  • this band is way too good

  • These guys are stuck back in the 50's...who the hell plays instruments anymore? Needs more autotune.

  • Did anyone else notice how the bassist is just there in the background tuning his bass for the first twenty seconds of the song?

  • @TheLoneWolf719 hahaha that's awesome. I'm not sure if that's more of a testament to the low end of their guitars, or how much they dgaf.

  • love the music, but how the hell can i mosh to this?

  • horribad

  • basura!!!

  • tap tap tap tap tap i fucking love this song

  • Just watch the crowd at 2:22 when that badass riff kicks in :P

  • It's our first crazy one and its called Zygrooofryghxdkfjgh

  • It seems to me all the screamed parts have no projection or diaphragm behind them, it sounds thin/brittle and hurts my ears. Especially at 0:20. The band sounds so huge and killer though. Tight as fuck and incredible players. Just my opinion please don't flame me but I think Spencer needs someone similar to Ross Robinson to get him where he needs to be projection/conviction wise on this new album. I love them but the one piece missing for me from Periphery at the moment is believable screaming.

  • 0:45 Misha goes balls deep in insanity.

  • LOOOOL Tom doesn't finish retuning beofre the song starts ahaha

  • misha fucking kills it

  • misha gets the fuck off lol

  • Fucking love that every guitarists on stage has to tap the start riff :P

  • @SonataArctica6666 the guy on the left doesnt tap the opening riff, he is just playing some single notes

  • im loving the simplicity of the drum kit. I've often been repulsed by the showiness of many metal acts. This is an epic show of "less is more". IT'S NOT THE SIZE OF THE KIT. iT'S HOW U USE IT.

  • CLAP THOSE FUCKING HANDS

  • Halperns wrecking the place in this one

  • @Chronofonfilo I rock that shit out all day :D

  • Misha should really sort out his crabs .. 0:49

  • Haha Misha. Adam D influence much?

  • 3:18 XDDD bassist!

  • Misha is kiling it @ 0:42

  • yes, i do understand how matt is able to use a kit of that size(i am a drummer) but i just wanted say that its so awesome. because you never see that these days, and i guess since lots of there music does revolve around groove, he doesn't have to be so busy with a buncha rack toms and stuff. its just awesome. never see that in a metal band with such power like his

  • the bassist is maybe the most awkward person I have ever seen.

  • i used to be able to understand periphery lyrics . . .

then i took an arrow in the knee

  • Fuckin sick! That stage looks really crowded tho

  • @yrureadinthis1 he was feeling it that night

  • 1:42

    B-b-b-b-ba-bas-bass g-g-guitar??/?//?

  • Have to be one of the most talented bands

  • There's a lot of strings up there.

  • I really wish they would stop starting the songs while the singer is still announcing them, it sounds really rushed and lame.

  • @KaliumMusic when you're not the headliner you often have to cope with a very shortened set time....they're just trying to kill the silence and keep the mood going :)

  • @BoolaGroove I have never seen any other band do that, regardless of their position, and if it weren't such a bat-shit crazy song like Zyglrox it might work, but having the singer talk on top of "SNARE weedlyweedlywee - weedlyweedlyweedlywee" just throws off people who want to start getting into the song from the beginning.

  • @KaliumMusic true enough i see you point sir....we can probably blame this on lack of communication. from behind the drums, when starting a song it's nearly impossible to know exactly how the vocalist is approaching the next song! trussssst me. Plus Tom was tuning, but i'm sure Matt was just in the moment :)

  • @KaliumMusic They start while he's still speaking because everything is probably done to a click track, with all the backing track stuff they have. So they HAD to start when they did otherwise it would have knocked all their backing track/click track stuff out of time.... At a guess.

  • So they just started playing while their bassist was tuning? lol

  • @dizzyy96 No wonder he left. lol

  • Fuck we need another album ASAP!!!

  • The bulb can go wherever the fuck he wants...

  • wow, that's kinda fucked up to start the song without bass.....

  • @SICKSxNINE you get a short 20 minute slot, you don't have time to wait and perhaps miss playing one song at the end when you get kicked off the stage for the headliner to come on

  • @drmoshie I have a feeling if Periphery was kicked off the stage, something would be burned down.

  • I wonder if this show was as good as the one last night at the wreckroom.

