Holy crap!, Big love for the Firefighters of the world, Your doing a huge job!, I had two house fires and I started both by mistake when I was 3 and 8, So thanks if you were involved in putting them out lol, O and my Focus went on fire too, After 7000 ponds got put into the bodywork :/ I have before and after pics of the Foci of anyone is a Car fan. I drive a Honda now :)
Those fire fighters should have known better than to enter that structure. The had no water flowing & no sing of a bcak up line. They scared the hell out of the kids also. WTF is there problem. All of the fire fighters in that video need to do a critique of what went wrong. Even the fire fghter with out his bunker pants on should be in on that to help teach the 2 guys that almost got bruned badly what they are supposed to do. I hope they learned fast what not to do!
Also I can't find the video on here but it was in here or firefighternation or somewhere, but anyway you are not supposed to open a hose on a guy who has superheated bunker gear. Sure his helmet was on fire but you are supposed to remove the gear delicately and not cool it down with water. Like I said saw that in a video on here somewhere but I can't find it now. At least one person was smart enough to pull them out though. 3 guys there and not one though it was a bad idea.
If you pay attention, you can see at 0:12, the nozzle man starts beating at his buddy to try and get out. He had been burning for quite some time there before he got out, and it looks like his hose man wasn't in great shape either by the time he got out.
I don't know what made these guys think going in without even putting a drop of water on the fire was a good idea, but they both paid for it in a horrible way.
Helmet $250, Gloves $50, Radio $1,000, Bunker Gear $2,000, SCBA $2,500. YOUR LIFE PRICELESS. WTF???? A fully envolved shed what like 1,200 degrees? Your bunker gear is rated for 500 degrees for 5min and is useless after direct flame contact??? Risk vs ?????? ummmm uhhh nope pretty much all RISK. I will use this in training as a think before you do stupid shit class. Charged hoseline is useless if you dont use it...Be Safe Brothers... use what you learned here today... Fire is Hot ...lol
Well, um they had a charged line. Why they didn't use it before trying to make entry is beyond me. The safety officer jumped in and put an end to it quickly enough.
A full turnout gear is NOT fire proof, its job is to insulate the firefighter from being exposed to heat. The bunker gear gets damaged by fire within 3 seconds of exposure to fire.
Not sure what in the hell happened to this vid; what the probies did/been told to do, I just hope they are alright.
When you are in a flashover situation, where a room your are in ends up looking like this shed(?) ,you typically have about 10 seconds max to get out alive,if you are in proper full PPE.The only thing I can think that were going through these guys mins was 1: They were familiar with this fact and thought "Hey,well crawl inabout 5 feet for 5 secs and crawl right back out " or 2:Were totally unfamiliar with this fact and needed much more training before being allowed to even hold a line near a fire
The first guy is an idiot, the one that followed him is just plain dumb!..Career vs. volunteer is absolutely besides the point. Since they both ruined their turnout by that short time exposed to flame, it might be the perfect time to just fire them both!!! They put their department in a precarious predicament. Call their Risk Manager and ask...
Ok all you people who are not firefighters just stop talking because when you are in a position you do not think and it is hard to see with all that smoke, and the new people need to train for that kind of stuff so i think that was a good training thing but the only problem is that they should of had a more experienced member with them in front and i don't think i seen a set of irons on them but maby that is just me.
@lucasrlemley you F****** idiot!! thats a fully involved "structure" fire!!! there is no way im sending my men into that!! Nothing about that video is ok. Everything went horribly wrong!! Defensive ops were needy on that one not OFFENSIVE!!!!!
WTF!!!!! is wrong with this guy. he is trained to know that firegear is not fire proof. Im a young firefighter and i havent been doing it long but even i can say thats fuckin stupid!!!!
WTF!!!!! is wrong with this guy. he is trained to know that firegear is not fire proof. Im a young firefighter and i havent been doing it long but even i can say thats fuckin stupid
@SpiderRider3 sure about that? 'cause I use it to put out the fire. if you hose yourself down it will create steam in your gear and you will cook yourself alive. but since I'm in a good mood I will take it as you were ironic
Any firefighter knows not to go into a room thats flashed over, Its just common sence, I blame the training for this firefighter to think it was ok to go in!! You may not know but this exercise uses a kid from the audience thats the one that goes in second its awful. Don't worry in England your safe our services are A*
firefighters all share a common trait called "pride". were all tunnel vision and dont know when to stop. say what you want, my adrenilne proboly would have got me doing the samee thing
