  • great - is the backing from the computer? what software can give me that sax?

  • Loving the tradtitional

  • I don't like electronic drums at all, but if it means the difference between being able to play and not, like in an apartment or something, then it is better than nothing.

  • what tune is this?

  • tune is "last week" from bop drumming!

i did a trascription of the drums in the head! book is by john rylie! highly recommended

  • lol i thought u meant the song was dated

  • oh hell yeah u can get the same Dynamics I have a TD9 and it gives me the sound range that I need :DDfor Jazz;)

  • Yeah, I think the song is "School Days" from the Bop Drumming book.

  • The only thing I don't agree with about that is I don't think that jazz is dependant on the instrument you use to play it. I persoanlly think that jazz drumming is more about timing and other subtle things, not just about how the drums sound.

It's true that you will never create the sound of nice drums on electric, but it doesn't mean that you can't play jazz on electric drums.

  • What do you mean it's impossible? He just did it. It's really no different except one is digital sound and the other is natural. That basically like saying you can play jazz organ on a keyboard, you have to use a real organ.

  • There are many reasons why jazz drummers choose to play acoustic kits. Jazz drumming is extremely varied in dynamics, you can't get the same subtleties from sampled drum and cymbal sounds. I'll have no part in a petty debate.

  • You just started in this petty debate, lol. My electic have pessure sensitive triggers (as do almost every other electric kit), whcih menas you can vary volume and dynamics and such just as easily. It won't sond exact, but you can still do jazz drumming on an electric kit.

  • congradulations.

  • Phail.

  • im with you man..electric drums have come a long way and sound amazing. fortunately as good as they may sound, they still don't top the sound of acoustic kits. they're great for indoor playing and recordings but for the drummer who loves the beauty of the acoustics this doesn't do it.

    tony the drummer

  • Are those standard DTX drumsounds? Or did you import those sounds through midi into the dtx-module?

  • I like all styles of music. Being a trumpet player though I perfer jazz and a good drummer is the driving force of the music. Great job

  • great set

  • Yeah is the "art of bob drumming" but I think you have to listen about the drums set language in that book.

  • Is the song you're playing to out of the 'Art of Bop Drumming' by John Riley? If so I'm working out of that book myself - it's an excellent book.

  • Very nice indeed. I am very impressed with how good you have made the electronic kit sound and feel in this genre. My complements sir.
