I think it was a mistake to secede, but would definitely support my state through and through. Even today, my true loyalty lies with my state. Similar to my great great great grandfather who fought for the South.

First off, let me say that I am certainly not what you would call a "States' rights advocate" which is not to say I dismiss the notion altogether, but I do draw the line at secession. That said, this is pretty cool song & video. I think there are many values represented by these figures (e.g. Chivalry) that are worthy of admiration. Its too bad yall are so hard on poor Braxton Bragg though! He had alot of responsiblity and not alot of resources. I think he deserves a little more sympathy.

Most of the history of the Civil War in the NORTH -- much less the south -- plays down the slavery issue and the southern attack on Federal installations. If anything, history has been rewritten to favor the rebellion.
Do you have any idea why Fort Sumter was so important to Mr Lincoln? Many other Federal forts were surrendered to the new Southern Nation. Mr Lincoln was going to use it for a tax collecting booth when Charleston became a open port to the world. I really believe that war should be called the Lincoln Tariff War of 1861.

I was thinking about (something) carefully and I wanted to thank God for the American Confederate Soldiers who stood against the cruel and oppressive government of America back in 1861-1865. It's taken a 144 years for the governing body of this nation to reach the levels of tyranny as it did back then. This country misses the caliber of those men like General Robert E. Lee, and Thomas J. "Stonewall" Jackson.

ezzy, it's nice to hear from a black man who understands that the Civil War was not fought over slavery. We never hear in our history classes that Jefferson Davis offered to immediately end all slavery in the South if Lincoln would only let us secede peacefully. We also never hear that the Emancipation Proclamation ONLY freed the slaves in the South. Slavery was not abolished in the North until 1865, though some states had done it on their own.
Actually, the Emancipation Proclamation didn't free any slaves. The Beast Lincoln didn't have any authority in a foreign country. And it expressly didn't free any slaves in the United States. As a lifelong member of the American Colonization Society, Lincoln was in favor of emancipation of slaves only by removal back to Africa. He was a foul-mouthed racist who hated black people.

I would like to just Mintion that I was one of those Many from the Population in the Country that was indoctrinated from Childhood on up that The American Civil war was about Slavery and that the South was backwards and just full of Bigots. I am so thankful that I have been one of the few that was able to see through the smoke screen. First I went to the south, and I one day started to do more research about many things including the south.........Well we know now that none of it was true.

Much of Civil War history is untrue. Like most history it is written by the victor. There was no shining Northern force fighting a moral battle for the sake of ending slavery. There is no oppressive Southern force fighting to preserve it either. What these nice people are talking about here is after the South declared its independence, the Union ruthlessly invaded, leaving Southerners no choice but to defend themselves.

Most of the history of the Civil War in the NORTH -- much less the south -- plays down the slavery issue and the southern attack on Federal installations. If anything, history has been rewritten to favor the rebellion.

Do you have any idea why Fort Sumter was so important to Mr Lincoln? Many other Federal forts were surrendered to the new Southern Nation. Mr Lincoln was going to use it for a tax collecting booth when Charleston became a open port to the world. I really believe that war should be called the Lincoln Tariff War of 1861.

If you will take the time to look not once does the President mention slavery. However the Gettysburg Address is always looked at even in Southern Schools. I was thinking about (something) carefully and I wanted to thank God for the American Confederate Soldiers who stood against the cruel and oppressive government of America back in 1861-1865. It's taken a 144 years for the governing body of this nation to reach the levels of tyranny as it did back then. This country misses the caliber of those men like General Robert E. Lee, and Thomas J. "Stonewall" Jackson.

Maryland, Delaware, Missouri, and Kentucky
were slave states including West Virginia (which was separated from Virginia and became a new state) this were the 5 Union states that permitted slavery.

ezzy, it's nice to hear from a black man who understands that the Civil War was not fought over slavery. We never hear in our history classes that Jefferson Davis offered to immediately end all slavery in the South if Lincoln would only let us secede peacefully. We also never hear that the Emancipation Proclamation ONLY freed the slaves in the South. Slavery was not abolished in the North until 1865, though some states had done it on their own.

Actually, the Emancipation Proclamation didn't free any slaves. The Beast Lincoln didn't have any authority in a foreign country. And it expressly didn't free any slaves in the United States. As a lifelong member of the American Colonization Society, Lincoln was in favor of emancipation of slaves only by removal back to Africa. He was a foul-mouthed racist who hated black people.

I'm a Texan, also. We were an independent nation when we joined the Union by mutual treaty, and we can desolve that bond by the same means. We could leave the g.d. yankees to freeze in the dark. We've got nuclear weapons and B-1 bombers at Carswell, and the Hell on Wheels 2nd Armored at Fort Hood. And of course, fully half of the Marine Corps were born here in Texas.

In my country, Norway, some of those who consider themselves racists wear the confederate flag on their jackets, caps and so on - on purpose. Some of them also wear the grey, confederate battle hat, and it's all out of hatred for foreign races.
