this song a thousand times, but when you hear it live, with a thumping bass and screaming sax, it suddenly becomes very sexy and fun at the same time. Note to my black brothers: You dont need to grab your crotch to be sexy. Really. It actually looks stupid. Learn how to twist instead.

  • I wish WE COULD TWIST IN THE CLUBS AND DİSCOS NOW :((

  • @mwhite7777 totaly agree

  • im 10 yers old and 19 50s and erly 1960s tuns rock

  • I was eleven years young in 1960, and I remember all the kids and adults twisting to this song! The Twist was more popular than God himself/herself!! More people danced the Twist than went to church on Sunday!!

  • if i get 10 likes ill put this song on and do the twist at school

  • Oh yeah!

  • thumbs up if you are eating twizzlers while listening this!

  • @TokiKatChannel no, but a twizzler sounds pretty good right now :P

  • @craftycat98 lol

  • Good TWIST song

  • The late fifties were not so idyllic as people say but there has to be admiration for the pride people took in themselves such as dress and mannerisms. I had a talk with a guy who was into music history and philosophy and as Nietzsche said, if you tear something down, there has to be something built in its place. The eighties are an example as punk and rock destroyed social values without creating anything, thus the iconoclasm of relativism in modern society.

  • 6 people twisted their leg doing the twist

  • This IS NOT Chubby..THIS is Hank Ballard!!!

  • @Rodrigoteacher No. Despite the fact that Ballard recorded the song and was released one year before (1959), this is indeed Checker.

  • You can compare the sound of this video with that of other videos here in YouTube.

  • @georgemusicvideos .....so...I think the Ballard version is no more on youtube...THANKS A LOT!!

  • @Rodrigoteacher you're right. ballard recorded this song a year before but white stations wouldn't play it because hank was too risque. dick clark had ernest evans (chubby checker) record it and it became the big hit.

  • There is a that video shows Checkers performing at a TV show. It seems he is just lip-synchronizing but, even so, it is obvious that this "sound" belongs to him and not to Ballard.

  • @georgemusicvideos there was a ballad version??? WTF!

  • @georgemusicvideos all songs performed on bandstand were lip synced. didn't have the room for a band. they made no secret of it. they would sometimes compliment the singer on how well he lipsynced

  • @Rodrigoteacher You are absolutely right!!!

  • Who wants to do the twist with me? Hell YEAH the twist ROCKS!

  • back when black culture actually contributed to society

  • i saw it on spiderman when i was on the computer, so i just typed it in. :D

  • 6 people hurt themselves doing the twist

  • 6 people hurt themselves doing the twist

  • LOVE IT!! AND PEOPLE IT IS NOT OLD AND IT WAS NEVER OLD!!!

  • Never gets old :)

  • for everyone who sais it is too old>

  • I could sleep through any song but if u play twist no lies I will start slowly twisting my shoulders work my way up and twist the right way lol :)im 8 years old and I love oldies

  • Twist on Chubby to the R&R HALL it's time to put him in the hall.Twist On

  • I remember well this song. My girl friend and I won a National Twist dancing contest in Buenos Aires at the Luna Park in1962. We both against 69 couples. We danced seven times up to the end. I´m 68 now and I keep dancing on saturdays. Unfortunately no twist but rock´n roll wich I like too. Good memories from Argentina.

  • at 0:44 did he say come on little bitch, and do the twist?

  • classic is the best

  • @ersotz you are right the only song was no.1 in 1960 it went down then it came to the number 1 spot again in 1962

  • One of his best songs ever. At that time, stylistically and is still great to hear. Thank you for uploading from Germany.

  • If I tried The Twist now at middle age I would end up at a local hospital in traction!

  • I don't give a hang if a song is old or not, if it rocks, then play that song loud!

  • @blueberries4ever that's right !!

  • @blueberries4ever Sho' u rite!

  • Would be perfect for a new FALLOUT game :D

  • #1 Billboard, 50 years ago this week.

  • @dayg715 Was also #1 when Billboard did a countdown of the 100 biggest hits from 1958 - 2010. Congrats to Chubby and his fans.

  • @eaglesyz Really? Always thought it was John Lennon's "Imagine"

  • @messyblondemid90s "Imagine" is not even John Lennon's biggest solo hit. "Starting Over" was Lennon's biggest solo hit, his third biggest overall as well as being #3 on Billboard's year end countdown in 1981. The song spent 6 weeks at number 1 and rose up the charts after his unnecessay tragic death. Thank you for your time messyblondemid90's...anymore questions, ask away.

  • @eaglesyz I should have known that ..........of course "Just like starting over.".......I don't know why I thought of "Imagine".........Still remember hearing about his death on the radio - getting on!!!!

  • Great one! Thanks for uploading.

    Stonex

  • A Great American Song!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • He got his big break when Hank Ballard failed to turn up for a recording session of this song with the Midnighters. Georgeous sax - where have all the tenor sax players gone?

  • You know you wanna shake that

  • whenever i hear the other recording of this it sounds different
