i would like to ask a question. why is it that when i record a video in 16:9 widescreen format and record it in XP ( which i suppose is HD, since SP and LP are lower quality looking ), and upload it to YouTube, the video on YouTube displays as 4:3 and looks like shit ?
anyone know if you can edit on movie maker etc because ive heard different comments. some say that you cant edit on movie maker (different format) others say you can??? im thinking of getting this for christmas, it looks like such a good cam for the price, any help would be appreciated
Caught ya! Trying to look for gold on my estate are ya boy! This camera is awesome, bought one a few weeks ago and am amazed at the quality for such a small price.
Don't buy Panasonic they have the worst customer service dept! Just hope your new camcorder doesn't fall apart. Google them and you will see all the complaints!
Very true. Panasonic customer support is the worst I've ever experienced. However, I wouldn't trade my SDR-S26 for another camcorder (in fact, I traded my JVC GZ-MS120 for it).
Usually I don't purchase additional warranties but your best bet is to bypass panasonic altogether and buy it from somewhere like Future Shop and purchase their warranty service (and they typically throw in a 16gb card with it if you ask them to). This way, you can get it fixed quick without any hassle if needs be.
I just bought this camcorder, and no it cannot be imported to windows movie maker directly, Panasonic wants you to use their software "Video Cam Suite" to edit and play your videos. In order to import the video in windows movie maker I had to manually search through the flash drive and find the MOD file I recorded.
Does anyone know how to get the 16:9 widscreen ratio to appear in windows movie maker?
No, I didn't use digital zoom here, it was only optical 70x.
Yes, it can go up 3500x using digital zoom but I don't use that, I think that is useless. When I use digital zoom I only use option that let You go up to 100x.
I also have this camcorder. How are you uploading the videos? Are you using the YouTube upload function in the VideoCam Suite 2.0 software that comes with it? What settings are you using when you record (XP, SP, LP)? It looks like you are using the 3x4 format rather than 9x16. When I upload I do not get the HQ button and I am trying to figure out why. Thanks.
I didn't use "YouTube upload function in the VideoCam Suite 2.0" yet. I'm recording in XP settings, at this time it was in 4:3 format but i'm using 16:9 too. By now I'm editing my videos in Camtasia Studio and converting them, so they take less space on hdd. I'm uploading by Youtube website
How big was the original file? It was an mpg file right? Can you describe exactly what you did when 'converting' the file? How large was the file after the conversion? What was the resolution of the file before and after conversion? What version of Camtasia are you using? How do you like it? Thanks.
Original was mpg file about 90mb. In Camtasia I only convertet it to wmv format using preset named "camtasia studio best quality and file size". After that it was about 22mb. Resolution left the same as original (704x576)
I'm using Camtasia studio 4. It's good software for screen recording and that was reason why I start using it.
@devart666 any idea if camtasia did the deinterlacing for you? or was the wmv still interlaced when uploaded here? I ask 'cause it seems a bit bad when you're moving from side to side, almost like ghosting effects...

If you want the 16:9 ratio, you should be able to simply rename the file .mpeg instead of .MOD

Can it be imported to Windows movie maker?