  • @Pablotheawesomeguy I doubt it, my buddy from the band Vicevera went to their show in Toronto last night and said they killed it. He recorded Jetpacks was a Yes 2.0 and my god, did they sound epic

  • hahha eazy-e shirt

  • Misha fucker.

  • Misha goes spaz!

  • YEAH GUYS CLAP THOSE HAND!

  • 0:55 Love the Bulb going nuts. :D

  • i dunno how spencer does that, i've tried doing clean vocals and screaming before and it kicks your ass.

  • This isn't mixed great. >_>

  • i love this song is the best

  • That's the drum kit for this type of music? WTF?? lol

  • @Chorofonfilo Yep, a floor, a kick, and a snare, and a whole crapton of cymbals.

  • @Chorofonfilo that's what happens when you can play drums properly and not need 15 toms shielding you from the view of the audience! Creativity truly comes out with scarce options!

  • @BoolaGroove Fuck minimalist cunts who think that just because you have less toms, you're a better drummer.

  • @ShittyMcPoopyBalls No one said anything about being better BECAUSE you have less...it's all about the drummer himself. I'm simply impressed by how Matt does things on a kit with one single tom that most would need a bunch for! And if you know the record, he has 2 toms in recording, but the way he interprets this live with only one just blows me away!

I am not a "minimalistic cunt", but I AM a working drummer who has enough trouble lugging a 4 piece kit into my little car 5 times a week...

  • @ShittyMcPoopyBalls and fuck guys who need a thousand toms to kick ass

  • @fredsik Honestly, the entire argument for him using a smaller kit, making him better, makes absolutely no sense.

  • @ShittyMcPoopyBalls agreed, totally! but this guy kan do a fucking lot with such a small kit;)

  • @BoolaGroove That's so true!:D My word!:D He's incredible!

  • @BoolaGroove as a drummer I take offense to that. I love my options.

  • @Chorofonfilo He isn't like every other metal drummer where it's constant double bass and fast fills. He's more about the groovy side of things. It seems to work pretty damn well for him, though.

  • @Chorofonfilo Yeah, you don't need that much, it's all about using your skills, instead of having 10 toms to help you sound better...

  • @Chorofonfilo less is more

  • @Chorofonfilo if you were a drummer, you'd notice the hard polyrhythms come from the cymbals and double bass. 2 toms are only needed. i was suprised at first, but realised that you only need that many drums for it.

  • @Chorofonfilo Djental

  • @Chorofonfilo Dude, he can slap water and it still sounds good, search "Periphery water bongos"

  • @Chorofonfilo thats what happens when ur name is matt halpern and ur a fucking beast

  • @Chorofonfilo you serious man? haha that all you really need! all those metal drummers with many toms and cymbals are just getting them to have more! less is more!!!

  • @Chorofonfilo You don't play better because you have a big kit, actually Matt proves the opposite!

  • These guys are so fucking eccentric it's hilarious. Great music.

  • best fucking band ever!!! they look like robots playing that crazy riff w all the pinch harmonics n tapping!!

  • whos that prick that ran on and off stage?! fuck that guy!

  • "This next song... is our fast crazy one, IT'S CALLED ZYGLROX!"

    Spencer Sotelo is a boss.

  • can someone tell me how to mosh to this? o0 love it though!

  • Theyre a great band just a lame stage presence

  • @deers5

A band of their musical calibre won't ever need to worry about keeping up with the hip and trendy scenecore bands doing bitch tosses every 5 seconds. Their music does all the talking, and so it should!

  • @deers5

I would like to see you try jumping all around the place while playing those riffs..

  • Bassist: "hey guys lemme get up here! Come on guys! GUYS!!!!"

  • @hellangelzx His name isn't bassist. It's Tom Murphy.

  • Do all three guitarists play 7 string? I'm sure I saw Alex play a 6 string live once, but I could have just been blind.

  • @big12oz yeah they all do, as some of their songs are 7 string. This song is 6 string in case you dont know lol

  • @big12oz They don't play a seven string in every song. They also play in Drop C, and I'm pretty sure C# Standard on a six string.

  • The fuck IS a zyglorox? Some kind of animated monster or something?

  • band awesome.... singer suck.

  • @eyeflow9 pft... yah right dildo

  • @LazNeedsABand be realistic. research vocalists in any of the heavy genres and tell me he's up to par with the musicianship going on around him. it's a musicologically sound observation. really, i'm not a hater... just commenting on the contrast. no need for the dildo. but if you want to use it, you know what to do.

