fastjimmy... whats crack'n !!! just a courious question,,, did you paint the stripes on the car before putting a gloss or what !!! could you let me know please,,
Thank you for this good how-to fastjimmy71. Just one question when you do your coats of paint and primer do you let like the first coat dry before you spray the second?
Hey Jimmy, thanks for the vid. Question: Do you spend much time with the SMALL details of the car when sanding (I'm thinking primarily about door handles, etc). I'm wondering if I might damage the small details when I hit that stuff w/ sandpaper. I suppose if I'm just scuffing the plastic it shouldn't be a big deal, right?
How tight! Thnx, man i just got that 92 mustang gt you have in the back! This is my first time doing this so i hope it comes out good! Thnx again for the tips!
try a air brush, automotive paint and auto clear!!!! looks alot smoother and shines alot more than tha rattle cans, if u want to have tha killer paint job!!
love your work fastjimmy. quick question i have just done a wicked silver paint job for my 66 impala and i want to spray the window trim chrome but i dont want to leave tape marks on the car, does the tamiya tape leave marks when you pull it off?
Thanks for the how-to vids!! Y'all helping me build some sick stuff.. Just wanted to get some how-to's or advice on how to fuzzy fur interior. I want to try some wild two tone patterns.. Can u or anybody help me out??
hey man, I uploaded a video response. I used your advice to chop the doors and what not and I must say my models have never looked better. I hope you subscribe to me also. I love swapping out ideas and schemes. I have a great way how to install custom shag carpet and vinyl tops!
GREAT TIPS AND ADVICE. THE ONLY QUESTION I HAVE IS HOW LONG DO YOU WAIT TO APPLY ANOTHER COAT? ALSO HOW LONG DO YOU LET THE PAINT DRY BEFORE YOU APPLY THE NEXT COAT?
hey, veeery helpful vid,im doin a nova now and i was wondering if you had any tips for the first time builder, its pros like u that inspired me to build,if u have any tips ,email me at (heavychevy1919@ymail.com) thx alot keep up tha good work!
Hello from Croatia,I realy like your tourtioal for painting the body, for example:never mix diferent other bases...I know from expirience...this realy good..big thumb..BTW:Nova looks great...like it
Hi. How do you paint the chrome trim of the body. You know the trim around the windows of these scale cars. I have found this part of the project the toughest for me. Thanks, bro for any tips you can provide. And if you could do a video here on that would be very beneficial to all of us since nobody here ever talks abou that part of painting the body. Thanks.
Good tips. Your paint jobs always come out real good.
Oh yea, like you say, if you're doing a Testors job, make it all Testors, or all Tamiya or all Rustoleum, There are some that work together but to be safe, go with the same brand. I'm a Testors guy myself.
@geckoman1220 Actually, if there is one paint that you should use a primer on, it is lacquer. Depending on how "hot" the lacquer is, it can actually craze the styrene it is going over, thus ruining the paint job, and possibly the model itself.
Not to mention that a Primer coat will give you an even and better surface for the paint to adhere to, especially if you have any putty in seams or photo-etch parts on the kit.
@mookielowski those paint stands/carosels come as 2 stands in a package,,sold at most retail hobby shops or any hobby shop online,,micromark sells them as well,,hope this helps.
@ripgabby08 You can put any kind of paint, over any other kind of paint. The key is the layer of paint you just put on has to be cured. Not just dry, but cured, 2 different things. Enamel is usually dry in an hr or so, but can take days or weeks to cure. Lacquer and acrylics are usually dry to the touch within a few minutes, but can take 24-48hrs to cure. Once the previous coat has cured, you can put anything over it.
Very nice, very cool tip, Fastjimmy71. Every builder I know cut their teeth on rattlecans, so for everyone who is starting, this this a great discussion. Keep 'em coming. Great job.
Very cool. I love the Model Master paint. More colors to choose. Thanks for the tips! I have been wondering what you use for the polish. I will give it a shot. Laterz!

In between coats how long are you drying your coats? Do you use any kind of heat lamp or anything to help bake the paint in?
