  • . . . i really REALLY liked the first 5 - 7 seconds !! other than that...?

  • I think my ears just had a little bit of an orgasm.

  • yay! its in Eb! i play Eb instuments :D

  • @jon96ify same here :)

  • I wanna hear low B-flat

  • I WANT ONE

  • Doug you are the best ...

  • this is the same as a contrabass, it's just been reconfigured to make it more practical so it's not 7 feet long or however massive a contrabass is, and theres also one lower than this, which is definitely more of a "monster daddy"

  • Up until 0:14, the sound (vibrato?) reminded me of a didgeridoo.

  • I play tenor, but I want a tubax just so I can say I have one. :D

  • 0:23 reminds me of Donna Lee

  • impressionnant !!

  • Damn, really cool!

  • He's A GREAT GUY also

    Amazing player on all woodwinds

  • aaaaaah!!!!! a yellow fart machine!!!!!!

  • @yufffi That is only how it sounds at the beginning

  • You could make the brown noise with that thing

  • lol the tubax is a contrabass...

  • this dude needs to play the ducktales theme

  • That was sweet.

  • if you think the tubax is big you should see the contrabass sax ha ha

  • that is one of bigest sax i though the bari sax was big but damn that has a nice sound to it

  • Is this Daves Instrument Repair Shop?! I remember the awesome black tenor and alto

  • i want one so bad

  • you can one from brazil for 17.000 usd.

  • @epikownage lol someone at my school only played clarinet half way through 6th grade quit and joined back in 8th grade on baritone and he is not good

    seriously

  • It's in Bb.

  • the tubax weighs less than the contrabass saxophone.

  • wow daddy but i think the contrabass is still the monster daddy of all instruments

  • in terms of size, tubax is compatible with bass and bari sax mouthpieces

  • The contrabass what?

  • @hartillius This is the exact same instrument....

  • Comment removed

  • @hartillius subcontrabass

  • DAMN!!!

  • Holy crap!! I'm almost speechless...

  • omg thats freaking awesome

  • you gotta have some serious chops to play that thing

  • omg thats soo cool!

  • the contrabass sax shld be the lowest i think

  • is contrabass bassoon lower or a tubax?

  • they're the same i think,

the tubax can go an octave higher because it's got two octave keys,

i think the tubaxe's range is the same as the bari but with an octave added onto the bottom.

  • It's bottom range is an octave below the bari bottom range

It's mid range is equivalent to the bari bottom range

It's high range is equivalent to the bari mid range

It's altissimo range is equivalent to the bari's high - altissimo range.

Just like comparing a bari with an alto.

  • the tubax is almost the equvelent of a double reed sarrusophone. its in the key of BBBb and can be bought in CCC, its really low, and more than an octave lower than a bari, and like it does go higher than the bari, about the same range just sounds a lot lower

  • @nerdz4life8 Contrabassoon is lower than a E-flat Tubax. B-Flat Tubax is lower than a Contrabassoon by 1 half step.

  • it's like a jazzy dijirido!

  • holy shit, i thought my baritone was big, but this thing is evil!

  • Try the contrabass saxophone.

  • this is bigger than the contrabass.

  • I know its bigger.

  • actually a tubax is only a little higher than 4 feet. a cb sax is about 7 ft.

  • Thats what I thought

  • The Eb tubax is smaller than the contrabass, and has the same range of notes. The Bb, is bigger than the Bb but smaller than the contrabass, and sounds an octave lower than the bass.

  • you guys are idiots,a bass clarinet is shorter than a bari but it has practically the same range, the tubax is the lowest

  • i know that, but how did we get on the subject of bass clarinets? by the way, nice screen name, you proud of it?

  • lol.. dude.. are u really a homo?

  • None of you understand instrument physics. The length of the BORE determines the minimum resonant frequency (lowest note). So any two wind instruments, trumpets or saxophones or clarinets, with the same bore length will have the same lowest note. The "height" or whatever of the instrument is irrelevant.

  • You clearly don't understand instrument physics either. The shape of the bore for example is also very important: the cylindrical clarinet can be much shorter than the conical sax, bassoon, oboe, trumpet,... for an identical frequency (tone).

  • quite possibly true, however how many clarinet players can play a pedal note?

  • I still think its funny that me( i play tuba) can hit more notes than a sexaphone with only 4 buttons,,,i know all they are sopossed to sound different but that just is ironic lol

  • i think its also funny,

just by changing your embouchure you can switch notes by fifths octaves and what not.

  • @metallica2014 Saxes don't have a large natural range. Without altissimo it's barely over 2 octaves. With a typical altissimo range however you can get 3+ easy. Clarinets have a much larger range. I focus on Soprano mainly but on bass clarinet (with low C extension) I can get nearly 5 complete octaves. (Bb1 to in and around Eb6, depending on the reed and day.)

  • @pianomancuber91 a tubax i belive has a contra - mid alto range with the help of like 3 extra octive keys on it

  • what a useful instrument

  • tubaxophone

  • HOLY CRAP! AWESOME!!!

I thought only sub-contrabasses were called tubaxes though...

  • DOug Webb is a beast

  • Crazy low!!

    I Love it

  • OMG!!

  • holy crap. That's awesome!
