I think that the human brain does not die initially when the body dies, so neurons firing off unrestricted merely generate an experience based on our culture. If we grew up as a Buddhist, then I doubt we'd have the same experience as a Christian, etc.. when you die, and your brain finally does expire, then you are simply non-existent

There was 2 sides of me, the one that could feel the heavy body and the lighter very aware side that was above my body. I was very relaxed and knew what was happening and just observed my body which was alive with sensations. Eventually I drifted back into my body.

It was proved by British scientists at Southampton University who did the study on NDE phenomenon. You could even read all about it in the mainstream media few years ago. His first study (in 1998) was based on cardiac arrest patients where he and his colleagues also made a discovery 'lack of oxygen' theory is flawed.Ive never actually seen the study since it was made all the way back in 98' so its posibble its not online however Ive read several articles and interviews and the study is commonly referred as Parnia et al., 1998

A lack of oxygen in the brain and an increase in CO2 doesn't explain the vast majority of near-death and pre-death experiences that have been documented all over the world. I'd recommend that skeptics read LIFE AFTER LIFE, by Dr. Raymond Moody. I'd also highly recommend INTO THE LIGHT and LEARNING FROM THE LIGHT, by John Lerma, M.D. Life is energy, and it can't be destroyed. However, It certainly does change form. Not believing in something doesn't make it any less real.
As much as I hope there is and want to believe that there is, I just simply cannot tell myself that there is a life after death. I believe that once we are dead then thats that and we won't mind the sad truth because we are not concious to care. When I rip out a blade of grass from the ground, what happens to that grass? I think that the human brain does not die initially when the body dies, so neurons firing off unrestricted merely generate an experience based on our culture. If we grew up as a Buddhist, then I doubt we'd have the same experience as a Christian, etc.. when you die, and your brain finally does expire, then you are simply non-existent

When you dream your brian is still active but it is no longer receiving signals from the outside world. So basically you are never unconscious, when you sleep you are dreaming even if you cant remember. Your mind, never goes to sleep. Only your physical body does.

Consciousness is a false concept. There are only active structures responding to outside stimuli; input->output. Just like how plants grow towards the sun, the nervous system is doing whatever benefits itself, but in a far more evolved, complex manner. Self-awareness happens as >1 sources of information inputs (our senses) become centralized, entangled and complex enough to create some sense of understanding of what things are and the ability to ask why, including its own ability to question.

@lyteweaver I have had out of body experiences, the last time when I was a doing a 10 day meditation retreat. I lifted out of my body in a deep state of meditation. There was 2 sides of me, the one that could feel the heavy body and the lighter very aware side that was above my body. I was very relaxed and knew what was happening and just observed my body which was alive with sensations. Eventually I drifted back into my body.

I can have out of body experiences, I have never had an NDE but the feeling of being out of body is totally euphoric. However, It didn't used to be. When I was young my OBEs used to scare the 'life' out of me but as I have got older I have learned so much. There is definitely something after life IMO. Only a couple of years ago I realised I could go through walls etc. I now can communicate with spirits. As we get older I guess we get nearer to the spirit world, only way I can explain it.

His first study (in 1998) was based on cardiac arrest patients where he and his colleagues also made a discovery 'lack of oxygen' theory is flawed.Ive never actually seen the study since it was made all the way back in 98' so its posibble its not online however Ive read several articles and interviews and the study is commonly referred as Parnia et al., 1998

A lack of oxygen in the brain and an increase in CO2 doesn't explain the vast majority of near-death and pre-death experiences that have been documented all over the world. I'd recommend that skeptics read LIFE AFTER LIFE, by Dr. Raymond Moody. I'd also highly recommend INTO THE LIGHT and LEARNING FROM THE LIGHT, by John Lerma, M.D. Life is energy, and it can't be destroyed. However, It certainly does change form. Not believing in something doesn't make it any less real.

As much as I hope there is and want to believe that there is, I just simply cannot tell myself that there is a life after death. I believe that once we are dead then thats that and we won't mind the sad truth because we are not concious to care. When I rip out a blade of grass from the ground, what happens to that grass? It dies. Does it have feelings of peace and love? Does it fsee a light? What about a bird or a moose or even bacteria? Life is life and we'll all feel death the same way

Of course the conscious survives after death, and the subject has been studied to death and various phenomena prove it beyond any doubt. So many people put their own ignorant, baseless believes over simple evidence.. And survival of consciousness after death only involves lifeforms with a conscious / self-awareness, so grass has nothing to do with the subject. Geez.

I mentioned some of the reasons why right in my post, but you filtered that out. People have been put through tests who claimed out of body experiences and can accurately describe what they see when out of their bodies. This has been verified time and time again. Dreams can't explain that.

@MrGrevy As I've stated before, there's over 150 years of research into NDEs, OBEs, past life memories, and other phenomena. This doesn't come from youtube or wikipedia, they just refer to those studies. Many of those studies were done by scientists who were skeptical at first, but not after finding out facts. It's not unsubstantiated story telling. It's interviewing people to verify what they say is true. Testing and verification, is obviously something you don't shit about.

In his own words he wrote about viewing a cleric go into a trance who caused a female figure to materialize right in front of him in broad daylight. The cleric clapped his hands, then the ghost-woman clapped hers. Wallace examined her up close for several minutes before she dematerialized. She appeared to be conscious, yet she had no physical brain. So far Sagan and Wallace are liars I guess.

It comes from a massive release of DMT, which sends the brain into a hallucinogenic state. This can be replicated artificially and whats weird about DMT trips is that they're all the same and people have either a heaven or hell experience but everyone describes either experience the same way.