  • @eyeflow9 Band awesome. Grammar suck.

  • @BrodownRVA thank for english lesson. much appreciate. shitfuck.

  • @eyeflow9 HEHEHEHE

  • Fuck me, this is sooo good.

Spencer is REALLY improving with time, and Im really glad to see that!

  • THEY SOUND SO GOOD LIVE!

  • what the hell does Zyglrox even mean lol

  • @DrMinion333 BAHAHA i wonder that every time i listen to it, either way its a fuckin crazy ass song.

  • i love how the bassist doesn't even bother at the beginning and just tunes :P

  • this band is amazing. that is all

  • when tom murphy comes back in it sounds like 50 times better

  • how come he's not doing the blast beats on the parts he should? what a fucking disappointment!

  • @mawkheaf Maybe he doesn't want to rely on traditional drumming techniques overused by bands that perform the genre of music they play?

  • @GrizzlyKrunkScreamer maybe, but the blast beats are there on the album. Maybe he was just feeling tired or something. He's a great drummer and can change things up and still make it sound good.

  • @mawkheaf I do imagine a live show becomes tiring, haha. But it could also be him just adding his own thing in there, y'know?

  • @mawkheaf He definitely just goes improv in the studio, and he goes improv live as well

  • @mawkheaf A blast beat deffinately doesnt make or break a song lol.

  • @DeadlyNinjaDrummer depends on the song...black metal wouldn't be black metal without blast beats.

  • @mawkheaf lol what

  • @mawkheaf Matt enjoys improvising live a lot more than anyone I have ever seen. You can go watch the same song live on 4 different videos, and I guarantee you won't hear the same drum track. He improvises based on accents.

  • from like 3:10 on the performance is fucking perfect, so tight whilst also being energetic as fuck :D

  • @Shi7Disc0 Well said, my friend. Very well said.

  • please, God, give these good men a bigger stage.

  • Lol the bassist isn't stressing the beginning too much, just keeps tuning.

  • This song blows my fucking mind !!

  • 2:23 was the time to go apeshit and jump around... and they didn't :( Good performance though

  • @PunKarmus you try playing that riff tight and moving around, its all slides...observation fail dude!

  • 2:23 to 2:40 (TIGHT as a 10yr old's asshole)

  • @slickth13f

    WTF?! o_0

  • Wow, this song would be a bitch to play live - for everyone.

  • His lows remind me of Tommy's from BTBAM :)

  • who ever is controlling the lights in the backgroung my heart goes out to you

  • Misha going apeshit crazy in this one, love it!

  • This music doensn't deserve this singer.

  • @adrianvdb myeah i agree on points, he is a good vocalist, but it should be way more like the music, complex and taking it to higher level and form of innovation and complexity just as the music, but i do enjoy it ! and would love to see them peform life, !

  • @adrianvdb Expecting album quality vocals for every show they put on is unrealistic, I doubt anyone could do that. The vocals on the album are sick, attempting to replicate them perfectly every time is asking for some serious throat problems.

  • so they just started the song while their bass player was tuning?

  • @medicaguitar36 they did it probably since they play to a click track.. so I guess the bassist was pretty fucked when then the click started lol

  • @medicaguitar36 His part of the first ~45 seconds is anything but required. May fill in the low end, but with 3 guitars and all that tapping, its almost possible to notice the difference in a live situation...I would imagine they just kept things going for the sake of getting as many songs in as they could.

  • @medicaguitar36 i dont think there was even a change in sound once he did start playing. Periphery is amazing, but that is my only complaint about them, cant hear the bass

  • @medicaguitar36 when you have 3 guitars detuned to Drop B and lower, bass is not exactly essential.

  • @MasonBangsDrums very wrong. Bass occupies a very different space in the frequency spectrum and has an entirely different timbre. If it wasn't there it would sound bad.

Not that that comes across in a youtube compressed, low sound quality youtube recording

  • @drmoshie all i'm saying is that you could get away with playing without a bassist for 15 seconds easier with three 7 strings than you could with two 6 strings. Bass is essential, i know this :P

  • @MasonBangsDrums Even when you're in Drop Ab, bass is essential.

You need bass an octave down from the guitar to complement it. It sounds almost non existent in this video,

but it'd sound far worse without it.

  • @medicaguitar36 Typical band that doesn't care a lot about their bassist.

