@BishounenNerd It's Roger paired with Gerald Scarfe. Who knows what they both were trying to convey with that? Or if they were trying to convey anything. LOL
I love this video... It was animated by Gerald Scarfe, who went on to animate The Wall movie and clips for live performances. What an amazing talent he is...
Pink Floyd is one of the few bands that sound better live than on an album. I saw them 7x, including twice for the DS tour in 1973, also in "75" and "77" and 3x after that, without Waters.
They performed longer versions of their album songs. And they also gave more for your money, with two encores. Many bands do a quick 4O minute set, but Floyd often played for over two hrs. My "boot" collection of them from the 70's is fairly large.
This video's primitive graphics make it THAT much more trippy than the videos of today. Less is more, the "Rope" music video for the Foo Fighters is a perfect example of that,
they're playing this on VH1 Classic right now. its so cool but its so scary at the same time lol. was this video used for the backing video for when they played it live or was it an actual promo video?
@miiwii93 They used it as a backing video at the time and later is was used as the promotional video for your song so to answer your question, it's both
@miiwii93 Yeah what he said. LOL The animation was created in 1974 or 75 for use behind the band during the Animals Tour in 1977. It was shown at many concerts afterwards as well.
the machine is Saturn(cronus, god of time or father time)... the blood of all the ppl going up to the rectangular cube at the end symbolises how saturn has control over our 3 dimensional physical world that we live in, Saturn controls time and space, spacetime the 4th dimension. recently as of today actually an article came out on phys org website saying time is no longer believed to even be a dimension. The monolith in space odyssey represents the same thing. "Black cube of saturn" search that
EMI is blocking all studio versions on youtube, so we're stuck with the stupid live version where we have to put up with the off sounding instrumentals and the cheering assholes in the crowd. In short. FUCK EMI! WELCOME TO THE MACHINE BITCHES!
It is a crime against humanity that we don't have more video and audio documentation of this band. Thank you for posting as much as you have! You are a god among men.

Whenever I see that cylinder drip blood, it makes me think of a nuclear smokestack cracking. Was that intentional, or is it just what I see?