@hunnersmith94 theres a huge difference between pride and stupidity... first of all this is a fire prevention demonstration, no one should be getting hurt in a demonstration. second of all, if this were a real fire and there were people inside... theyre already dead!! it may be sad that someone lost their life in a fire but getting yourself killed doesnt change that fact. with a little more experience you will start to see things differently. take pride in the fact that everyone goes home safe
And once again assholes that give the fire service a bad name. I hope they were fired or booted no matter paid or volunteer. Then the chief, safety and training officers should spend a few days off. And again I say assholes that give true firefighters a bad name.
@weazlechin Not all cowboys are stupid. i'm from southern texas, about as "cowboy" As it gets. And we've never done anything that stupid in our company.. We'd never do anything that stupid...
These guys watched Backdraft too often I think. One good inhale of that smoke could have turned to tragedy. I guess at the least, well aside from traumatising kids, people got to see the reality of the dangers of fire.
Unbelievable, ive just finished my flashover training and even i can now tell when conditions are safe enough for a fire fighter to enter and when they are not. Absolutley no gas cooling to try and knock the flames back either, not that you should even try to enter in the 1st place.
WTF, dude? Were was the Officer in Charge and the Safety Officer?! That should have never happended. Total lack of safety. The idots who entered should have theur heads examined!
Lordvader you're an idiot. A flashover is total burn, the room is 100 percent involved and if you're in there you are dead. Temperatures reach 1000 plus degrees at the FLOOR level. Your nomex fails around 750. I sure hope you aren't a real firefighter, cuz if someones elses life depends on your knowledge of fire and fire behaivor one day I certainly pity them.
what idiots!! is this a training video or a demonstration? if their trainies they should fail. if their certified they should be fired....in full PPE a firefighter can only last a couple of seconds in a fully exposed compartment during flash over....and that guy in the back shoulda pulled them out right away instead of just sittin there..
Some do not, I am a paid trained ff and this was nothing but ignorance. We do not train this way and their should have been a saftey officer on the grounds of this practice burn and calling the shots
you never know the whole picture watch "Firefighter CLOSE CALL / Bailout" you might think the guy in it is stupid but he did a full search of even the closet while watchng the fire and bailed out before flashover headfirst in which he was trained and done many times
i would love to hear from the guy that went in and hear what he has to say bout this and why he went in haha way to put a good profession to shame what a dork
Not only should they have not crawled in. You should never spray water on someone coming out of a situation like that. Always take gear off first. What a dumb move
because the application of water will cause there turnout gear to suddenly compress and instantly shrinking....but realistically i think we all would spray someone when we saw them like that.
thats not a training mishap thats firefighters to afiad to tell there officer to fuck off.. if its that invovled no one will still be alive so u dont inter! i think there officer should get his ass kicked for leting this fuck up happen in the first place
These guys have to be some of the poorest trained volunteers that I have ever seen. Why are they even set up to go into a tool shed to fight fire from the interior. Its a fuckin TOOL SHED. The CO shouldnt have even let them set up to enter when its fully involved like that. IDIOTS
Zrett shut the fuck up firefighting is a real job u r just a pussy to do that so be a fire fighter for a day and the. Tell me if it is a real job or not
You really feel that volunteers are poorly trained. You really need to think that comment over. Many volunteers i know are just as trained if not more trained than some career firefighters. What does it matter anyway. Both volunteer and career do the same job. The only difference is that the career guys get a pay check.
Let me rephrase that. I thought I said it right..but maybe not. THESE volunteers are poorly trained. I NEVER said ALL volunteers are poorly trained. I've been that volunteer...and I've worked with some real idiots.I mean..not very motivated..kinda know it all... that do stupid shit. I agree that sometimes..the UNPAID professional does a better job. He/She isn't really motivated by money. They are there because they want to be. I wasn't trying to put all volunteers in the same group
thank you for saying what i was going to say but these guys must have never put on bunker gear...if the fire was covering the door like that..the door is my first target to knock down then ease in..
YOU F***ING IDIOTS. Seriously WHAT THE F*** were you thinking. Even as a training prop this was the stupidest idea of stupid ideas ever and the dumbest idea of dumb ideas ever.
The person who thought of this idea should be ashamed. Said perosn disgraced the fire service all around.
Really who in their right mind sends a firefighter into a TRAINING PROP fully engulfed in flames. Thanks to you they probably suffered injuries due to your DUMB A**!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