  • CLAP THOSE FUCKING HANDS

  • This band is sooooo damn good!!!!! Man, this is the most modern in Metal we got !!! Freakin' nice, don't you think? Our parents (mostly) lived in Zeppelin, Sabbath times, when they were doing the Heavy Metal, and we are now living in this time with bands making the NEW HEAVY METAL! Its so cool \,,/

  • @Mephistto this music is the future, fuck metalcore its as stale as my grandma

  • VOCALS ARE ABSOLUTELY TERRIBLE GO BACK TO CASEY SABOL

  • EASY E T SHIRT YESSS

  • holy shit this is heavy

  • NO PEACE OF MIND!~

  • I will never understand how awesome it is to play these songs live.

But damn, I'd love to know the feeling.

  • they actually play really well but who ever is mixing did a bad job

  • @pandamanparty its unfortunately the way most sound guys mix. Im guessing because sound guys are people who arent musicians but still want to be involved in music and consequently have no musical ear at all.

  • @DoCrazyShit:

You have got to be one of the biggest idiots I have ever come across on the internet. You might as well say that Mr. A is a science teacher because he's not good enough to be a scientist but he wants to be involved and knows nothing about science. You sir are an idiot. Learn something. Read a book. Kill yourself.

  • @Daveminall Hmm... I seem to have struck a chord with an obvious sound guy. To understand certain things about music you HAVE to be a musician of some kind. For example I've never heard a non musician who is able to stay in time because it takes hundreds of hours with a metronome. And your little metaphor isn't very accurate because Mr. A the science teacher has been trained and knows what he's doing. Most sound guys do not have a clue and just like to be a part of "the scene."

  • If he said "Recognise" at the end of the song then he's even cooler than before

  • Lol Tom tuning for the first 20 seconds of the song is so Spinal Tap!!!

  • i like how they all started before tom was even done tuning lol

  • @CurtisRoxAtGuitar Yeah, like half a minute early..

  • Holy shit, Spencer is the get some the awesome yes.

  • I respect spencer, love his vocals. His singing range is beautiful and intense, his screams are young and will get better im sure. But in my personal opinion, I think they need to find someone else to do vocals, or just be straight instrumental. His vocals just dont match the music to me... like his screams are so timid in comparison to the low chugging intensity of the guitars... IDK

  • Nobody has more fun on stage than Misha fucking Mansoor.

  • Whoa Spencer's getting better. While he might not be the most amzing vocal artist live, he still kicks some serious ass in comparison to the shit he's taking from all of these people who don't realize that true vocal talent is furnished by improvement. Kudos, Spencer, you fucking crazy beast!

P.S. Coming from an amateur drummer, Matt Halpern is a BOSS.

  • @Khironification Yeah, he has an amazing range

  • @Khironification

True vocal talent is furnished by CONTINUITY and CONSISTENCY, man and nothing else. You don't lay down tracks in the studio that you can't sing live. Sorry. Spencer is proving that he's consistently bad live. He sounds like a strangled cat. He's out of his depth. That should be obvious. Only up your dynamic range on recordings when you have the ability to replicate it live. Good on tape but not on stage. The stage is not where you "practice", that's what practice is for.

  • @Babylonthegreat I think he sounds fine

  • @Khironification I wouldnt expect anyone to max out their vocal range like that for every single show. Good for the album, but he wouldnt make it through half a tour if he had to push himself like that all the time... mabye someday, but these people talking shit are expecting unrealistic results from someone whose unmistakably talented to begin with. Hes a human not a fuckin robot lol

  • @Khironification coming from an 8-year, advanced drummer, Matt Halpen is BOSS.

  • Periphery, the one and only band that awakens my metal taste... digging it..

  • hahahaha misha's stage presence is so hilariously retarded. i love it

  • I first listened to the instrumental version of their album. So I don't really like it with vocals. It really changes the feel of the song. It's hard to explain. :(

  • cant hear alex ):

  • Periphery is awesome.

  • Comment removed

  • @goofball924 shut up

  • @AnshumanMcMetal fuck you doing?

  • people say these guys arent tight live, or can play their parts. those people can fuck off cause Periphery were on it!!

  • @filiodiputana From the videos I've seen on youtube, they're pretty damn good live. Especially Spencer who can hit those high notes really well live.

  • @filiodiputana Yeah I've never really heard anyone say they were bad live, I was there. It was crazy how good they were :p
