I remember hearing this song a lot because my college roommate had a record of it .I still listen to it because I Taped it. Great sounding old style Elvis!!
@ukochrono2; He hired professional song writers that were employed at Music Publishing Companies to write the songs for him! He did co-write "' Heartbreak Hotel "" with Mae Axton, Hoyt Axton's mother and he co-wrote some others with Red West. Red West was a very talented Song Writer, a fact overlooked by most people
A TWENTY ONE YEAR OLD GENIUS. EVEN THOUGH THERE WAS AN ACTUAL RECORD PRODUCER THERE, IT WAS IN NAME ONLY. ELVIS WAS ACTUALLY IN CHARGE. SELECTING MUSICIANS(RCA DIDNT WANT SCOTTY, BILL AND DJ) COACHING THE ARTIST(ELVIS), AND IN GENERAL, CONTROLLING THE RECORDING SESSIONS(HE WOULD ASK AND GET 2ND, THIRD.... 40TH TAKES FOR A 2-3 MIN SONG. THIS WAS UNHEARD OF IN THOSE DAYS. HE HAD TO FIGHT VERY HARD TO GET THESE REQUEST OKED. HE TOLD THE COLONEL, FINALLY, TO EARN YOUR PAY & GET IT DONE.
If I could have written a hundred songs for Elvis, and he put his name next to mine on all of them, would I object? no baby, I'd be happy to know I'd have a guaranteed one hundred hit records, with money in the bank and still have some credit for being the author. It happened all the time with musicians,maybe still does. but mostly the record owner was the main culprit.
My dad had this in his record collection and when I discovered it at age 6, I played it constantly for 6 months and eventually wore the needle out!! Paralyzed was one of my favorites off of the album, but I loved every song.
this song reminds me of my grandpa at thanksgiving and christmas dancing with everyone and doing his little twist....i miss you grandpa.....this one is for you
This was one of the first records I remember playing on an EP with Is It So Strange? And they are still two of my favourites, even though the aunt who bought it for me bought it because she thought I would like Old Shep
@carozealand I think you have a problem with those lyrics because they aren't there. Not sure what you were listening to, but there is nothing I hear in this song that remotely resembles "I jus swanted you to be mine"
@paulmccartney7elvisp;
No, ELVIS is the LEGEND that created the sound.

@ukochrono2 You got it! But wasn't his idea, I think was his managers, ol' Colonel Parker.
Harmonator1000 6 months ago
@ukochrono2 Elvis never wrote a song that he recorded. He got credited for two of them, but never actually lifted a pen and wrote the lyrics.
But that doesn't mean he isn't the greatest artist ever.

Annunciation ????? try listening to jailhouse rock .......Daddy do da day wah wah .....
right near the end it's attrocious ....but i think your missing the point carozealand ...
Apart from other things he could have bought New Zealand after he sang Love Me Tender ....Enjoy and let it all hang out ! Elvis <3

I love this song, but some of the enunciation in it leaves a bit to be desired. "I jus swanted you to be mine" for instance.