okay there not dumb if a person was in there youll do what you can and there might be falmes on the outside but when you get in sometimes its not that bad as it looks in the case of a flashover the flames rise and its clear near the floor.
lol dude I don't know how long you have been firefighting but these guys crawled into a wall of flames for a public demonstration. No people trapped not even a real structure on fire it was a training prop.
And if a person was in THAT i'm sorry people question why so many of our guys and gals are still getting killed in LODD and your thought process is the reason.
i know what you are saying but it looks more like a flash over at the door. but yes i do agree that should not have been done like that. but yet it was also slighty misleading
if anyone was in there, they'd be far past dead so why should we risk or lives for a lost cause. Risk a lot to save a lot, risk a little to save a little.
@lordvader665 1 lack of training 2 weres the safty officer with this one 3 way to give the dept and the chief the bad image becuase the felt like be superman
@lordvader665 You are an idiot if you think you would ever crawl into that room for ANY reason!!! if there was someone in there, they are dead! there is no grey area here, that is not a survivable room, they are DEAD! And even if you just wanted to go into the room, why wouldn't you open the hose line up first just to knock down the flames? Complete idiots!!!
@lordvader665 They are complete idiots. If a person was in there they are dead. That structure is fully involved and would have already flashed. You are also wrong about flashovers. Like @twotwo30productions said, you must not have been a firefighter very long because you do not even know what a flashover is. I will not go into the science but essentially everything in th room simultaneously ignites. With gear you have two seconds to get out or you are dead, anyone without gear is long dead
i would think theyd atleast crawl in but to walk o n the knees with head level nearly at the top of the building.... bad news. their face masks probably melted in seconds..
hahahaha 500 for five minutes? try 1800 i sure hope your not a fireman you should know that if you are, i have personally been in a fire for over twenty that was around 700 at floor level, they didnt knock the flames back before entry, cant just run into a building surrounded by flames.
who is the guy in the blue pants? and why does he yell at the firefighter who just came up to grab the hose cause the team wasnt able to hold on to it?
und ... ???
--- Wear Nomex and everything will be okay ---
This was actually at an open house demo for the public. The firefighter just joined as a volunteer and members thought it would be good for him to be on the line. The plan was for an experienced firefighter to go in a few feet with him while putting water on the fire. The "newbie" just went on in by his own accord while the rest prepaired to enter.
when a structure is fully involved like that. chances are its already destroyed. firefighter safety is the top priority in firefighting, then anyone trapped inside, then the structure.
that kind of fire i would fight from the outside, then in if there is anything left.
also, if you must go in to that kind of situatoin, go in with the fog pattern, dont just crawl in to the fire.
i have been on my department for 8 years now and i have done many many interior attacks on live burns and in no way have any of them been that bad.i am not saying they were stupid or judging them but it was not a good decesion on the officer in charge to let his men go in like that trainning or not. look out for eachother as if it was a family member which it should be in a scence.i would do anything for anyone on my department to keep them from geting hurt or even dieing. god bless and be safe.
Ya know everyone can sit on here, monday morning quarterback every fire video on here all they want and talk as much trash as they want, but the fact remains, mistakes are made by human beings, with that said, firefighters are human beings just like anyone else, it doesnt matter if you are paid or volly, you still get on the truck in the same respect as eachother and still do what you gotta do, only difference is a paycheck, Dont like it, find another line of work, maybe you should be a cop...
thats kinda stupid even if they are rookies or volinters or watever anyone with braines would know that if there is noone inside do go in a burning building like that fight it from the outside
dumb.stupid, wreakless, that was just dumb im a rookie firefighter myself..but you would not see me trying to be timmy toughnuts and doing something this stupid. and chipnozzle..fuck you i agree with the others us "vollies" make up more of the firefighting force in american than career FFs and yes you should be ASHAMED of yourself and ur ego is bigger then ur commitment to firefighting talkin shit about volunteer firefighters we are JUST as brave as you are.
im honestly speachless,WHO sent these guys in? p.s. lets have EVERYONE fully dressed out,and a crew on air and with a charged/bled line ready for an event such as this.
Poor training leads to slow moving engines with flagged drapped caskets. Use this as a tool to train others in WHAT NOT TO DO whoever posted this thanks, it provides a great tool. If a FF has a no fear sticker on their helmet have them quit and join the ARMY

