On a reply from an avid youtube viewer, how this helps with 'smooth soloing ideas' is once you can play all your chords in one position it will help with 'voice leading' and chord changes, esp for bassist who tend to play alot in a 'root' position, therefore knowing your inversions will make your soloing lines sound like music and not an exercise. Nice one, Grant! Although very useful, some less-advanced players may want some more explanation on the process you are demonstrating, especially when it comes to inversions and involutions.
Hi George ! Yes, I agree...and I do this when teaching one-on-one. I posted this to help current students when at home who need to revise what we have covered during our lesson, and also for anyone who is wanting to explore inversions etc.... of course, I tell them to check your vids too ! cheers.
