Very cool. I made one in woodshop class at school. Took me a month to make. Mine is different. It had two 2 1/2 weights as counterweight, and has wheels on the sides.
Hi, I will be making a trebuchet in my DT (design and technology) class, and I was wondering if you have a rough set of plans you work from, and if so where can I find them?
Sorry, the plans, such as they are, are on paper, but I switched to tracing from a master set of pieces i cut out a long time ago. That said, trebs are pretty basic designs. The arm should be at 45 degrees in the ready-to-fire position, and that will determine all the other dimensions. As far as the position of the main axle, divide the arms length in half, then half that again, so you wind up with three times the throwing end being three times as long as the bucket end.
@imgunby hey i have made the structure of trebuchet in mah skool exactly same as given on d net bt it isn'i wrkng probably coz i have made the sling wrong nd m not gettin d way to make it can u plsss plsss plsss help me out???
I wasn't able to find any material that worked well for the traditional sling that is fixed at one end at this scale. Instead of doing that, I attach a piece of looped string to something of the right weight so the projectile and sling are one piece.
Using a pair of jewelry making pliers, I twisted the trigger hook out of a straightened paper clip and lashed it to an eye bolt in the cross-piece using a few turns of bookbinders thread, then coated in wood glue. The projectile itself is made of a small hex nut with a loop of hemp beading cord in place of the sling and pouch.
