I am not sure if nation building would work in Afghanistan but what U.S. forces should have done back in late 2001 was to inform the Afghan people who lived in Al Qaida and Taliban held areas that we are the modern Mongols and we are angry about 9/11 and that their government was responsible for thousands of deaths on American soil.
