hey Gigabyte guy, would you please enlighten me on how I might go about plugging the fan, the memory modules (and how the groove actually is what allows the module to be DIRECTLY plugged in) and the power connector INDIRECTLY? Props also for NOT showing the installation of the SSD in favour of your face.
Quite a disappointment from such a reputable company as Gigabyte.
Is it just me or was he being pretty careless with that hardware? Touching all the metal contacts, not grounding himself, not laying he motherboard on its anti-static bag... I'd hate to sound all parental, but it's not setting a good example for newbie PC builders :B Just all seems a bit slap-dash.
1. as long as he is not touching any conductive surfaces, grounding oneself is not needed.
2. you should not lay the motherboard on the Anti static bag, as it is conductive on the outside. if you power up a system for testing, while it is on the anti static bag, you will fry the motherboard.
----------------------
What is up with the ram he uses? Corsair Dominator GT 2400Mhz ram for a HT pc... lol
1. It doesn't matter whether he's touching conductive surfaces or not. If you're handling PC components, it's just good practice to ground yourself by touching the case or using a wrist strap.
2.Fair enough, I didn't know about that. But I wasn't referring to powering up while laid on the bag, just between getting the Motherboard out of the box and into the case
Looks like a nice setup but I'm surprised it worked and wonder how long it will last. Someone needs to teach this "Technical Marketing Manager" about ESD, he obviously knows far more about marketing than the technical part.
"make sure i don't ding anything"... proceeds to make a sound with the motherboard like banging pans together while he haphazardly shuffles it around in there. good thing it's durable i guess.
@mgut17 "ssd in a htpc, what a waste"...actually, its not, i use a 64gb ssd for quick boots of win7...its super fast on load times...i use another 1tb green drive for recording to. so an ssd is not a waste
The case is Luxa2 and its $600! The guy is living in a fantasy seriously... Luxa2, SSD, Dominator, i3, and optical blu-ray! This has overkill written all over it!
I built my HTPC on a $350 budget with a AMD X3 3.2GHz, GIGABYTE GA-880GM, 2TB HDD, 4GB RAM, all packed nicely inside a nMEDIAPC HTPC 5000B. I already had a power supply and dvd-writer. It now acts as my NAS (WHS) and Media center (XBMC). Consumes 32W while playing 1080p. Thats $9/year for electricity with always-on. And it is quiet...
@efrancesco Excellent setup there. Fantastic choice of motherboard too. Agree this guy has just gone overkill. I use an Athlon II X2 and its more than enough. All built for less than £200 ($310)!!
Gigabyte Make Sure to Provide the comfortable ways to all users so they decide to give +1 extra asian free for real overclock when you just relaxing >> xD lol ^___^
yeah but its a promotion video so there going to use shit that noobs will buy an spend outrages amounts of money. why cant they make a video with good cheap and quick parts.
Is this mobo made mainly for HTPCs? or does it have the power to be actually a PC and be able to do the normal tasks? (browsing, writing, maybe audio and video editing, photoshop, and gaming with a decent video card since it has a PCI-E slot) Thanks
The Graphics core is not integrated into the CPU core. The graphics core lives next to the CPU core. It is a two die on single package system. The 32nm process GPU does not share a core with the 45nm CPU. Merely the package.
Dominator GT w/ a USB TV tuner...wow...not being able to utilize the PCIe-x16 slot is fail imo as well. If you want to build a high end HTPC, most power users will be looking at the Ceton InfiniTV 4 as well...I think this video should be redone - this system is extremely low end other than the memory & ssd...
@TheRaawan i dont think so...i dunno about gigabyte having many mini-atx boards for amd but if the case supports micro-atx there are a variety of boards to choose from...
SSD, hi-end memory and USB TV-tuner? lol, you have an free PCI-E x16 port. External drive to transfer data between PCs? pft, connect it to the network god
@ThinkLearnSolve why they didn't add a 430 low-profile i dont know. they made everything else over kill. Intel HD graphics are probably the major bottleneck here....

the most moronic buid i have ever seen,
i give that system a short shelf life.
intel new inter-graded graphics sucks, they should of never implemented them into the cpu's.
i would rather go with a mid tower to a frag box build for media center pc's at the same price and more powerful.