These guys have to be some of the poorest trained volunteers that I have ever seen. Why are they even set up to go into a tool shed to fight fire from the interior. Its a fuckin TOOL SHED. The CO shouldnt have even let them set up to enter when its fully involved like that. IDIOTS

Ouch, Feel bad for them. As hot as that may have been its nothing compared to the Chewing they are going to get later.

I've done training like this, and you would cry even in the sight of it.

Holy fuck. They must be poorly trained volunteers.
TowTruckJoe1 2 years ago 2
You really feel that volunteers are poorly trained. You really need to think that comment over. Many volunteers i know are just as trained if not more trained than some career firefighters. What does it matter anyway. Both volunteer and career do the same job. The only difference is that the career guys get a pay check.
CVFD4 2 years ago
Let me rephrase that. I thought I said it right..but maybe not. THESE volunteers are poorly trained. I NEVER said ALL volunteers are poorly trained. I've been that volunteer...and I've worked with some real idiots.I mean..not very motivated..kinda know it all... that do stupid shit. I agree that sometimes..the UNPAID professional does a better job. He/She isn't really motivated by money. They are there because they want to be. I wasn't trying to put all volunteers in the same group
TowTruckJoe1 2 years ago
thank you for saying what i was going to say but these guys must have never put on bunker gear...if the fire was covering the door like that..the door is my first target to knock down then ease in..
thunderbird1 2 years ago

@Blazefighter1428 the idea wasn't stupid, stupid is going in without the freaking line charged. that was f#%^^G stupid

okay there not dumb if a person was in there youll do what you can and there might be falmes on the outside but when you get in sometimes its not that bad as it looks in the case of a flashover the flames rise and its clear near the floor.
cfd. 3
lordvader665 2 years ago
lol dude I don't know how long you have been firefighting but these guys crawled into a wall of flames for a public demonstration. No people trapped not even a real structure on fire it was a training prop.
And if a person was in THAT i'm sorry people question why so many of our guys and gals are still getting killed in LODD and your thought process is the reason.
twotwo30Productions 2 years ago 7
i know what you are saying but it looks more like a flash over at the door. but yes i do agree that should not have been done like that. but yet it was also slighty misleading

read up on what a flash over over is because it's obvious you don't know the correct answer.

if anyone was in there, they'd be far past dead so why should we risk or lives for a lost cause. Risk a lot to save a lot, risk a little to save a little.

1979firefighter 1 year ago
@lordvader665 You are an idiot if you think you would ever crawl into that room for ANY reason!!! if there was someone in there, they are dead! there is no grey area here, that is not a survivable room, they are DEAD! And even if you just wanted to go into the room, why wouldn't you open the hose line up first just to knock down the flames? Complete idiots!!!
picklefire333 1 year ago
@lordvader665 They are complete idiots. If a person was in there they are dead. That structure is fully involved and would have already flashed. You are also wrong about flashovers. Like @twotwo30productions said, you must not have been a firefighter very long because you do not even know what a flashover is. I will not go into the science but essentially everything in th room simultaneously ignites. With gear you have two seconds to get out or you are dead, anyone without gear is long dead

i would think theyd atleast crawl in but to walk o n the knees with head level nearly at the top of the building.... bad news. their face masks probably melted in seconds..
jackiechan07 2 years ago
hahahaha 500 for five minutes? try 1800 i sure hope your not a fireman you should know that if you are, i have personally been in a fire for over twenty that was around 700 at floor level, they didnt knock the flames back before entry, cant just run into a building surrounded by flames.
firefd14 2 years ago
All that for a burnt looking helmet!
rdoggvf722 2 years ago
Never expose yourself to direct flame. You gear is rated for 500F for 5 minutes.

Arcangel917 2 years ago
when a structure is fully involved like that. chances are its already destroyed. firefighter safety is the top priority in firefighting, then anyone trapped inside, then the structure.
that kind of fire i would fight from the outside, then in if there is anything left.
also, if you must go in to that kind of situatoin, go in with the fog pattern, dont just crawl in to the fire.

i have been on my department for 8 years now and i have done many many interior attacks on live burns and in no way have any of them been that bad.i am not saying they were stupid or judging them but it was not a good decesion on the officer in charge to let his men go in like that trainning or not. look out for eachother as if it was a family member which it should be in a scence.i would do anything for anyone on my department to keep them from geting hurt or even dieing. god bless and be safe.

Poor training leads to slow moving engines with flagged drapped caskets. Use this as a tool to train others in WHAT NOT TO DO whoever posted this thanks, it provides a great tool. If a FF has a no fear sticker on their helmet have them quit and join the ARMY
