  • get a snow blower...

  • thats 1 hell of a shovel i just got insdie from shoveling snow my bone hands hurt now :(

  • Hey Rick thanks for the recommendation! I found a shovel exactly like yours at our local ACE hardware store and next snow I'm going to give it a whirl. I hope it works as well for me as it did for you! I'm in Omaha, NE and so far this year we've been lucky but I feel it won't be long now .... I'll keep you posted after I give it a try!

  • Hi Rick, I have one of these but you seem to have the one with the improved handle making it easier to lift the tip as you ride up over the banks. Where'd you get it? Wet snow is easy. You don't feel the weight nearly as much because you never lift it off the ground. It's all done with sliding.

  • Still can be exhausting though and it's anerobic. Rest. Unless you like lifting the same snow again and again. Sticking snow is one of the great miseries of shoveling. Hardware stores carry silicone spray to make non stick shovels.

  • Ah, spray silicone. Thanks for the tip. I'll try that too. @PatrikMacGoohan

  • @NESNABeloit Parifine cooking wax works better and you only need to rub it on once a year. Just take the block of wax and rub it all over the surface, doesnt take much.

  • Good to know. Thanks! @ChiefWiggim

  • @PatrikMacGoohan rub canning wax(parafin wax) on shovels and plows,it will stop the snow from sticking for the rest of the year, guess thats another maine thing : )

  • Where... sorry don't recall. My buddy Paul found that he could get an online deal by ordering like 6-8 so a number of us in the neighborhood all went in together on it. An idea for others interested in following suit to save a few bucks. @PatrikMacGoohan

  • we call them snow scoops up here in Northern Maine!! we use them to scoop off roofs,I use my atv with plow to plow the yard.

  • Snow scoops, really? The neighbor who first introduced me to this is originally from Main. @ChiefWiggim

  • @NESNABeloit McCains froozen foods up here hire 20 guys with snow scoops to clean the big Factory roofs off,it would be like you taking a scoop full and walking across walmart to the other side and dumping it off the roof anf then walking back for another, We get alot of snow a year. Just had a 20" storm Monday

  • @ChiefWiggim Hope they're paid well. Don't know if I'd want to be on a roof that had so much snow it needed to be shoveled off. youtube(dot)com/watch?v=IxuxNLf87_Y

  • @RicksterM01 $12-$15 an hour,thats good money up here.

  • "plow the yard"?

I've never heard of such a thing. A Northern Main thing? @ChiefWiggim

  • @NESNABeloit search my videos and you will see my atv with the plow on it and the yard I plow.

  • @Xxbox360GamingxX

Nope, Wisconsin. Mentioned Ames as the manufacturer not the city. Their website Ames(dot)com makes no mention of where they're located. That's odd.

  • were u live?

  • I am taking a break from shoveling snow my miserable drive way('m trying it as fun) wow..sweating

We should invent heat melting snowscooter.

Use some MP3 music(cheerful music) Use kicks too. arm restle gives heartattack

Acutally the best way is making snow man. lol

    good work Rick.

  • Ah, heat melting snowscooter... good idea.

I wonder if there's such a thing as radiant heated driveways. Y'know like heated tile floors in the bathroom? Weather report says snow is coming. So I flip the switch and it melts as it lands. I can then drive out to the bank for a loan to pay energy cost. =)

  • I thought about that too hahaha Asian house floor heating system is incredible.

Loan won't be the only problem. Gov. would brag about you are causing Global warming.lol

I did tons of snow removal and hot bath:P feel good just like after work out.

Scooter will be a fun or gather children to do snowman competition...how about that?

    lalalala

  • The system does exist! There are a few national manufacturers that use either electric or an independent zone on a water boiler system.

  • @johneastmond Coo! I kinda' thought there might be such a thing. I'm on my way to the big box store. :)

  • bought 1 cuz of someone referencing you on a website and i love it - moves a lot of snow fast

  • @cv0669 Yeah, I saw the spike in views. Cool!

I'm into year two with it and for what it does it's great. fwiw, there are still situations where the conventional shovel is handy but most of the shoveling is with the sleigh shovel.

  • Those are the best shovels =)

Wish we had snow just for the fun (and great excercise) of shoveling snow =)

  • I just bought one and a friend sent me your video. I don't have the bent handle. I'm going to get to test it today, though there isn't a lot of snow but it will give me a sense of how well it works for me.

  • do they make smaller versons

  • I've seen several widths. Search for sleigh and/or sled shovels and you'll find them.

  • Great video! I'm getting one!

This year, I'm gonna make Winter my bitch!

  • Comment removed

  • blow up

  • I use an angled snow shovel (like the blade of a plow truck) and walk right down the middle of the drive when I get to the end I turn around walking down again with the snow discharging out the right side only there by opening up the drive. If the snow is deep, I open up the middle and then push the snow from the middle to the edge, working to my right. sidewalks; walk down the right side then turn around and walk down the right side again. The rig you got there is too long!

  • If you've a better idea I'm all ears. After some looking I found one at twice the price I payed for the one I used above. Will give it a go next season. However, I'm in no hurry as we're enjoying our summer. Thanks for the suggestion.

  • good video rick

  • well there is barely any snow only like 3 inches

  • I checked the snow depth at the beginning. ~ 6". You can see it goes above my ankle. Perhaps that is not a lot for you. By the time I got out to the road at the end of the drive where the plows had come by it was ~12"+.
